ronyx69
I wanted to test how does object deleting work. So I took the default LAhills.IPL and deleted one line from it(It was a bridge object). When I started a new game it crashed on loading it. So i downloaded Med and tried to delete the bridge with it. It crashed. Then I tried .IPL helper and it crashes anyway. But if I put the original .IPL file it works again. What am I doing wrong ? I tried multiple times with different objects and with deleting both the object and its lod but it crashed everytime. I tried different .IPLs too.
iLiR
I think you need to delete the line from both .ipl and .ide file, delete the collision script of the model, and finally delete it from gta3.img. But, this is my "think". So don't take it real..
ronyx69
It crashes anyway. I tried Steve-M map cleaner but it crashes my SA too. I did replace all the nodes, water.dat. I don't understand why.
iLiR
If you don't install any map, SA will crash. Did you install DexX test map?
ronyx69
Yes, I did. When I screwed with a lot of files it didn't crash but it just stopped at the loading bar and the music kept playing.
iLiR
Oh I know that. I personally used mapcleaner 0.4 beta 2 to clean the map, then I installed all empty node files, stripped main.scm and dexx map from mapcleaner 0.5 rc. And it works for me ! ronyx69
It goes a bit past half and stops and shows "Invalid pointer action" or something similiar. I tried multiple times.
iLiR
Strange, I didn't have that problem. But keep trying, maybe you'll have luck. Edit: Did you used mapcleaner on modded gta sa? If so, you should run mapcleaner on fresh install of gta sa, but first make sure you uncheck "Read-only" option for GTA San Andreas folder and files. You can go to steve-m page to see FAQs of mapcleaner. I think your problem is there, like "invalid pointer operation". ronyx69
I have a completely untouched freshly installed SA. I tried to disable read-only and even tried to run the cleaner as administrator and it still was showing me that "invalid pointer operation". Couldn't find anything useful in the log too. I am really surprised 5 years have gone since SA release but there still isn't a one-click map cleaner which gives you clean map, clean paths and other stuff and just water everywhere. iLiR
GTA Vice City is much more moddable than gta san andreas. GTA San Andreas is very limited. I tried mapcleaner by sorup to clean the gta vc map, it works, without any loading flashes, crashes and bug.
ronyx69
Well, I need SA because there's a lot more features like climbing on walls and better handling. I don't like vice city at all. But others get this working. There are huge mods for SA which cleans the map of SA. Isn't there any easier or manual way of cleaning the map ? EDIT: A little update. I need to clean the map without touching the gta.dat! Because I need to use it in SA:MP, but SA:MP uses it's own stock hardcoded gta.dat. I somehow need to clear the .ipl or .ide or something like that! EDIT2: Is it possible that I just put all map objects insanely low under ground and then just build my map on the normal height? How much custom objects can be added to the game if the default map is not deleted? Edited August 7, 2010 by ronyx69
