NikoGTA4
When he looked Asian, he looked like a child. In the last one, wow he was so strange in this one he looked like Elvis.
cidamelo
NikoGTA4 I rather say he looked like a loser Elvis impersonator.

NikoGTA4
The first three pics are more like a late alpha, anyway. What do you mean? I would say it's early, not late, I never seen an older Claude than this one. Also what's the difference between Alpha and Beta GTA3? How do you know it's Alpha? cidamelo
NikoGTA4 I think Alpha is a stage before Beta. Anyway, I never have heard about an Alpha game. I think he said it's Alpha because the graphics are so, so terrible. I think that in the other pictures the game isn't so terrible, so it is beta............ Gundog
First off, cidamelo, stop saying Claude's f*cking hot. That's your business, innit? We don't want to know about your sexual desires, now, do we? Second, HE WASN'T planned as an asian. It's just the cartoony contrast of the colors. Are The Simpsons asian? Third, he wasn't shot in the face, but in the chest area. "I left you pouring your HEART out into the gutter!" Ring a bell? You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself.

Gundog
Meh, I'll just leave her be. I guess 46 year-olds are not mature enough to understand virtual characters will never be real. They used to be, though. You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself.
cidamelo
Gundog If you don't like the topics, just don't post on it. I'm not saying he was planned to be an asian because of the yellow color. I was saying he was planned to be an asian because he had asian eyes, asian cheekbones and the most pictures are in Chinatown, and not in Red Light District or Saint Mark, for example. I know he wasn't shot in the face. I said it joking, because he was so ugly that to be that ugly he might be shot in the face. I know Claude will never be real (unfortunately ) but just because of it I can't like it? Just because the GTA World isn't real you can't like it? You got to have more imagination my friend

I would say it's early, not late, I never seen an older Claude than this one. Also what's the difference between Alpha and Beta GTA3? How do you know it's Alpha? It's obviously functional - there seems to be traffic, so the gameplay works - but there's an empty space past the one intersection, so it seems that the basics of the game were created and they were ready to replace the placeholder cartoon-ish graphics. The beta, it seems to me, is the stage starting from the adoption of atmospheric effects and the cancellation of the Dreamcast version - so early March 2001. Look at his jacket: If it's a gray blur, it's probably before the graphics were elaborated upon by the design team, but after the key features of 3D gameplay were programmed. I'm pretty sure this was one of the earliest screenshots released - along with this one, probably captured from a devkit. The E3 demo and teasers, however, already had some missions and basically release-quality gameplay. The previews that came out half a year before release? Eh, maybe not that much. I got what you mean. I remember the first ever released picture of GTA3, it was a blue cop car with the door open. And ever noticed that the early Beta/late Alpha never take place in Staunton Island or Shoreside? Only Portland was built at the time, we cansee on some pics, the bridge that leads to nowhere... I like those gameplay pictures, it seemed fun to play, but still there was no pedestrians nor traffic, as you say. sh*t, I'd pay so much to play the beta, jeez... It is annoying how your every post is about how much you love Claude, I agree, he looks pretty cool, but he is silent, psychotic murderer, how can you fall in love with him plus it's video game character. I think it would be cool if he was asian, because he had many connections with yakuza, triads. FInal Claude looks too simple in my opinion. cidamelo
DimitriRUS Do you think I'm too old for liking GTA ? Do you think Claude is ugly? I think he looks awesome, I wouldn't mind if he were an asian, but he must be a good-looking asian I think he is american but latin and french descendant. Filip
I loled when i first saw screenshots from beta - this nice buildings with GTA 2 textures - epic :E Anyway, Claude is looking so good so don't talk sht about my fav game character
NikoGTA4
Again check my comparison. In this one, Claude really looks asian. He has no eyes.
lloydo
That Chinatown building with the tower-like structure looks better in the beta version, the final version's just dull.
4l3k54
Yeah, and the graphics have better colors in the beta. And as i see the ground had more detailed textures?
Filip
Of course. But how they scripted Claude to turn around? :E Anyway colors in the beta - I mean Chinatown building looks like massive and good sht
cidamelo
I don't like the colourful of the Beta GTA. I rather the grey final version. But the Chinatown Building looks better in the Beta Version.
IvoryX
On this two screenshots GTA III look to me like GTA2 from 3rd person view Look at the buildings texture on second pic --> it's from GTA2 Anyway it would be good if R* release something like GTAIII alpha so we can explore how Liberty City was looked like... Tycek
There would be only Portland to explore and maybe not whole island, since almost all screens are showing Chinatown and Red Light. Edited August 9, 2010 by Tycek
IvoryX
There would be only Portland to explore and maybe not whole island, since almost all screen are showing Chinatown and Red Light. or maybe Staunton and Shoreside only in LOD style
NikoGTA4
LOD are made after the models are made, not before. At this time only a small part of Portland was made. There is some beta screens where you can see the Callahan Bridge leading to nowhere, cut in the middle.
