!.07 Rockstar Social club problem

I have just updated to 1.07 and the patch told me Rockstar Social Club wasn't needed anymore and should it be uninstalled. I said yes, of course.

 

But now, every time I start a game of GTA IV I get the Rockstar Social Club sign in and have to click play or play offline. If I click Play, it authenticates my username/password and only then does the game start.

 

In effect then, I have to be on the internet to play this game or play offline!

 

Anyone tell me what's wrong or is this the way it now with 1.07, because if it is, I am going back to 1.06!!!!

That's the way it works. If you Click play, you're logged into Social Club and play as usual. If you click Play Offline, gameplay will not be affected but you will not be able to access multiplayer or upload videos to SC. You need internet only if you want to login to Social Club and play online.

Not much of a difference from the older separate SC app - you probably let the program run automatically and didn't have to manually login every time.

Thanks for the info but there was nothing about this in the 1.07 readme. Prior to 1.07 everything was autoactic and the game just started.

No it didn't. You had to click Play prior to this in a social club interface, after it logged you in, before the game started, or you do not have the same game/copy of the game, as we do...

Odd, if I were logged in on Social Club, I just doubleclicked the IV shortcut, it checked DVD, started and no RGSC. My game's fully original

But as above, I was logged in on the app.
