AlfieWilRus
As the title says SA effed up my desktop. I was playing and all of a sudden the game froze. I tried ctrl alt deleting out of it but it didn't work so I pressed the restart button and guess what it had no OS after I pressed the restart button. FYI: I'm using my dad's laptop to write this topic. Another FYI: Its not downloaded, it was a legit copy. lil weasel
Root kit virus won't be detected by common anti-virus protection. Take the computer to a Tech and explain the symptoms. On mine when McAfee wouldn't registar They (McAfee) uninstalled it so that I could try a reinstall. Well as soon as I tried to reinstall I found my DVD drive wouldn't work, My internet connection woulldn't hook-up, etc. Co$t a couple of hundred to get it 'cleaned' up and working. Apparently the McAfee was only holding it back, and hadn't removed/prevented it. When the 'protection' stopped, BANG!
DylRicho
Do a full scan with this anti-malware tool. It found loads of hidden viruses and trojans last time I did one just after downloading a mod for the game. >.< You can use it with any antivirus tool you have such as MSSE and Norton - they work together. Download Don't worry about the message, that's my Windows Live account.

Well its in with a Tech but he says that the computer has to have a new OS installed because my old hard drive as he said was fried. So I'm just gonna see if I can find an XP Pro copy (close to impossible to find one now) and install it to the desktop.

DylRicho
It's not exactly impossible to still get XP. There are many places that still sell it.

It did but its all good now. I just had XP reinstalled and installed back all my games and I'm just very glad I made backups of all my important files on DVDs. I also got to give my dad back his laptop after it being at my house for almost a week.
