In my oppinion, it makes have to master all elements of the game - shooting, driving, team work, flying helicopters, and knowledge of the city - more than any other. Me and my friends were addicted to it and kept playing Gran Turismo 2 till the silly hours. Seemed appropriate for the video, because GTA IV Cops and Crooks is my new favourite game! LCPFLeader Posted August 5, 2010 Share Posted August 5, 2010 On xbox, cops n crooks is pretty popular, the only problem is you have to have certain settings and you have to catch the lobbies at the right times. Players like Pole Position 2 and many others sit there and play it ALL DAMN DAY match after match, so if you manage to join in when a big lobby opens, you can usually play a good set of games with lots of people. For xbox settings its usually : AA - Off, Police - Off (obviously), FF - Off If you dont have those settings, try putting them on and try at a few times different in the day to see if you can get in a good game. All in all, Cops n Crooks & Witness Protection are 2 of the best things Rockstar ever did to a GTA IMO. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There's a good reason for this - experienced players on the cop team will most likely know all the possible spawn locations, and have made it there before you and have laid an ambush. You are at your most vulnerable getting into the vehicle. It will take a good three seconds, for instance, to fire up the blades on a helicopter, during which time you can't move or shoot back at anyone who pops up and attacks you. (If you've seen the film Predator at the begining where Arnie's boys storm the Guerrilla camp, you'll know what I'm talking about). As the Boss, you should aim at staying alive and avoiding the cops. The other crooks should attempt to secure the getaway vehicle for you and rendezvous at a safe location. Incidentally, on the PC a conscensus has developed that the Cops should not move or destroy the getaway - the regular players tend to kick anyone who doesn't obey this unwritten rule. Otherwise it is too easy to ruin the mode. EDIT: *Unless you can account for all the cops of course - e.g if you know there is four on the team, and you kill that many at the start, then you know they will respawn on foot and you should have time to go directly to the getaway. Against an experienced team though you will probably find they send some of them after you while the others search for the getaway. A J Posted August 7, 2010 Share Posted August 7, 2010 The same applies for Cops N Crooks on PS3, there are unwritten rules about how the game is played, but there are still those individuals who can't play fair. A lot of the time I play, its more like a deathmatch between cops n crooks, depends a lot on the boss, I always play All for One, one for all is no were near as good. Like Jimbatron said, its not always the greatest idea going straight to getaway as the boss, however since the update on the ps3, if a crook enters the getaway chopper then gets killed in it, the round will end even if the boss hasnt been killed or the getaway destroyed. You should definitely try just playing disallow USDM, it requires a lot more skill, and most of the people who play only allow use glitches and play like pussies. Ouch! We'd need to have a major rethink if that was the case on the PC. Sending a crook to secure the getaway for the boss makes sense in that they respawn infinitely, but you'll normally die a couple of times before you figure out where the camping cops are. If the game ends though this tactic is far more risky, especially since threats dont show up on the radar (unless you are the boss). Is it an intentional change by R* on the PS3 or do you think it is a glitch? Also it is interesting in that it seems to be the first notable difference in gamplay across the platforms that I'm aware of. Even little details like the Bomb the Base glitch at hangar 12 are the same on the PS3, Xbox and PC. Greetings to LukeDuke3 and the rest of the PC crowd! A J Posted August 8, 2010 Share Posted August 8, 2010 to be honest I have no idea, I only noticed it recently, games are ending all of a sudden a lot since the update, usually because the boss gets disconnected. I'm quite sure it only applies if the getaway is a chopper, the respawning crooks could get killed in a getaway boat without the game ending, does anyone know how it works on the xbox?
