mkey82
Most other games are not GTAIV, hence they are a lot less demanding. Sometimes the keyboard causes strange issues, you may want to try anther one.

mkey82
A fresh OS install should always help a bit, but make sure your laptop has driver support for XP.
bLo0dD
Guys, I know what problem he's having, because i'm having the same problem and I can't stand it! I just built a new computer and i can run GTA4 on ALL high settings, max fps, beautiful graphics... BUT when i press certain keys on my keyboard, as soon as it's pressed, it slows to 4fps and when i let go of the key, it stays 4fps for about 7 - 10 seconds then goes back to normal... I've tested it fully and only some keys cause this issue for me... the keys are: Q W E A S D Z X = [ ] \ ' ; and a few others, 8 9 0 i think and a few others. No other games have this issue and I can't find anyone else who had this issue until now... I've narrowed it down to GTA4 conflicting with my motherboard or some kind of software glitch. I've tried other keyboards in PS/2 port and USB, same problem... No other games or programs have caused this is in anyway, and I'm almost giving up and buying Liberty City Episodes to see if that will have the same issue on my system... Please if anyone would know what causes this... I'd appreciate it... I'd start my own topic, but I don't wanna get flamed... lol any help?
mkey82
Usually turning windows event log service should be enough.
