Trouble Uploading Images

I recently switched my Operating System to Ubuntu (Linux) and am having trouble with uploading any sort of files to any image hosting site from GIMP Image Editor. I am not sure what the problem is, but every time I try to upload an image from my picture the image hosting site says

 

Wrong file type detected for file \'s in dubai:application/octet-stream

 

Well I have no idea what any of this stuff is about. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
