GTA V in London?

Never gonna put Grand Theft Auto in London again... The name doesn't even make sense: It is an American Criminal Offense.

 

London 61 and 69 were not real games. They were not even supposed to be published and by looking at their performance as expansions that required GTA1 you could see why back then.

 

You can also look at the canceled Getaway game that comes and goes from cancelled state and the performance of those games and how much they sucked to play and sucked in sales: London is not world-wide money. London watches Hollywood movies. I barely ever see any London movies, and niether do other countries. That is something to take notice to: Because GTA is not about what you do in it, it is about the world and media presented in it, and the whole world can relate to NYC and LA and Miami and Vegas, but none of us know what is going on in London except people in Europe. In other words, by doing this game where they Always do this game, they include Everyone who watches media. By doing it somewhere else, they disinclude almost everyone except the people who live there and sales fail.

 

Play gay tony. You will see, London is not happening.

Do you know anything about London or the UK for that matter!? London is as prominent as NYC, its the worlds largest financial center and has a rather successful film industry. Not to mention the fact that the Olympics are being held in the city in 2012 and I'm pretty sure people can relate to London more than Miami or Vegas.

 

Although I'm sure it won't be the setting of V, its only a matter of time before R* decide to revisit London and bring the series home.

 

OT - I saw that on Wiki aswell earlier when I was getting ideas for my Thames City concept but I didn't really think much of it as someone changes that Future section regularly.

 

P.S. Getaway 3 isn't cancelled, its on hold.

Off topic as well, I'm avoiding that thread as I don't believe that the Admins changing the V really means anything. The whole thing has turned into one big wild goosechase but if people want to believe theres something to it, I'm not going to interfere and start arguments.

I was originally going to mock London as a locale, but... TDA would actually be a cool stand alone game. GTA: TDA.

NO I don't, and THAT was the point I was making and why they won't do the game there

 

Dan Houser said it COULD be done in London, but that it wouldn't have what America provides, and that they wouldn't know where to start anywhere else in the world.

 

The game was and has been LC, VC, SA for more than 10 years.

 

They won't do London because regardless what you know about london, no one else does

 

(I can clearly remember people playing London GTA 1 expansion packs and making fun of it, unable to understand it, and feeling like it was rubbish and unfamiliar. I'm SURE we were not alone in that. In fact, I would venture to say that my friends and I understand the London expansions about as much as people wrongly assume why the game is called "Grand Theft Auto" - much of the non-American world actually thinks it means Big Car Theft, literally, they think the game is named uniquely, and Not after an American Crime. How are they gonna place a game based on American things, named after the American name for car theft crime, based on the media in the 3 hotspot regions of America, somewhere else? I figure it simply: They're not.)

 

I'm 100% open to contradictions to this, but they'll need to make sense, or I just won't get on board. And if I stay off board of that train, you can imagine how many other people would be just as lost in London or anywhere else. The MAJORITY of GTA fans would be just as bored, lost, and unamused as Rockstar would be to do the game in some other country (as they said).

London has a lot of beautiful places. Notting Hill, Kensington, Shepherd's Bush........I think Candem Town is interesting. But I'm suspect to say this. I love cities like London, with lots of grey and an "industrial" vibe. But I still thinks that my city, Belo Horizonte (Beautiful Horizon) is the prettiest.
