Arvis
So currently I have Win 7 Intel Pentium dual core E5300 2.6ghz 2GB DDR2 RAM (Kingston) (2x1gb) ASUS 9800GT 512MB GDDR3 Mobo: ASUS P5KPL-AM 400w power supply, I think but not so sure about it, where to find out? So I'm looking for mobo which supports AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU, at least 4gb DDR2 RAM, my 9800GT and not so important but a nice extra would be slot for SLI I guess. And as cheap as possible. Also is there anything else I should upgrade for that CPU to work nicely? Really don't want to spend extra money so I hope not.
nigge
There is no 1055T supporting mobos that is DDR2, if you want 1055T you gotta switch to DDR3. Also you can check your power supply by opening your case, your PSU has a sticker that says ampers, wats etc
Arvis
400W it is, I now checked the place where I bought it. So no AMD Phenom II six cores which work with DDR2?
yoječ
Actually there are mobos with both DDR2 and X6 support, like Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P. Sadly though, there are no mobos for AMD CPUs that support SLI. Also 400W doesn't mean anything. Check its full brand and model name and we'll see if it's good enough. Arvis
I'll open it if this is not enough, but not bother enough, so it seems to be CODEGEN ATX-6220-CA-USB/Audio (black) case + ATX400W (12cm/silent)
yoječ
Codegens are among the very worst PSUs on the market. I'd advise to change it ASAP. It'll definitely be not enough, what's more: using it might and probably will lead to damaging your PC, if you plan to leave it after CPU upgrade. Some proper 500W PSU should do the job fine. Mind you, Phenoms aren't that power efficient.
Arvis
Can you tell me what would count as proper? Also is 2gb ram enough?
yoječ
Don't know what's available in you country. You might search for something like Seasonic SS-500ET or Fortron FSP500-60GHN.
leik oh em jeez! You need a motherboard with an NVIDIA Chipset, or one that NVIDIA has "certified" (all this means is that the mobo manufacturer paid NVIDIA enable the technologoy on that chipset) to Officially support SLI. But in reality, SLI is a software implementation, and will work on any motherboard and chipset with multiple PCI-Express slots. I believe it requires hacked chipset and/or graphics drivers, but it is quite possible. Do some searching. Edit: Found one. ASUS M4N72-E Socket AM3, Official SLI Support, DDR2 up to 1066 with 2 DIMMs or 800 with 4, and two PCI-E x16 2.0 Slots (x8 signal when both are used.) Edited August 3, 2010 by leik oh em jeez! yoječ
Thanks for clearing that issue up. Sorry for posting false info. This mobo seems to be a decent one. The thing is if it's sold in Lithuania, and how expensive it is there (since basically most if not all PC components are cheap in the US).
Arvis
Thanks, that one seems to be nice, but err Cons: Disk does not support windows 7 but I guess I'll get to the download sight. I don't want to go back to XP Btw I'm not Lithuania but Latvia and even if these things aren't being sold here (if they are they cost twice more), I just order from some place abroad. yoječ
Sorry bout the country mistake, I just f*cked up... again. Well, the problem with newegg is that AFAIK they don't ship things abroad, and even if they would shipping cost would be very high.
Arvis
There's also ebay, sometimes they ship abroad

I don't want to go back to XP You don't have to back to XP. All that means is that the driver disc that comes with the motherboard only has drivers for XP and Vista. Drivers for Windows 7 have to be downloaded from the website.
