ghost of delete key
I never minded ReCaptcha so much, but that was before they started getting ridiculous. I mean, some of the crap they've been spouting out lately is just too much... That's hard enough on the eyes, but when you hit the refresh button and it gives you these, the teeth start to grit... ... so you hit refresh again - it's all Greek to me... ... and these just plain pissed me off. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! CHINESE?! WHERE THE F#CK ARE THESE LETTERS ON MY KEYBOARD?! Seriously. I got these all out of a single session. I think they're loosing it. I know I am. Ats.
I know, it's f*cking retarded. Haven't had Chinese tho.
james227uk
If it weren't for the idiots who created spam bots (etc) then we wouldn't need captchas at all. Thank them But chinese on Recaptcha? Never seen that before. I find that Recaptchas are usually easy to read
Function-X-
Oh wow thats crazy, They used to give words that kind of makes sense, maybe it's the site or something ? And guys whats the point of making the word hard for the eyes ?
Frank.s
As some may know ReCaptcha uses its system to convert books to ebook text with the smaller word being the one from a book and the longer one is for security. Well maybe they have started converting books that are not simple books anymore but are complex/retarded books.
860
You can (apparently) put what ever the f*ck you want as the blurry/short/weird word and it is okay. Numbers are always a 100% unchecked word and generally if it just looks like worm poo you can replace it with any other word and pass. I do not know why but it works. AndyGanteks
Some of those look photo shopped. One way or another, those caption things got annoying, they ruined tinypic with it, and some other sites. f*ck em all. Star-Lord
@AndySerb - Word. Now, all we need is for them to create a new improved ReCaptcha to access ReCaptcha. I never did get those Chinese characters, but the letters are getting harder and harder to decipher, just a couple days ago I could of sworn a seen a middle finger in there somewhere. Anyways, imagine the elderly folks trying to decipher ReCaptcha's gibberish? I bet these are selling well...

meta187
Agreed. Total pain in the arse. We should totally take the piss on these, D. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~

I usually substitute either a nonsensical or extremely offensive word for the illegible, numeric or punctuated ones. It's accepted most of the time. The Guru
I f*cking hate them. Ever since they put one on Tinypic, they've been pissing me off even more, seeing as it's a site I tend to you use everyday. But Chinese? Seriously, that's a bit too far. AmyJones
I honestly dunno why the internet in general f*ckin bothers with these anymore. They don't stop spam and they don't stop bots.
ghost of delete key
Some of those look photo shopped. Nope. I capped them straight off the screen; perfectly unretouched. they ruined tinypic with it... That's exactly where I got these from, and yes they damn near ruined it. Besides which, they're starting to get more strict with content, but that's another topic. @ freak2121: I never saw an upside-down captcha. That's... freaky. Anyway, that one says "imaginary". [SM]CJZera
Let's hope they don't add upside down chinese words... would be the same for most of us, but still, annoying, I wonder why do they even bother to try and stop bots
nlitement
If it wasn't for gullible people who actually but into spam, there would be no spammers, hence no CAPTCHAs. In an ideal world...
Tyler
Why do these things have to be so hard to read? If it was a bot, the damn thing would not be able to read anyways!

james227uk
Unoriginal, you have a fair point. IMO, why not just a combination of 3 clear letters/numbers? ABC or 125 (Obviously more complex that this). I suppose there must be a reason otherwise they would.
Ryder 556
I read this on 4chan but with reCAPTCHA you only have to get one word correct, that being the readable one, so that means you can enter anything for the greek/chinese letters. On 4chan the correct term is ni**ers.

james227uk
Some of the captchas are actually totally crazy. Look at this one: It has a f*cking face on it If you want to see which random ones you can get, go here: http://www.google.com/recaptcha/learnmore Then keep clicking the Reload button on the embedded captcha Edited August 7, 2010 by james227uk

james227uk
That get one word right thing is right. But if a computer can't read such a CAPTCHA, how does the system know the correct answer to the puzzle? Here's how: Each new word that cannot be read correctly by OCR is given to a user in conjunction with another word for which the answer is already known. The user is then asked to read both words. If they solve the one for which the answer is known, the system assumes their answer is correct for the new one
