gtaivpc
lmao, I can't believe it actually had ancient greek on one of mine. recaptcha is now becoming extremely annoying. ''νῦν beyoff'' was the exact phrase, I've never even heard of the word beyoff: after a google search I found out it's turkish. I wish I could show you a picture but the PC I am currently on is so old that it crashes the very moment I press print screen. ironically enough it said "correct!" when I typed the word and hit submit. a chinese guy should try it too and post the results EDIT: I just got hebrew. Reconite
I found this one entertaining. On 4chan the correct term is ni**ers. On /b/, maybe. I'm not sure /tg/ looks at it the same way. Even /v/ would rather replace the smaller word with >implying.
E.A.B.
It's a conspiracy between the spammers and the people running the Recaptcha service. The spammers get paid a small percentage to run their spambots about (contacted through a third party, of course) and the ReCaptcha service provides a way to deal with it. Whenevr a website is big enough, they contact the spammers, then they offer the site salvation from 'those pesky spammers'.

QwertyAAA
The f*ck? Two words... Right... Not unreadable, but what exactly is uncircumcision? Umlaut-y! Haven't gotten any Chinese ones, though.
DeeperRed
Smallest word can be replaced with any word you want by the way so if the shorter word is illegible just put c*nt.
mrpain
Yeah it gets annoying every now and then but I dont get crazy words or even Chinese! Also, I saw one picture above with a smiley face on it. How the hell do you type that? ?
Runey
I hate the ones that are impossible to read because the letters are so distorted. That's just ridiculous.

HolyGrenadeFrenzy
Those types of letter blurring code check to type in devices frustrate the hell out of me. At least the ones posted in this thread aren't blue background with green letters of the same dimness quality or rainbow colored letters created to throw humans off no doubt. PresidentKiller
Those things are ridiculous, in the beginning of the "anti-spam" measures, I remember there used to be one where you had to answer how many things/animals/whatever were in a picture that was shown to you, I think that was much better. massrcor
And what about the ones you know you spelled correctly, but they still say you got them incorrect? I mean WTH, it's actually starting to consume some of my day trying to figure out this very inconvenient "ReCaptcha" and btw dey str8 up suck azz mang. epoxi
Don't use imageshack.us : I got a virus from one of their adverts without actually clicking anything (it was a PDF exploit I think). Luckily it was easy enough to remove, but I wouldn't use them again.

Note: I've used ImageShack since they started, and never had any problems with it. They've made some annoying changes over the years, but they're 102% safe. james227uk
Any good AV would have blocked the connection. But I've never had any problems with imageshack either.
epoxi
Note: I've used ImageShack since they started, and never had any problems with it. Same with me, they're the only host I've been 100% happy with for years...until yesterday. My AV didn't flag it because Symantec AV is useless, and I was under the impression that common sense (i.e. never say "Yes" to anything, and never download .exes from unknown sources) would protect me enough...obviously not. To reiterate, I don't think it's Imageshack's fault, but the fault of the adverts on the site who opened the PDF in the background. Also I was stupidly using IE, I don't know why I was: I have Chrome and Firefox, but for some reason I chose IE yesterday. I don't plan to again. ghost of delete key
ImageShack pipelines their advertising from TribalFusion, which while annoying, is completely legit. If you got a PDF opened, it came from somewhere else; either you had another tab opened with something dubious in it, or you have some other problem going on in your machine. What was the document in the PDF reader? Punk-in-Drublic
It is getting a bit ridiculous now, I had arabic letters the other day, what the f*ck do they expect me to do there? Darrel
Think how much this idiotic procedure wastes our time? Its completely annoying, an inconvenience. Especially when you need to go through a few of them until you can actually read it. Youtube is taking this too far. As someone who posts a lot on youtube its an inconvenience. And its getting a BIG one. I have not seen a decrease in spammers/bots on youtube. Probably more of them if anything. It hardly stops spam bots at all. I'm surprised i have not ranted about this in GOF yet. Even if i can read the word perfectly. Its still annoying, and something i would rater not being forced to do. spaceeinstein
Only one half of the recaptcha is read by the computer so, as already said before, I typed whatever I wanted for the other half. I would imagine for those who knows this and puts the word "f*ck" for all the recaptchas, Google books would have tons of improperly used words . The recaptchas are nothing. Those "eyestrain" captchas are the worst I've experienced so far. Edited July 1, 2011 by spaceeinstein
