Dominico
It may sound stupid or impossible for some, but you actually can put any movie on the TV and watch, either if you play as Luis Lopez or Johnny Klebitz. How to watch custom videos on the TV? Simple as that: Go to C:\Program Files\Grand Theft Auto IV - Episodes From Liberty City\movies (or whatever is your game location, I used C:), there you have following .bik files: EFLC_CNT, EFLC_Weazel and static, static_nosound. Last two show no emission (pardon my english, I'm Romanian). Next: simply convert any video you may like into a .bik file, using Rad Tools (download it from anywhere, it's easy to find using google). Use only .avi files! You can use other files, but most of them make the program crash during file conversion. Next: Rename the file you just converted into .bik with EFLC_CNT or EFLC_Weazel or static or static_nosound. Delete or move older ones into separate folder. You can replace all 4 videos. I suggest you make them small, to avoid any problems (around 60-100 mb will do fine). Final step: Watch it! I just converted some cartoons and I can watch the whole 20 min episode. You can convert a whole movie if you want But remember it takes too much time, that's why I recommend a shorter file. My system is an ASUS Laptop with only 3 GB ram and 2.2 intel core duo. Enjoy! Here is the proof (P.S. don't reply to me with "it's fake" unless you try my tutorial). Thank you. Edited August 1, 2010 by Dominico

Dominico
The link provided says "403 Forbidden" Yes, I just found that, sorry, I will try a different image uploader.
Dominico
Yes, now you can see the image As you can see, I used an old MGM cartoon, but you can put any movie or hip-hop video in there Remember, large movies take time to process during conversion, so use short or low res. It's not like the TV uses HD P.S. You can see screen reflections on the coffee table, so it's not fake Edited August 1, 2010 by Dominico

buzbegone
You can do this with the original IV. Conversion of even a 30 minute video takes a while and ends up with a file almost a gigabyte. I don't normally watch the TV anyway, something about watching it on my computer on a smaller screen when I can watch it on my 50-inch plasma seems a bit off-putting. Yeah, but my intention was to demonstrate you can use custom content in the game, I don't actually watch the movies on that tv. I wish Rockstar would create a folder just for that in My Documents, just like the custom music folder, where you can put .mp3s Imagine how would be like to see the interior of a car, in the game, and have an LCD display on your dashboard that shows your own videos. Wouldn't be great? Maybe they will add that in the next GTA game.
spaceeinstein
I never heard of a game using mainstream video formats (avi, mov, wmv, etc.) rendered in-game before. Most of the games I played uses gaming standard bik format. You idea may be wishful thinking. Edited August 2, 2010 by spaceeinstein

Yeah, Bink is an usual tool for game cut scenes and other movie clips, but there some who actually use standard .avi format. But that just expands the loading time which is bad. The idea of making a custom in-game movie came after I seen I can do that in Sims 2 and 3 (don't laugh, I actually played that). Anyway, the point is the .bik files are a little old since everybody uses them since the 90s and they have like really bad resolution and low sound quality, but, as I said, it takes less time to load them. Maybe in the near future uploading any video in a game won't be such a pain in the ass.

Dominico
Niko watching Tom & Jerry, this is the first thing that got into my mind Actually that's a Droopy Video I love Droopy, I have all Tex Avery's releases. They don't play that stuff on TV anymore, they think it's not suitable for the kids, because of the sexy redhead dancer. I believe all cartoons should be funny like this one, instead of stupid robotic creatures and teen mutants that make today kids retarded. Good old '49 cartoon still kicks Teen Titans ass.
