AlfieWilRus
I'm wondering how do you tell what VC version you have. Cause I want to download a 100% save game but I dont know what version I have. I got my VC copy from the Trilogy if that helps. Edit: I have the PC version. MyDog
VC version? I didn't know there are "versions" of VC.
QwertyAAA
I'm pretty sure that the Trilogy is just 1.0 or 1.1, which have no discernible difference as the 1.1 patch is just a graphical fix. Anyway, AFAIR. there are only two real versions: the retail and the Steam version.
radioman
The dude above me is right the only two versions are: Retail (in the form of Original and Trilogy) and the Steam Version. Saves are completly compatible with both Retail versions, however, the Retail saves are not compatible with the Steam saves, from what I have read on the Forum. For PS2, however, there is the Original, Greatest Hits, Double Pack, Trilogy Pack. The last three are 100% compatible with each other(the Greatest Hits and Trilogy are for sure, since I have tested this out), but the Original is not compatible with the later versions. Unsure about the Double Pack version? If you have the PC version, and downloaded saves will not work, then that means more than likely you have mods installed that are not compatible with the save.? QwertyAAA
EXactly. N.B. the only mods that would be likely to conflict with save games would be .scm ones. By the way, the D2D version is functionally identical to retail, i.e. 1.1.

Unsure about the Double Pack version? If memory serves me there are 3 incompatible VC for PS2 versions... 1. Original 2. Early double pack (III and VC)-- NOT Haitian friendly 3. Later double pack (III and VC)-- Haitian Friendly-- which include the greatest hits, and triple pack (III, VC, & SA) you CANNOT interchange saves between these versions... As stated previosly the retail PC and steam versions are incompatible although some mods work on the steam version. I'm not sure about the xbox version-- if there are any incompatible versions Spuds' GTA V 100% Checklist // My IV & Vice City Videos "I want to design a video game where you take care of all the people shot in all the other video games.... massrcor
how to tell which version of VC you have: Flip the disc over so you are looking at the data side, or silver side. in the center of the disc towards the hub, you'll see some ps2 logos and some numbers look at the number that starts with "PDSS" This number will tell you without a shadow of a doubt which version you have. NOTE: These numbers only work in the U.S. Other countries have different numbers. STAND ALONE VERSIONS (Black disc 'banner') PDSS-004995A1 - version 1.40 PDSS-004998A1 - Version 3.00 (Haitian Friendly) DOUBLE PACK VERSIONS (Red disc 'banner') PDSS-004995A1 - version 2.01 (original DBL Pack) PDSS-004998A1 - version 3.00 (Haitian Friendly) Source ^That page goes into detail about versions of VC. Spuds725
The gamesfaq link you posted is where I cobbled together most of my info... it is not up to date though.... does not mention triple pack at all The info I mentioned is accurate as much as I can tell-- besides the above link you posted I used info posted by our members... it is in one of my earlier posts (in somewhat more detail) Spuds' GTA V 100% Checklist // My IV & Vice City Videos "I want to design a video game where you take care of all the people shot in all the other video games.... Spuds725
It should have but i have never heard of compatibility issues... the haitian friendly versions came out about 6 months after the PC release in May of 2003.
