Quantummagic
Hey there boys and girls. A really strange thing happened to me,...and according to google I am the only one...lol. Since the mission: BURNING DESIRE everythings runs smoothly. And after this mission on, ALL the markers are no more working!! -Not my own marker I can place with RMB on the map. -Also not the yellow mission-markers(Which are necessary to play the game) -Also not the blue markers which indicate your gang-car during missions. It's so frustrating,...I cannot play anymore, since I need that markers to find my goal. I had CLEO4 installed(20 scripts), memoryFix 1.0, and all car replaced(one mod). I thought maybe the problem are my modifications, so I decided to go several savegames BACK, and play with my original GTA-Game WITHOUT mods. But even then its always the same. As soon as I finish BURNING DESIRE, markers do not work anymore. I've also tried to play several other missions, before starting BURNING DESIRE, but nothing works. I dont know what to do,...this forum here is my last help. I would be happy of any clues you have in mind, where the error could be. lil weasel
Remove all MODs. Delete the GTA_SA.set file, reboot. play game. if still problems Reinstall game without Mods. PRE-TROUBLE-SHOOTING QUESTIONS: Before going too far, as a lot of time is wasted on trying to fix a no-fix situation: Are you playing the game with the Original DVD in the Drive? You are not trying to use a No-CD program or crack. If you Downloaded your game: is it from other than Direct2Drive or SteamPower.com? What MARKERS are NOT there... Quantummagic
Thx there lil weasel. I've already tried that. (deleting gta_sa.set) As mentioned in my post I already played with a FRESH install(no mods) of GTA. Only Used a previous savegame. I've also tried to use a savegame, which is several missions before this mission. But nothing works.
lil weasel
If you are playing with the DVD in the drive, What Markers are missing? If you in the middle of a mission some markers will not show until the missison is complete or failed. Markers can be turned off/on on the map. in the map mode press the space bar and the enter to cycle on/off.
Quantummagic
Markers can be turned off/on on the map. in the map mode press the space bar and the enter to cycle on/off. Yes I know,...also tried to switch them all OFF/ON again, to reactivate them. But nothing works. I am talking of ALL the markers. Only the stores/restaurants are left on the map. So the marker, which I can place with RMB on the map is gone. Only a sound when I place it. Also the yellow markers which tell me where to go in a mission. I just retried to play from a few savegames before, and discovered, that my markers where still working after that mission,...but then after the next mission they where gone. (I have downloaded a savegame from the net, from a mission where my markers do not work,...and with that everything runs fine.) So maybe All my savegames are f*cked up???(which where made with Cleo4(save-everywhere-F4-Button) And I've tried several earlier savegames,...same result. But how can a f*cked-up-savegame, cause all the markers to go whoopsi 2-4 missions later?? Keep in mind, that its my original GTA installation. Only that the savegames are made with my modded GTA. Should I restart the game without SAVEEVERYWHERE? Edited August 8, 2010 by Quantummagic
lil weasel
Modding Problems are not handled here. If the game plays without mods (or modded saves), you have no problem. radioman
Is this the Retail(DVD) version? OR A Downloaded version? If Downloaded, from where? Are you using the ORIGINAL DVD or a No DVD crack? Is this V1, V2, or V3 of the game? As was said earlier, Do a COMPLETE Un-install/re-install and delete the .set again and DO NOT insert any kind of mods(cleo or other wise), Do NOT use a downloaded save, and play through the game with the ORIGINAL game files and see if that helps.... Also, the REQUIRED Information from this PINNED topic by a moderator(Justin) would also be helpful: Before you post a topic, please read the pinned bug lists/fixes. It is likely that you're not the first person to encounter a problem, and we may have found a solution already. In addition to these pinned topics, please utilize the forum search engine. adamcs has produced an extremely helpful guide which explains the finer points of successful searching, accessible here. If all of the above is no help, you'll need to post a new topic. Please provide useful topic titles. "Help" or "problem" give us no insight into the problem - every topic in the Troubleshooting forum will no doubt entail a problem seeking help! To get the most amount of help for your problem, we need as many details as we can get about your system's specs. Therefore it is highly suggested (read: demanded) that you provide: • What platform: PC, PS2, or X-Box • What version number of GTA: SA • What CPU and its speed • How much RAM, also what kind (DDR, SDRAM) and speed • What video card • Which version of Windows (and any service packs) • Which DirectX version • What sound card • History: Is this your first install? Did it work once before? Anything that is relevant. • Screenshots, if applicable. This is especially necessary with display issues which can be explained far easier by use of visual aids. • Above all else, a detailed description of your problem. Give as much information as possible! Keep it relevant, though. We don't need a fifty-page printout from some diagnosis program. Usually the above prompts will suffice. So, PLEASE answer all of the following questions and we can help you better..... Edited August 8, 2010 by radioman

lil weasel
So it was a MODDING Problem!
Quantummagic
Actually yes. But "SAVEEVERYWHERE" comes with CLEO3. And you should expect such a widely used thing to be stable.
Quantummagic
All modding problems belong in the Modding Forums, Centre of forum Menu I did not know that. And Lil weasel: You seem to have a personal problem with mods as I see. All you say is mainly: reinstall and play without mods. That doesn't help people very much. You don't have to give up all your beloved mods, when there's only one mod causing the problem. There are people who love to play with mods, it can make the game more beautiful and realistic. I have changed all the cars in the game to their intended real ones, which rockstar didn't had license for. Or changing the pretty ugly moon to a high-res one. Speaking of CLEO: It wasn't very realistic, when a copcar is waiting in front of red traffic-light, and you past with 120 mp/h. All that CLEO can handle. Just a few examples. Thats why I won't play without mods. Strs and Omega_Is_Here
lil weasel
Oh... I guess you didn't bother to read the rules of this part of the forum. Many hoursof 'helpers' time are wasted by Modders and Pirates trying to get their games running with problems they caused themselves by altering the game program. ... Note that this forum is only for unmodded copies of the game. For anything related to add-ons, tools or mods, please visit the modding forums. Quantummagic
Ok I agree and understand you totally, that you dislike anything that changes the game and causing endless trouble, which is filling the forums then. My personal opinion is a bit different, since I already passed 40% off the game, and my experience is much better then without mods. Even do to the fact I had hours of troubleshooting, and finding all the buggy mods. About posting in the wrong forum: 1. The big section "Troubleshooting" lets you think, that you are right there. (Maybe "Troubleshooting(Unmodded GTA)" would cause you less trouble, since I am probably not the only one. 2.Honestly I did not believe it had anything to do with my mods at first, since the problem also occurred with my original installation. ANYWAY problem SOLVED and thank you everybody for your help.
lil weasel
Good to have your problem solved, usually they aren't here. I've asked the Admin to put more of an explainatin in the Menu for "Modding", but it's still blank. Some people don't really know they are 'modding' a game when installing/changing small files, etc. I would do modding if it wasn't so .... so .... unrewarding (for Me) in getting things working without otherwise buggering the game, and I'm still entertained with the vanilla game.
