Do You Ever Do This?

Do you ever invent dialogue in your head? I have a nasty habit of "inventing" characters, storylines, and dialogue to fit with whatever I'm currently doing, whether its' playing Firefighter or just attacking an enemy gang territory. I've won awards at creative writing, so my natural "making up stuff" abilities may be why I do this (it may also be why I'm so dang weird ).

 

I just kind of think of dialogue between "characters" in my head, hear it.

 

I was just wondering if anybody else does that.

I think you're referring to fan fiction, I'm referring to making up a storyline/dialogue to go along with I'm currently doing in the game.

I do a little story of conspiracy in San An, and some hitman stories in IV. I love it actually, makes me appreciate imagination.

I do it all the time. Its like when I'm going on a rampage with an AK I'd think of myself as a terrorist. I also fly teh AT-400 into skyscrappers when I think of that. lol

I love to make fake missions in Destroy All Humans (and, to a lesser extent, the sequel), but I doubt it would work in this game . My only option is to find random people and kill them, really, or drive around, while making up justifications for it.

Sometimes, mainly to tie up any loose ends or whenever I ask myself,"Why the heck am I doing this, again?"

 

WARNING - This will be a long, long rant from a guy who thinks a little too much about video game stories :

1. Since CJ couldn't have learnt flying just by watching a TV IRL, I'd like to think that he'd be undergoing serious training under Toreno. During that time, he'd occasionally go to SF to take care of his businesses. This is also the time when Woozie would be supervising his Casino's construction.

 

2. During his stay in the desert, if questioned by Kendl or the others as to why he goes to the desert, he'd make an excuse of searching for new property for their business.

 

3. Before slipping off in the mission Stowaway, I like to think that Toreno tells CJ that he'd be busy for sometime so CJ won't hear from him for a few weeks. This would justify why CJ suddenly moves to LV and abandons the airstrip even though Toreno was serious business .

 

4. CJ would do some side missions because he'd be in need of money. Vallet-Parking to buy Zero's shop (he couldn't earn enough, got embarrassed working as a vallet and quit), the Trucking missions during his stay in the countryside to pay The Truth (for the drugs demanded by Tenpenny), the side missions (available after LV is unlocked) to buy the Airstrip, Bike and Boat school just for fun (he enjoyed the Driving School) and the Airplane Races to improve his flying skills (this is where he'd learn from the organisers how to handle the Hydra for the first time).

 

5. I'd like to think that some story events were non-cannon. For example, Toreno doesn't tell CJ that the Airstrip would not cost that much. Another would be CJ, putting on the scared lover boy act to impress Cat when she was held him at gunpoint (at least thats how I see it), doesn't seem to fit either. His over-reaction when he finds that Toreno was alive was also somewhat silly. I also treat Black Project and Green Goo as non-cannon. Also, since nobody in the Casino could know that it was CJ (in disguise) who robbed it, Salvatore couldn't have known that CJ was involved. So, to me, Salvatore's call shouldn't have taken place and I skip it when it take place.

 

6. In Black Project, during the drive to the army base, Truth instructs CJ on how to use the Jetpack (while hiding the necessary details as usual). It wouldn't take long because the Jetpack's control scheme would be easy to understand. Similarly in Vertical Bird, Toreno talks about fighter jets on the way before he reveals that he wants CJ to steal one. CJ, having previous experience (Military Service) would understand easily.

 

7. Having been fed-up by Sweet's taunts and insults, CJ would one day tell him everything he went through to free him and that would shut Sweet up for good. This would take place sometime before the final mission.

Off Topic :

Sometimes, I also wish that some missions were different. Dam and Blast should've taken place in the night and CJ should't have been detected by the guards. Similarly, Freefall could've been about tailing the Forrelli mobsters to their hideout and cap them there.
