I'd be happy to set up a league, but here's the catch (for me, at least): I have to play all my games by Saturday! I'm moving to Paris on Sunday and won't even have a TV where I'm living, and certainly not my Ps3.

 

edit: I once played in a league where the only stipulation was "No 5-star teams" to try and level the playing field, I thought it was a nice idea! What do you guys think about that? (maybe 4-star teams and below??) Just a thought..

I remember I set up a 360 league on here before (someone else set up a PS3 one at the same time) and it fell on it's ass. Maybe we could do a tournament since that's easier to set up and manage than a full blown league.

is a Tournament even possible? i opted for the "playoff" feature when creating the league, but i didn't know a tournament was an option. I figure it's not anyways, because the options are extremely limited and EA really left out a whole heap of features that would make leagues more enjoyable.

Nah it wasn't a league in the game, I created a league on the forums with the intention of editing it with every result. I tracked down the topic. It was a bit of a pain in the ass editing it, a tournament, however, would be easier to manage.

 

Having said that, using the in-game league feature is also probably a better idea

 

Also, I didn't realise it was Fifa bloody 09 I created that for. Time does fly...

I can't get enough of FIFA. It's so addicting. I'm In my second season with Newcastle, I'm In the Europa League Last 16. In the league I'm fourth, 10 points behind Chelsea who are first (but I have two games in hand) Four points behind Manchester United who are second (I have one game In hand) and three points behind Arsenal (I have two games In hand other the Gunners)

I'm in my 8th season with Bayern Munich. I got Julio Cesar (Inter), Juan (Manchester City), Dani Alves (Barcelona), M. Ballack (some german club), D. Bentley (Tottenham), and my Virtual Pro. And yes, its addicting I know

 

I've been playing from Semi Pro, then it automatically changes to Professional, and now World Class. I'm getting the hang of it. World Class is by far the best difficulty, maybe it's because the playing style is similar like mine. Fast passing and tackling all over the place.

Oh yes just moved Into first! Still with a game In hand over Chelsea and I'm two points clear.

 

Also In the Europa League Semi-Final against Werder Bremen, First leg was at Werder Bremen and we drew 1-1. I'm about to play the Second leg.

I used to think that way. But the newer PES games are cack, they're simply too cartoony and I was really disappointed with PES10 which I bought instead of FIFA. The new features are quite good but I can't get away from the fact that everyone apart from the top players look exactly the same.

I don't think an in-game tournament is even possible. Opting for "playoffs" when creating a league is about as close as you can get (How that idea escaped the people at EA is beyond me). Only other way would be for someone to organize it, and then manually track and record results right here on the forums, and I'm sure as hell not doing that I've already moved though, so I don't even have a PS3 or TV anymore, but the GTA Forums league still exists for those who want to compete against each other in organized fashion.

Completely agree Gameplay in the FIFA series has come a long way and keeps getting better and better. But it's the little things about the game that really drive me up a wall, like the sh*tty menus, sh*tty replays, sh*tty creation center, and lack of freedom in gameplay (fifa used to allow cool stuff like malicious fouls - elbows to the face and slide tackling the keeper, anyone?) Hell, fifa even used to have cool codes like Invisible Walls, but those days seem long gone, sadly.

You can add me to the PS3 league, just keep me informed of when I need to play, I'm still pretty new to FIFA (this is the first one I have brought since the early nineties !!) was always a winning eleven/PES player, but Konami's standards have slipped, so I joined the EA bandwagon

 

I don't expect to come any higher than last place, but I will still enjoy the friendly competition although recently I have realised how easy the 1 - 2 is to break past defences of human controlled players so there may be hope for me yet !!

YES YES YES for the love of GOD YES.

 

Manager mode is SO CRAP. 50% matches 40% waiting for the calender to progress 10% rostering out injured/suspended players.

 

The GAME play itself is ok - I SWEAR i remember seeing kits get muddy etc (which don't happen anymore).

 

But TBH there's ALOT that needs fixing.

 

• Gloves: defualt colour is white - wtf who the hell wears white gloves? They look like f*cking surgeons!
• Manager Mode:
  • Anyone remember the little messages from the PS2? About advertising, and things. Where you could select things. EG: The press ask you something, you select an answer and that affects whether the press like you or the players or what... I saw one brilliant one about a christmas party (that pissed my player off cos i "took over" haha)
  • Remember the system in 2004 when you score goals? It'd come up with arrows on the replay, highlighting players. THAT WAS AWESOME
  • Bring in Mid-season customisation. The ability to edit player's haircuts, facial hair at any point in the season (but avoiding PES's overall system (in fifa you can create players, start a MM then save, then delete the players and they'd still exist in MM. In PES any change is reflected in all modes....) Also to edit the kits after a couple of season - let us redesign them to reflect fictional kit changes (This will not happen due to sponsorship though)
• Upgrade the graphics: It may just be me but 11's graphics arent as good as 10's or 9's. I dunno but the game seems more plasticy to me.
• FIX THE DAMNED ONLINE MODES! How many times have we gone online only for it to jst not work.
  • Fix the position select screen - merge this with the team select one. You select what team you want to play on (pro ranked) and what position. Therefor it's first come first served. I waited around for 5 damned minutes only for someone to come on in the last few seconds and take my position.... waste of time.
• GOALKEEPER KITS. FFS it's not hard. Every team in game has a sponsored kit, why not the GK's ? USE THE REAL KITS DAMIT
• GK kits again - why is there no "away" kit? I've played a game online where my GK kit was yellow, black shorts, black sock. My team's kit? Yellow, black shorts, black socks....
• Kit select - this is MY idea here - but introduce a tiered system. LEFT/RIGHT to select the home jersey, then down to go to shorts to select shorts and then to socks. Example: Chelsea FC - kits is blue top, blue shorts, blue socks. They have played in Blue blue white, or blue white blue, or blue white white. That'd be a great feature.

  Also here press Y/ to select the GK's home/away kit

• Online create a club - including kits - for the pro clubs. Create your own kits - home away third and GKs (H&a)....
• Let us use Created teams in MM. I+Ok not online that's fair enough (though you can with friends) but let us play OUR manager mode with OUR team.
• MAtch online Creation centre and the ingame one up. Why can't i create silver hair online? Why only select one of 6 faces? Give us all the options in one, not half in two!!!! (the ability to have custom players online so your friend can see the name etc is good thoughP
• Have a "Mute all" option online to mute all these 12 yr old screeching kids.
• Get rid of the "kick GK" option, or add "Kick player" where you can kick ANY player.
• Fix the goddamned AI in Be a GK offline (and online come to think of it)
• Fix the mechanics of Be a GK
• Allow Virtual Pros to have a "winter" clothes option (ie undershirts only worn during winter if chosen)
• Give the Virtual Pro EVERYTHING to begin with. Let me play the game, not work like a dog to even have any skill.
  • Change the starts system - When you create you VP, you have a limited amount of points to assign to each "category" (when creating players you could only before have an overall max) - that is you have X amount of defending points, then X ammount of attack etc. Therefore if you're really fast AND good at heading you can have both. Before with Create a player you couldn't have that
  • Keep the limitless assigning of stat points in create a PLAYER (not pro)

cant think of any more atm but for the love of god EA STOP locking half the damned game. By the time "CASUAL" gamers have unlocked half of it, the new one's out.

 

Also i'd like to see stats on your VP carry over from title to title so my pro in fifa 12 does not start of sh*t again. IT MAKES THE GAME BORING AND TEDIOUS. I play fifa a few times a week. i do not have time or patience to work hard to unlock everything. IF they keep doing this i just wont buy it.

 

But i agree with the "freedom" point - EA games do not give the player freedom really, only what they tell you to do. The games can feel more like a list of tedious tasks to unlock pathetic things (playing 50 games in the rain to unlock gloves?)

While we're on the subject of improvements, here's the things I want to see changed:

 

• More International Teams - for a game titled FIFA, you'd really expect the internat'l selection to be more representative of world football. I want to be able to play with:

• Côte d'Ivoire
• Ghana
• Nigeria
• Egypt
• Japan
• Saudi Arabia
• Israel
• Iraq or Iran (ideally, both!)
• Serbia
• Ukraine

• Menus -

• why am I forced to exit Online mode only because my opponent or myself don't want a rematch? It doesn't make any sense, there ought to be an option for something as simple as "play another online ranked match" so it doesn't kick you out to the main menu again. (I hate to make a bad analogy, but it's like: the only way to get from one bedroom to another in a house is to exit the backdoor and then re-enter through the front door. wft? • Indoor - it sickens me that the Wii got this feature yet the real fifa fans on Xbox and PS3 were shunned. I think adding just one indoor arena would breathe new life into the fifa gaming experience. Just imagine playing a fast-paced 5v5 game with your mates or online!

the mute function could be down to Microsoft as much as EA to be fair.

 

The volley thing you mentioned REALLY hacks me off. I have a team of created players that i've assigned to Gillingham for career. One of them is a volleying "expert" yet he only really volleys by flicking it up (right stick forward three times) then spanking it. I've had players drop prone to head the ball from outside the box - NO, they WOULD volley it!

This would be SO easy to fix - Left trigger (skill) + shoot/cross/pass = forced volley.

 

Also how many times have you gone to make a tackle (sliding) only for you to get the ball and just HOOF it? I think a slight remap is in order (perhaps L1/LB + X/Square to slide tackle....)

 

Also i noticed last night how you can only send ONE player on a run (Lb/L1) at a time. I sent my defender for a run as i held the ball up, then my midfielder too, and my defender dropped back. Ok, defenders dont normally go on runs, but what if i wanted to send 2 players on runs to give throughball options? Can't do it unless the CPU decides to do it for you...

 

Also soething that's REALLY bugging me and my mate:

Why do players constantly make effort to take shots on with their weaker foot? I had a player, right footed, cut in from the left wing. I shot and, instead of hitting it true, he shuffled and took it with his left. WTF is that! I was using finesse shot too - that can be gamebreaking at times, as it actually cost me the game (90% confident i would have netted the equaliser )

 

@ the international teams: I know why they DONT include them - it's so they can sell their poxy rip off of a world cup game, or Euro games. EA will NEVER include more intl teams in a normal fifa title. (really pisses me off as my fave player is ukrainiian and is not in Fifa11 AT ALL, so i had to create him )

Shooting Left/Right footed - I understand your frustration, and this too upsets my friend very often, but a lot more than it does me. I feel like it comes down to things like balance, pressure, and composure. For example, when dribbling, if your right-footed player happens to have his right foot planted at the very instance which you command a shot, then he's going to use his left foot. In a weird way, I never minded it so much, and kinda appreciated the precision required when placing your shots on goal. My friend had always suggested using the and triggers to determine which foot is used when shooting, but I'm not sure how that'd work it with those buttons already being assigned to other functions.

 

International Teams - sadly you're right. But hey, those Euro and WC games have a lot more to offer I think than just teams. They offer the entire qualification process leading up to the tournament, the extended cut scenes of the fans and coaches, which adds a lot to the atmosphere in the stadiums. Speaking of stadiums, they offer each and every venue that is to be used at the tournament. All of these things would still be novelty features making it a uniquely different game than the yearly fifa editions. And besides, I'm only asking for International teams that are a "major powers" in their respective geographical region. I don't think that is asking too much. If I want to play as Vanuatu or Bangladesh, then yeah I'll wait for the WC game..

 

Volleys - i found double tapping the shoot button to sometimes work. But still, it was never a guarantee. I like your suggestion of simply using the L-trigger button to force a volley. I don't care if my player whiffs the ball every time, but I want the freedom of performing bicycles kicks all over the field if i really want to. This is what the perfect football game should be, total freedom to play how you want.

 

Audio - to be honest, I've only ever heard that complaint from xbox users, so I'm guessing you play on xbox too?

Xbox - yes i do. Its a minor complaint though - i just plug my mic in and mute it. Solved.

 

INTL teams - yeah i agree with you. It isnt too much to ask for all the major teams. It works with ranking though. Ukraine for example dropped in rankings so they just fell out of the "top X" number of teams therefore they're not in the game. It sucks but hey.

 

Shooting L/R - Nice idea from your mate and i thought the same but it'd be impracticable. You wouln't be able to sprint-shoot, or chip or finesse etc.

But what does LT/L2 do when shooting? As far as i'm aware, nothing. Perhaps THAT can be used to force a strong-footed shot... as it can for forcing volleys.

I understand body shape etc has an effect but when you're in space, one on one, angling in at that perfect angle, shaped for your right, the player actually shuffles to awkwardly hit it with he weak foot, thus scuffing the shot that would likely have been a beauty.... that hinders the game. Realism's fine but in real life a player would not do that. That'd be like playing GTA, setting the controls for left handedness when you're right handed. Just no...

 

How rare is it we see overheads though!

 

 

The sad thing is? EA will never listen, they will never read anything like this (you seen the amount of this kinda thing on their forums? 90% say they suck) and, once the game's released they don't care. No real patched (except to sell UT) no bug fixes, no AI fixes.

I personally guarantee you that all these problems we have will be back in 12. Every year they say "we've fixed this" and they never do.... Lazy, selfish, greedy game makers...

I must admit i jst want to re-sign Sheva to Chelsea. but the game should have more in it. It makes me wonder, does the american version have more american leagues/teams in?
