Tsuroki
Back when we were all anticipating the launch of GTA IV, I (along with some other GTAF regulars) launched the GTA Netcast, a Grand Theft Auto podcast dedicated to covering the hype and tossing around opinions related to Grand Theft Auto IV. The podcast didn't last long, but dammit, it was fun! With aniticipation building around what the next GTA title could have in store for us, we're looking to bring the GTA Netcast back from the dead. And we want to know what you'd like to see. This is what we're currently planning: • I'd host the show along with a panel of cohosts. • Weekly episodes. They'd be 45 minutes per show (max). • Live broadcast of recording sessions. • We'd touch on stuff from all over GTAForums, but focus on GTA news when it happens. (Thanks to AndySerb for the suggestion.) • Include user-submitted content, poll/survey results, etc. • Have contests and competitions and giveaways and other such stuff. Go ahead and post your ideas in this thread. We're open to anything and everything! Edited July 23, 2010 by Andy

uNi
Would be nice to dedicate a max of 5 minutes to the forums as well, as in interesting threads/mods. It's great to see the podcast returning.

I think there was one in 08 or 09, but I'm not sure, since I didn't really start using this site until February.

There was as Lincoln State won Best Overall Topic, GTA Alderney won best details along with Lincoln State and i think and i won most Improved with my old GTA Sunshine State which is now GTA IV VC. Typhus
I think the key is to mix it up. Invite new members to speak on the podcast, reach out a bit, don't make it seem like a bunch of elitist gang-buddies cutting everybody else out regardless of their merit. Which things like this often are.

Which things like this often are. This is where the user-contributed stuff comes in. It's hard to get people to commit to recurring podcasts, and scheduling is a bitch when you're dealing with an international audience. Your point is noted, though. And I agree. I don't want this to become a love-in.
General Goose
So, any ideas on when the first show will be and who the cohosts will be?
Royal55
Is this the same podcast that Jordan used to do or is that completely different? I like this either way, I always like hearing other opinions besides mine, it gets me thinking. Anyway I'd like to see a weekly member question, in which a forum member asks about a certain subject each week regarding GTAIV or V and you all give your insight on it and maybe toss a question back at us? AndyGanteks
Just like the RDR Podcast, i look forward to this as well. For both pod casts, besides the usual stuff you've mentioned in the first posts here and there, you could take your time to scout some interesting sub-forums, like uni said. (gen chat, multi section, oga, IV&EFLC section, modding areas, interesting topics, etc for GTAF and same for RD Forums) I'm not really sure there is enough content on GTAF at the moment to do it weekly though, so maybe monthly would be easier for the people who do it(you and co-hosts), seeing that it takes a lot to edit, record, it takes dedication, so maybe it would be better to make something really great every month, instead of something just decent every week. Those are just suggs of course, and i could be wrong.

Jordan's podcast was completely separate from what we were doing. He was a solo act, we were a panel (Ottae, Tenacious_D and myself). We focused more on community banter and such. You can find the 3 shows we did over here: http://www.gta4.net/netcast (In a sense, we were actually competitors.) @ General Goose: First show will be in mid to late August, similar to the RDR podcast I'm doing for RDN. I don't know who the cohosts will be, though. I may run some auditions for it. @ Serb: You have a point, and I may end up doing it bi-weekly because of that. (Monthly would be too infrequent and I'd end up losing interest. ) I like your idea of spinning the GTA Netcast into a GTAF-wide thing, like the (now defunct?) GTAF Radio show. trip
Live radio format. I know of a very successful community based podcast that has been running for years using the live radio format. It's recorded live and members can call in and stuff. It really kept things fresh. It would also force a standing schedule that would make for scheduling special guests a bit easier. I love this idea, actually. One of my favourite aspects of doing stuff on ustream was the ability to interact live with viewers. And radio call-ins are awesome. TenaciousD.
Nostalgia trip from the pre-IV days right there, where I became the semi-permanent guest for the show. Having close to 2000 (If I remember correctly..) people listening live was such a thrill. I'm not sure I could bare to re-listen to them though. I look forward to whatever comes of this, the old GTANetcasts were always brilliant entertaining and interesting. Always up for coming on as a guest if you need/want Andy. Nativedeem
this is great, i love listening to podcasts about upcoming games. But usually i listen to developers podcasts like zipline. i dont know if you guys were already planning to do this but you should have a recap at the beginning of each podcast for the previous one. drscot
because i wasn't here before early this year, i didn't see the old one. i think it is a brilliant idea! you could have radio style phone-in's about different gameplay features, a bit like a live, verbal thread. EDIT: As some of you may know, i have started a massive concept, involving the entire U.S. Seth, kwandilibro and i are already writing certain aspects of it, so maybe people could phone in and suggest a storyline for the city or state they live in. The Notorious MOB
That was my first time to hear those podcasts. Their premise is good but no offense or anything but they are Veeerry Boring. I think having different co-hosts each week would greatly improve this. Talking about topics on this forum would also hold the listeners attention alot more. We likely wont get any info on the next GTA by the end of next month so the show will have to rely on this kind of content anyway.

It's not interesting now because it was all in the lead-up to GTA IV. We managed to hold the attention of 520+ individuals over a two hour recording session though, so obviously there was some interest around it. I do admit that the shows were rather dry. But we only did 3, which is barely a trial run.

It could be really good if there was alot of community involvement and there are alot of people on here who like to talk so that shouldn't be a problem atall . Kudos for not thaking my critique the wrong way man.. if this thing gets off the ground (which I'm sure it will) you have my full support.
