Simulated-AI
Users with specs like mine try this, maybe others can use it aswell. Limit FPS to around 30, and set frames rendered ahead to 8, just be sure to raise it. My stutter is not completely gone, but this helps so much that i can play without noticing it. Just be sure that your FPS normaly is over 40, or this might not work. I hope this helps some with stutter.
fenom
Hey stuttering u mean that you have slow- downs?? I have somewhere 40-50 frames. And I ha slow downs every 2 seconds- Some kind of a slow down- like slow motion for a sec. And I discovered this: If i put shadows to wery high, shuttering is wery visible, if i put shadows to low I have less shuttering- But I dont have a crap machine Help? Its dumb plying on low shadows and high textures.
Simulated-AI
Not really slowdowns... More like hopping cars. Everything moves like t t t t th h h h is. FPS is good and high, its just the stutter i am dealing with. And i found that setting a max on FPS and raise the frames rendered ahead works good. I use latest WHQL BTW. I also notice that driving around is more fluid now.

nemesi5
Wait you're getting stutters on a Q9550 & GTX 285 just like me? Impossible, I play on 1680x1050 on very high and I never get stutter, my fps is 40+ most of the time. How are you getting stutters ? This is like a super old problem that used to happen in patch 1.0.0.1 or so. What drivers are you using? What patch are you on?
Simulated-AI
I play on high settings in 1920x1200. Draw distance 30 and detail 35 latest patch. When i look at the cars driving by they stutter. There is no stutter when i drive around myself. The world around me is stuttering. But limiting FPS in the commandline helps. (-refreshrate 32). RealSamFisher
Do you run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. My GTA IV is stuttering the whole, but only when begin to push some keys on the keyboard (so when I move or drive). Have also a high end system: - Intel i5 750 - Sapphire Toxic HD5850 1024MB - 4096MB RAM I heared that GTA IV doesn't support Windows 7 and that's why you get stuttering problem. But I thought the devs said that GTA IV is made for future hardware/software too, so it should actually support Windows 7. But it could be also a problem because the game isn't optimized for ATI cards? I trying to fix this for months but nothing helps, I will try this when I have time. viometrix
Keicee your system is not all that great for this game really, and you really need a 64 bit os to fully utilize what you have. i play at 1920x1080, everything maxed, sliders all high but not max, no command lines at all. i use visualiv and ultimate graphics tweak and added a full real cars for gta pack and have no stutter what so ever. i attribute my success to the graphics add on enhancements packs. my specs are in my sig, but sli is off for this game.
