DreamOperator
Looks great! I'd love to use this mod, but want to benefit from the work you've done over time. Any update coming soon?
boxmonster
Funny you ask, I worked on it a lot yesterday after the very long hiatus. The timecyc.dat is about 95% done right now, timecycle modifiers are another story though. I'll try to finish it in a few days. Some pictures to prove progress: Rain Windy Sunny One of the improvements I failed to post here was an improved cloud texture, this is probably as convincing as they can get without using ENB (and they can actually be colors other than white and that weird pink). Ash_735
This is looking very impressive, reminds me of rcguys Realistic weather Mod for San Andreas, after I used that I could never go back to the stock Weather settings, hope the same from this! Will this work with all versions of the game?
boxmonster
@ Ash_735: Yeah, Rcguy's weather mod really inspired me to edit GTA's weather (I was working on a SA edition, but with no timecyc reloader it gets annoying). It should work for all versions of GTA IV (I use 1.0.3.0), unless there are some differences in how the file works. I'm thinking about making a "cinematic" edition with color filters and all the bad gamma people seem to like, it's easy to make: Sadly I find these more convincing, I have TV and movies to blame. Regular version is done. I'll release the mod after I get some sleep (and assuming crap doesn't happen).
boxmonster
Here it is. Image spam: Thanks, you patient people. If anyone cares, the weather on the post I just double posted to is included as the unused weather only accessible through a trainer.
WolvenWolf
I tried it and Its amazing. Very good job. And the game runs smoothly. I have a question though, the extra sunny 2 is the unused weather right? The one you say it's only possible using a trainer. I really like that one, but I see it darkens at 00:00, and at 20:00 its still very bright... I'd say if you start the 00:00 am effect at 21:00 it'll be better. I'm keeping these weathers

boxmonster
@Masterdevil90: Okay, Excuse the bad quality. GTA's video editor doesn't let the weather smoothly transition but now you can see differences clearly.

boxmonster
Download version 1.1 there, MegaUpload. Not such a big update, just increased the contrast a bit so lighting and textures are much better defined after so many tries of trying not to mess brightness levels up much. And"blue hour" is brighter (my methods never really came up with good looking results for it so I did a cheap edit). Here are some comparison shots if some find it hard to notice: Befores (1.0) Afters (1.1)
boxmonster
To show that I haven't lost interest in this mod, I'll say that I'm working to eliminate the eye rape skies and colors of the previous version with a few discoveries I made. I have found out how to expand the color range for bright textures using those tricky gamma values, so they aren't all pure white at places so textures look richer. The sky is less intensely colored/ dark, especially during sunrise/sunset; actually looks interesting. That also means lighting is being redone. The water color isn't that unnatural black color and is more reflective. Cars are also more reflective (not really noticeable though). And I reduced that [environment only] ambient occlusion because alleyways and interiors looked dark and ugly, not to mention, dynamic objects stood out a lot in such areas since they aren't affected by it. Old Version (1.1): New: That's all I have so far, won't be finished until a while. A lot of people won't seem to notice the difference but I'm happy with the way things are looking. Game looks way more alive (although nights are basically the same).

boxmonster
Well this took forever to release . Version 2.0. Improved a lot of stuff; the weather is not over exposed anymore so police cars don't look pure white at midday, more bloom, better car reflections as a result of reworking the sky too. I've also come up with decent looking clouds. http://www.sendspace.com/file/5vlxtb And If that looks boring, I've come up with an alternate timecycle which is just that one with moody color filters applied. Sunny afternoons look insanely yellow, cloudy weather looks cold and blue, nights look gritty, you should get the point. It's sort of like GTA IV's default weather (but better ). http://www.sendspace.com/file/h3pc1u
Alt
Keep it up, your work (& sig ) looks great In my opinion, "alternative" version looks much worse and more boring than a "realistic"
