The-King
Uh... isn't glass the best light armor/best armor overall except daedric? Yeah, it's the best of the base light armors, but the ones in the display cases are the ceremonial versions which have the lowest stats/durability of all the armors in the game. Go to UESP for any questions you have about any Elder Scrolls game, it's amazingly helpful. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

I just have it on because it looks really cool. I fought somebody while i had that armor and weapon on and the weapon broke really quick and then the armor did. NinjaWJ
wait actually the only thing that is keeping me really attempting the main storyline a second time is those damn oblivion gates. if u want the final mission to be epic then you have to go into like 8 or 9 of them to get all the allies. its so teidous and repetitive

Rawra
Glass is not the best armour in the game. Amber armour, assuming you have Shivering Isles(A must get. Beats MQ 10x), has more durability than Glass, though at the expense of weight IIRC (But does anyone who plays Oblivion Vanilla honestly care about weight?). @toxicliquidr: I dare say the whole idea behind that was to piss a theif off as much as possible. Pick your way into Fighters' Guild or Mages' Guild or a castle and see Ebony/Glass, pick the lock and find it's quite literally useless and worthless. I find it quite unfeasible that you would have 500k gold at level 4. I have never ever, in my >3100 hours of playtime, come near that being from level 1-42. I do know it is possible, but it doens't seem plausible at level 4 as, in Vanilla Oblivion, loot and weapons and enemies are levelled to you so it is quite impossible to get expensive items. If you're on PC and use mods/cheats, however, then that's a different story. If you are of high enough level then: Hircine's shrine - reward: Savior's Hide. A little less durable than Glass cuirass, but with a 25% Magicka resistance and a lot lighter. Boethiah's shrine - reward: Goldbrand. In my opinion one of the best swords. A very high base damage and a 22pt fire damage enchantment. Umbra - Ayelid ruin(cant remember). Umbra sword. Arguably the most powerful sword for base damage at the expense of nothing. If you do not complete Clavicus Vile's quest, the sword remains at 0weight. I however do not like this sword as the permanent enchantment is soul trap. If you have Knights of the Nine installed: Do the main quest. The armour looks f*cking brilliant and its defense is brilliant. It levels up with you and everything has really good enchantments. No need to repair it, just re-place it on the stand and take it back. 100% again.

[SM]CJZera
Damnit, I hate how being a thieve is so hard in this game, I mean, when trying to sell stuff for the Fences to get more missions I was litterally stealing freaking cloth just because there wasn't everything else... And those damn hard locked chests with 5 gold coins inside really piss me off, Skeleton key ftw BTW: Am I the only one who played as an Altmer mage for the first playthru? I swear I spent hours talking to a friend who also did just mentioning our mages and spells, each of us seeing what we couldn't do for being expert in Destruction and not Conjuration in my case, and vice-versa in his case... 100%weakness and 100 dam for every elemental damage touch spell ftw! Rawra
My interest waned when playing a full mage. I played an Altmer as the mage but I just found it incredibly boring. No real tactic needed other than pressing <spell button>. Not to say Oblivion's sword combat is perfect, but it's more entertaining. Currently I am playing: Imperial Atronach birth sign Blade Block Sneak Heavy Armour Marksman Conjuration Alchemy
The-King
I tried a full mage several times and got bored after about an hour of gameplay every time. The lack of visually appealing apparel for full mages played a role, not to mention my lower FPS, so spells were difficult to effectively use. I always play a stealth/combat hybrid in Oblivion. Ranger type classes are fun as f*ck. You move fast and stike hard. I always loved jumping over bandits and slashing them in the air. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
freak2121
I love the bow and arrow in this game, once it's modded to be realistic. Then I turn the crosshair off and go deer/bear/wolf hunting.

And those damn hard locked chests with 5 gold coins inside really piss me off, Skeleton key ftw I don't even bother with the thieves guild until I have the Skelton Key, why bother becoming good at picking locks when you can get that, probably the most useful item in the game, the only one that comes close to it is the Umbra/Azura's Star combo which you can get both early on in the game. Also in my experience, the best place to rob is the jewelry shop in the imperial city, I made all the gold I need o do all the Quests after hitting that place, though you want to make sure the fence likes you so you can sell the stuff for a mint, actually anywhere with a high amount of jewelry is the place to rob, it all weighs next to nothing and there's allot of it in some places. (Castles, fancy estates, shops etc.) As for playing as a mage I tried it once, needless to say never played that save again and deleted it. Well I do hope a new TES is announced at Quake Con I’d be ecstatic.
Rockworm
Shivering Isles is the best expansion ever. I finished that and still haven't gotten close to the original games story lol. Rawra
Yeah Shivering Isles is pretty much a must - especially if you missed Morrowind's exotic landscape and creatures. Shivering Isles is a huge relief from Oblivion's Cyrodiil's mundane creatures and environment. The Main Quest of Shivering Isles is also a lot more thought-out and interesting, rather than 'deliver the amulet and stop the invasion'. I was actually quite surprised at the truth behind Sheogorath. Oh, did ya guys know that Oblivion's Cyrodiil wasn't supposed to be as mundane looking as it was? It was supposed to be full of massive overgrowth and rain forests, but they changed the lore to make it how it was in the game - likely the cba to do it. Mr.c TO the J: Vanilla theft requirements are extremely low. If you have OOO installed, everything is more difficult and the theft requirements go up to 15k needed. Oblivion's stealth is kinda borked unless you download a mod that makes everything darker(Let there be darkness) and Real Lights mod(All Natural). Then there truly are shadows and you can be very stealthy. If anyone is looking for a change of pace, and has PC, download OOO(possibly FCOM). It changes quite literally everything. Nothing really levels up with you anymore and when you start off from level 1-10 you will be extremely weak and vulnerable, but as you progress you become more powerful. More akin to Morrowind
Robinski
I played the sh*t out of OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul), it was simply the best mod for the game when I played. The sheer amount of new stuff was just crazy. This was about 3 years ago though, has there been any more versions released in that time? I imagine it could have only got better. Rawra
Well I honestly have no idea. There are other mods out there (Check TES Nexus) but I'd suggest combining it with FCOM because it adds the most diversity you can hope to get. Tamriel Immesion Experience adds a new flavour with stealth. Oh, Deadly Reflexes(wait for V6) is a must. If you're sneaky, it adds so much more to it and more to combat other than 'hit hit hit, block, hit hit hit, block' Also, if you're looking for eye-candy: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30054 Note that none of those images are photoshopped. I'm on PS3 or I'd look into it, though I'd most likely f*ck up on the install do to the fact I don't know sh*t when It comes to PC. Anyhow the only hard Quest on the thieves guild is stealing the elder scroll from the palace Though I had a hell of high illusion skill on one save and quite a bit of magika and a custom invisibility spell so I basically ran to there and back. Though as long as you careful that's still an easy quest, though that key arrow thing took like 700 tries my first game. Though this quest yields another great award also extremely useful, I forgot to mention it earlier, I’d just put on the grey cowl of nocturnal and go into a city and massacre guards until I was bored yield, great way to gain experience. It should be said that the grey cowl of nocturnal is a game changing item.
Rawra
In Vanilla Oblivion I found The Great Heist mission(The last one) rather difficult. Especially at a higher level. The dungeons were infested with wraiths-gllom wraiths and liches and skeleton champions etc. A high sneak skill was pretty much imperative. NinjaWJ
did anyone also think the Dark Brotherhood story is amazing? omg i was on my toes trying to figure out the crazy dude who betrayed the brotherhood the thing i didnt like about oblivion was that u had to enter many gates in the main quest and i hate long dungeon/puzzle secitons that u someitmes run into in the game
