are the graphics as bad as gta3 ps2?

III has better graphics overall but LCS has better character models and shinier cars, the water looks a little better in LCS too.

What? The graphics in LCS are definitely better. Better reflections, higher resolution textures and higher poly models, and some other effects that III doesn't have.

higher resolution textures

Say what ,their like half the size they were in III

On PSP maybe, but why would it take 3.73 GB on PS2? I'm gonna prove it to you soon.

Edit: I did see some of the textures, mainly character textures which were indeed higher resolution only they were split in pieces. I'm not sure about the rest since I haven't been able to open any of the other files. I'm very disappointed that I haven't seen a 32 bit texture in there. Rockstar actually downgraded the graphics to 8 bit and 4 bit. What in the f*ck were they thinking?

isnt this topic about is gta lcs graphics as bad as gta 3, anyway i just dont get it, gta sa was made before gta lcs and gta sa's graphics blow gta lcs's out of the water. when i first bought gta lcs for ps2, i actually thought it was gta 3 because the super sucky graphics. suicidal.gif

III-era graphics are basically relative and similar any way. But Liberty City Stories was made for PSP first, so of course the PSP version is going to proportionately be better than the PS2 version.

Say what? LCS came out in 2006, two years after San Andreas.

He was referring to comparing the graphics to GTA III which came out in 2001.

Models are certainly better. In GTA 3 the models were all fat and blocky, while LCS there skinny and well done. and the visual atmosphere is much better. But the graphics textures are not nearly as good as GTA 3.

This ive always noticed.

When they ported from PSP to PS2, they could of at least updated textures. But no, they stuck with a direct no change port.

Before I say my things, I hope you all know that a 2 year old topic has been bought back. Anyways, we should all know by now that when it comes to remaking old games on other consoles, R* is too lazy to change much.

I see no difference here, other than the fact that the ps2 has sh*ttier watered down colors and generally looks worse. There's a crap reflection I guess? But then again it is a sh*t port by the lazy Whiskey Gang so would I expect anything less? No.

Oh, good ol' Zee. <3

The colors(since you are british, wouldn't it be "colours" instead?) are not "watered down", the PS2 version has a darker timecyc, I think it fits to the sad and gritty feeling that Liberty always had.

Reflections are cool, if you think they are "sh*tty", too bad for you. :x

It's not noticeable on this pic, but the PS2 version has better draw distance, textures and resolution.

Also, look at the trees! They are beautiful on the PS2 version, but on PSP they are big, ugly and blurry.

I know they could've done a better job, but saying that the PS2 versions looks exactly the same/worse than the PSP version is an absurd.

No. GTA III and GTA LCS graphics are two totally different things. Different reflections, different lighting effects, different shadows, different color gamma etc... Hell, these games use different engines, to begin with.

Whether it is bad or not - it's everyone's personal taste. They're fine for me. Both of them. I don't think they're bad. Maybe the resolution in LCS was lower than any other III era game, but that was of no great problem to me.

Very strange that the textures in PS2 LCS Version are better than PSP but worse than GTA III PS2 Version. Salvatore's Mansion didn't updated textures from PSP at all LOL. Why they just didn't used the textures from GTA III ? ? ?
