Garfield 2
I installed IV on my PC again and I have a massive pop-in issue. Using -memrestrict Drivers 180.84 GTA IV 1.0.4.0 What could be the problem? Specs in the signature?

Garfield 2
Nope, do I need to defrag the whole HD or just the GTA IV folder?
GritEngine
Whenever I do the deed, I tend to do basic defrags, and end with an "optimized defrag" using Auslogics or similar with advanced mode: install -> defrag drive -> update windows -> defrag drive -> install softwares -> defrag drive -> install second partition media (steam client, having to redownload games or not is hit-or-miss for me) -> but same, defrag them -> once all "settled in" to the new windows, Optimized Defrag -> ??? -> profit. Might be over doing it, but I like them to be short bursts and not too spread out from waiting too long/too many steps. I'm thinking MAYBE, just MAYBE, you're using too high of settings, thinking that though your other specs are high, your video card is not holding it back. 9500 is pretty slow compared to the rest of your hardware. Have lowered settings help? I can say without a doubt High Textures are a no go.
Garfield 2
It's a 9600GT mate Reducing settings did not fix the problem.
GritEngine
Could be something else then, definitely try the defrag. 9600 isn't a huge leap up from 9500, and neither are bad cards. GTA IV is not particularly GFX bound anyway, other than memory-wise. I had hoped that it was some bottleneck somewhere there to be found and get you going smoothly, good luck, I hope you find a solution.

Ultraman1966
Might as well install the latest patch to see if it makes a difference.
Garfield 2
Might as well install the latest patch to see if it makes a difference. Noo! Definitely not installing the last patch. The last time it actually not only reduced my fps, but I had missing textures too.

DennisBerry
Try to update your graphics card driver to the newest one, they are way better then you got now. http://www.nvidia.com/ If it is not helping than try to update you chipset drivers. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...485&dl=1#driver Greetz, Dennis
mkey82
Have you tried various memrestrict values? A too low number will cause massive popup.
Garfield 2
Have you tried various memrestrict values? A too low number will cause massive popup. Yup, I either get the RESC10 error or pop-in. And another glitch I found: missing audio. For example no city ambience sound.
mkey82
Then memrestrict is probably not for you. You know, sometimes improper commandline usage gives good results. Try using memrestrcit with norestrict options or try using norestrict options without memrestrict. Also, sometimes a mild availablevidmem gives good results, like 1.5, but don't go above that. This audio bug happens pretty randomly, you may want to try various game versions.
Garfield 2
Just a quick note: EFLC works fine.
GritEngine
With that last post, now i wonder, did you have mods before? If so, maybe they were still present (if you manually deleted them after uninstalling/never had mods, then I yet again fail you here however, if you did have mods, and did not remove all files that were changed by yourself by hand after uninstalling, I would try a reinstall after doing so)
Garfield 2
The Hard drive was wiped out so I doubt any mods are still there
