If the next Gta is a new era, I would like to see how GTA IV and EFLC had Niko, Johnny, and Luis tied in together. But new characters in the next game.

why can't we choose none of them? they were all from the gta3 era and besides i prefer a whole new cast of characters. It keeps the games far more intersting.

None of the primary protagonists (i.e. the character you play) will ever feature in a future GTA game. Not even as a supporting character. This is just the way that GTAs have always worked.

 

You also never get to play as character that was a secondary character in a previous GTA. Instead you always play as someone twice removed. e.g. you don't get to play as Lance Vance, you only get to play as his brother, Victor "Vic" Vance.

 

The only characters that get recurring roles tend to be minor characters that get to appear as minor characters in another GTA.

 

Now, I know that GTA:IV may not quite conform to this idea when you take into consideration the two DLCs, but this is a little different, because the plots of all three games (IV and the two DLCs) were designed to dovetail together at the outset. But even then direct interaction between the three protagonists is minimized and major characters from one story tend to be only very minor characters in another. If they do make another GTA:IV series game, then you can reckon on it following the above rules.

Same here, I seriously can't see why so many get a rubbery one for Tommy.

If anything, I don't like his "I'll go sort everything out myself" attitude - if anything I can't blame Lance that much for being pissed at him.

 

I'd definately like to see a return of Mercedes Cortez if it's set in the 80's, and GTA 3 Claude if it's set in the present. Maybe he can become powerful and successful, leading his own outfit - maybe of assassins for hire such as himself. Or he could have really spiralled downwards into a sorry elderly thug or hobo or something.

Well I'm willing to bet my sad little life that none of those characters will be seen ever again, at least not in person. We might see references like in IV but this is a new GTA universe. If I had to pick one to return it would probably be Claude as he would mess with the current Canon the least, what with him being mute and all.

 

OT - I tell you what I would like to see in the next game, a retro arcade that played the top-down GTA: London '61 & '69. Only instead of GTA it could be called TDA (Taking & Driving Away) so it doesn't totally destroy the fourth wall. In fact I would like to see an entire Arcade filled with parodies of classic games. They hinted at this in IV with the Arcade in Chinatown which had some familiar looking 8-Bit sprites in the window. Who wouldn't want to play the Mario clone with the Swedish looking plumber, which was a very subtle porn reference. In fact I'm going to post this in the V wishlist.
