LazlowsucksiloveslutS
I'm kind of interested in what you guys think is worse : to be locked up in a mental hospital or be locked up in prison ? To me,both options are bad. In mental hospital you are not held as long as in prison, but the pills and sh*t they give you there will f*ck up your mind and you come out worse than before. In prison, you are locked in a cell for years, but they don't f*ck up your mind with pills there.
Ottae
I guess it depends on whether you're actually mentally disturbed. I don't think the pills " f*ck up your mind and you come out worse than before" Because believe it or not, they're trying to help you.
Robinski
If forced to choose I'd rather take the rest of my life in prison over just a handful of years in a mental hospital. Prison life is hard; you've got few freedoms, very little to do and the people are less than desirable. Nevertheless I'd take it over being treated like someone who's less than human, I can barely handle it when someone talks to me like I'm and idiot. There's also the company, people who are genuinely mentally disturbed are more scary than big bubba in Cell Block D to me. I guess I'm really thinking more of an asylum though, rather than a hospital. If I did become mentally ill I'd like to think that I could be helped, and a mental hospital would probably be the best place to go. My gran died nearly a year ago, after living with alzheimers for years and, although I didn't really know her at all, it was terrible thing to behold. I'd rather die than go through that. anus
Actually, the 'medications' used in mental institutions do mess with your head. If the patient is somehow cured for what he/she originally came in for it won't be without another mental illness being caused. Prison for me too . oldage
depends on what kind of prison for me; if it's a normal one I'll go there, but if it's one where all the hardcore guys are locked up I'll take the hospital.

Cojage
I can barely handle it when someone talks to me like I'm and idiot. Anyway in prison you get: -free food -raped -you only get 1 hour a day outside -unfcomfortable beds -you have to work all day and you won't see much of your paycheck A mental hospital: -you get treated for whatever reason you're in there for the first place -you get a own room and you're not stuck in there and you have much more freedom -there's no agression towards you

JayC
Don't believe the 'few years' bit. If you are deemed insane and unable to stand trial there is no guarantee you will ever be released and there usually is a minimum term where if you are deemed sane they transfer you to jail for the remaining time. Given the choice of life in either I'd rather be dead.
Robinski
Yeah in English Law insanity is a general defence, meaning that if you can prove it you will be found 100% innocent of any crime. All you have to do is prove you've suffered from a "disease of the mind" which brought about a "defect of reason" meaning that you didn't know the "nature of quality of your actions". Basically if something caused you to go a bit mental for a few minutes and you genuinely didn't realise what you were doing was wrong, you could do what you want. It's actually not that hard to get a verdict of innocent by insanity even if you're perfectly sane, just nobody does it because it's a lot harder to prove you're not mental once you're in the system. Going by the standards a lot of these places have to set to ensure they only let "normal" people out, we're practically all insane. They'd be liable so quickly for someone who comes out and hurts themselves that they create a standard that most people on the outside can't reach. So yeah, I'd never plead insanity no matter how easy it'd be or what the alternative punishment. (I did English Law last year, does it show?) Cheat
Well, it depends. I mean if you like shot a bug and got to mental hospital for that, prison would be a lovely option. Then again, if you spend the whole time inside getting f*cked in the ass, you would probably rather be in a mental hospital even if you weren't mentally disordered. QwertyAAA
I daresay that if one is already at a mental hospital, it's a given that their mind is disturbed to some extent. Ergo, I would wish to get help.
IVSA_Guy
I'd rather get in mental institute than get my ass raped. Prison food seems to be disgusted. No TV, less freedom and alot and again a big ass rape deep in the night. f*ck that. It seems some guards force you to suck their dicks off or even get raped by them. *MURDOC*
I've never been to prison, but there are some that are worse than others, and I know plenty of people who have been to many different prisons. I've actually been to a mental hospital, and it can get pretty dangerous if that suprises people, I was almost stabbed by some lady, but usually the people are trying to hurt themselves or staff. Usually if you keep to yourself, you just kind of exist there. Edited August 5, 2010 by *MURDOC*
D- Ice
Good question. Imprisonment with mentally capable sociopaths of imprisonment with mentally disabled sociopaths? If you are mentally capable, jail will have the advantage of having better social interactions with other inmates - though being sociopathic, they will likely take much better advantage of their increased mental capability to exploit others - including yourself. For a mental institution, while social interaction is severly limited with other residents, they are much less likely to take advantage of you. I guess at the end of the day, both are equally hell if you don't belong in either one.

There was piss and sh*t and semen everywhere. Where I went was super clean and oddly (irritatingly) quiet most of the time, although I heard of a different section of the hospital referred to as "a living nightmare", but that was the worst of the worst, and about 5-10% of the entire hospital. Haha I've been to a care home for the mentally disabled with no one capable to take care of them - not an institution for those who are also sociopathic and deemed dangerous. I remember even that place being scary as hell - the behaiviour and general actions of manyresidents uncomfortably similar to that mission in the first Hitman game. Clutching teddybears and other objects and toys associated with early childhood, speaking in a very similar manner to children and aimlessly wandering around in their inappropriately adult shell. Luckily no piss or sh*t, as most were able to use the toilet, though the smell suggested otherwise. Man, guess I was so lucky for the lack of any trace of semen (or so I thought). Probably shouldn't ask, but was it just splashed around or what? Edited August 6, 2010 by D- Ice
E.A.B.
WAIT A SECOND, AREN'T BOTH INSTITUTIONS SUPPOSED TO AID THE ILL AND REHABILITATE!? ISN'T THAT THE PURPOSE OF IMPRISONMENT f*ck, system needs reform. severe reform. Anyway, if I HAD to chose, I'd go with prison. Even if I WAS raped, you guys act like its the worst thing in the world. I'm f*cking serious, too. Don't get me wrong, I don't wanna take one for the team, but its not the worst thing in the world sh*t, at least I'm still mentally sane, just sore. Just sore.
