TSamee
I'm having some issues with the tweak in this thread My commandline.txt says "-height 800 -width 1280 -availablevidmem 1.06", but instead of being forced into a higher resolution from a starting point of 800x600, the graphics settings actually read 1280x800. I set the resolution to 800x600 before restarting GTA, and have tried this with "-availablevidmem" values both above and below my displayed VRAM of 489MB. I'm using an HP Pavilion DV5, with 4GB of DDR3, a Core 2 Duo running at 2.66GHz, and a GeFore 9600M GT with about 512MB of VRAM. I'm also using Razor1911 GTAIV launcher, although I own a legitimate copy of the game (EU Retail, non-Steam). I'm using the launcher because I find Rockstar's use of an incompetent networking platform (GFWL) and the world's most shamelessly inconvenient DRM (SecuRom), plus their own Social Club, gives us far too many hoops to jump through to enjoy a sh*ttily-optimised game. So, just to clarify: Instead of being forced into 1280x800, the commandline text seems to be changing my in-game graphics settings. Please help, and thanks. EDIT: With patch 1.07 applied you seem to be able to go 60-odd MB over the "memory limit"; to apply the fix you need to tweak the -avalablevidmem command until the game won't let you bump the resolution over 800x600, and then force the resolution in commandline. Obviously this won't work with any -norestrictions type commands. Edited August 1, 2010 by TSamee
IVSA_Guy
Dont use that tweak, it gives you alot missing textures when rotating the mouse. And you better off without commandlines. I have the same specs as you have but the CPU is different and lower speed. But the game runs decent on med settings. Why not using the Xlivesless? You'll get rid of these sacks of sh*t and garbage by MS and R* with their sh*tily GFWL and Rockstart Asocial Club. And you better not use the double memory command for GPU. Your 9600M GT might have max up to 2GB or more but you'll loose the system ram and then it will cause major stuttering. Although the 9600M GT is a really nice little GPU. After all, its not your laptop since you have a better one than mine. It ends all up to R* with their sh*tily optimised game. Lazy morons they are. TSamee
Hmmm... xliveless seems to have actually reduced my performance a bit. To be honest, I'm not looking for better fps, just a smoother framerate (it's prettymuch unplayable because I'm on 25 fps for the first twenty minutes, and 10 fps afterwards). Any tips for that?
