Sgt_Tricore
Time to see what the world likes. i didnt go into 1940s, 30s, and lower because we have RDR and LA Noire for that. and i didnt go too far into future, because , ti would be hard to make future cars, buildings, etc

jnzooger
The 50s and the 70s are the only timeframes that R* hasn't touched yet. However, Agent is set in the 70s. (40s is covered by LA Noire, and the turn of the century is RDR.) This leaves the 50s in my mind as a good time to use. Cars were just getting good and we were just getting into the modern era of the world. You had great music, fun crimes, the start of the space program, you name it. AnthMUFC-Champs
I actually think if Rockstar do two more games again that the 70s and 50s would be a good idea. However the 80s would be as well but that has been done but modern day can be done once again.
BrownBear
60's or 70's would be great. I will make a topic set in both time era's, 70's Liberty city and 60's San fierro. The 70's were just cool, disco, sideburns, afros and black organised crime like Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes. The 60's were brilliant because they were a cultural revolution, hippies, weed, concerts and great music. NCONiall
I picked the 80s, I just liked it, it was awesome with the music and all I don't mind anything else, but the 80s would be nice again

I know, I've preordered it. However, just because there are other games set in the same period, doesn't mean that I don't want a GTA set during that time. Besides, Mafia 2 only goes a couple of years in to the 50's. The coolest 50's cars are from 1957, 58, and 59 in my opinion.
SirPsychoSexy
Honestly, I would love to see the IV-era to go something like this: GTA IV (2008) - Episodes from Liberty City (2008) - Histories from Liberty City (1970s) GTA IV: Vice City (2011?) - Episodes from Vice City (2011?) - Histories from Vice City (1980s) GTA IV: San Andreas (2015?) - Episodes from San Andreas (2015?) - Histories from San Andreas (1990s) First we do the current time period, and then while waiting for V-era we get historical periods. That'd be fantastic I say. Edited August 9, 2010 by SirPsychoSexy
phillipwnd
1911 Just kidding. The 50's would really be interesting. It was the post-WWII era when everyone was overly happy because the Great depression of the 1930s was over, and then so was WWII of the '40s. Having a GTA with a contrasting dark protagonist would put a real interesting spin on that era. He would probably be an ex-WWII soldier that saw a lot of bad stuff in the Nazi Death camps, and he's kind of turned calloused because of it. They could have a lot of fun with the retrofuturism of the period. Imagine them making Republican space rangers with 50's style rocket ships, and you have to go to a drive-in theater to watch it. They could also have diners where the waitresses roll around on skates. Then you can take the skates and have some fun with them. xD There's a lot of potential for that era. Especially if they put their own twists on things, which you know they would. Edited August 8, 2010 by phillipwnd
Sgt_Tricore
it looks like more people want to continue the IV time period, and its on 2010s and some others want a 1970s gta, that would be cool to. with 1969 muscle cars driving around everywhere, and veitnam war around the time period, it could be a story based on a vietnam veteran

Algonquin Assassin
1950s, 1960s or 1970s, but I reckon GTA Next will be another modern game. I absolutely love games that are set in the past like Assassin's Creed/II, RDR, Mafia etc. Modern times are good, but the reason I like games set in the past is because I was either too young to experience it for myself, or I wasn't born yet. Take VC for example. One of the reasons I fell in love with it is it took place in 1986, and I was born in January 86. I was too young to remember the remainder of the 1980s, so VC gave me some insight to what the period was like. (Well to some degree anyway) I've always been fascinated by the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Those 3 periods I wish I could've been around to see, but if R* set a GTA in either any of those 3 I'll be very happy.
Sgt_Tricore
What would be an ideal gta next for me: san andreas stories, set in the late 1970s What would most likely be the next gta: in 2010s, continuing the gta4 era

I have a nephew (whose older than me!) who plays this game.... to cause mayhem. He has had GTA: San Andreas for years, and hasn't even beaten "OG Loc" yet. I don't want anything less than 2010 because I don't want to give up the Internet addition made by GTA: IV, or any of the music/technology/etc. that would be given up. I'd like to see new series though, like a Pirate series and a Prohibition-Gilded Age series.
