Too much to hope for?

OK, I don't expect we will get another patch for the PC.

 

But like many people here, patch 4 and 5 worked much better for me than 6 and 7.

 

My guess is they constrained the maximum view distance on the latter two (possibly to make the game run better on lower end machines), because now I get more pop-in, particularly when flying the helicopeter or driving fast down a long straight. No problems with close objects though.

 

Of course, I can just run an early patch, but then I can't use multiplayer, which is what I spend most of my time on now.

 

I know one of the major features of the patches is to block cheating in multiplayer. My question is though, would it be possible to make the graphics patch optional - i.e. choose whether you want patch 4 or patch 7 graphics, independently of all the other coding changes made?

 

I'm guessing how my computer renders the city has nothing to do with how it sends info back and forth in multiplayers to other players, so this should be quite easy for R* to make available?

I don't see this in the future, especially since most games need only the latest patch to run normally on most machines.

 

The best solution is to have two installs, one for multiplayer, other for maximum performance and SP.
