SIXAXIS
The gta's all use a real time weather effects, how could they make it so that it starts snowing, have it build up then gradualy melt? Is that possible? This is definitely not within the reach of our current consoles. Although, I do believe it could be possible with the best of gaming PCs. Doing something like this would require an extensive amount of computing power and memory because it would have to accurately lay the snow on top of many different surfaces. It's similar to self-shadowing; it never used to be possible because it was too taxing on hardware, but now it's definitely a reality. I think that the next generation of gaming machines will be able to handle this kind of load.

Mr.Moffat
Bully doesn't have snow, always.. it's in chapters of the game. So a level is redesigned with a "snow" look and effect. Im well aware of this. i knpw it only appears in one of the chapters in the game, Yet I have seen people use bully as a backup for as to why it's rockstar being lazy or some other Bs as to why snow is'nt in a gta game (it really bugs me when something is'nt in a gta a person wants and their reasoning behind it is rockstar are lazy... ''OMFG You can't customise cars on par with need for speed, Gay I can'nt customize my character in the same detail as the sims or the city is only one city and it the graphics are'nt as good as Cod4, rOCKSTAR SOLD US OUT!!! etc etc.....sorry rant over) I mentioned it in a reply already about the sno in bully. I proberly am too(Im no expert), what i mean is though that in gta, you go outside, you can clearly notice the change in the weather, it would be sunny, then it would start to get overcast, then start raining and the ground would become shiny and slippy, then it would stop and it would start to get brighter again, how would snow work in this kind of system. It uses no load screen, this all happens as you drive around etc. Games such as bully, you finish a chapter, its autum, all the leaves are brown and so on, the screen blacks out and then it says your starting a new new chapter, ch 3 or whatever. its now christmas so there is snow, but it just appears. we don't see it snowing. It just appears, then you fin that chapter, its gone. im sure that it was just a texture change. here it is Edited August 8, 2010 by Mr.Moffat
