cidamelo
luceberg now my pc is formatted so I don't know if it is corrupted. I haven't installed any game yet. I'm afraid of installing something and my computer brake again . But I'll answer these questions before my computer was formated, and after I changed my hard disk. Do you have bad shutdowns or blue screens events? I only had it one time, when I was playing GTA IV (it wasn't lagging, it was running normally) and then the computer froze and then I couldn't turn on the computer anymore (the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 didn't load). I was running GTA IV with high priority, by going in "Task Manager" and then in "Processes" And then rightlicking in "GTA IV" and choose "high priority". This makes my GTA IV faster, is it dangerous? But before it, I installed The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion Pack. The instalation was normal, but when I was playing The Sims, the game froze and then a very fast blue screen of death appeared, but I couldn't see what was written on it, since it was gone very fast, and the computer restart. But what Fraps has to do with it? I wasn't using Fraps............... I'm afraid of doing anything strange in the computer, I'm traumatized I like to discover new things, but I always mess up with everything! I'd buy it, but my husband wouldn't give me the money He doesn't know nothing about computers and he thinks it isn't worthy to spend money on computers I wanted to buy a XBOX360 for my son, but he prefered to win a notebook But I don't like consoles very much, I rather computers, and I want to have a good computer. My computer rarely gave me problems, but now he always give me problems!!!! I think I'm cursed
luceberg
Ok, well don't run games on it until the problem is sorted. Can you download a program that shows your cpu and gpu temperatures? Here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html Under download latest release, click "1.16 setup english". Install the program.
cidamelo
luceberg my computer case already shows the temperature. It's 28 degrees (I'm only in the internet). I think it's accurate. I'm afraid of install anything right now, since Fraps ruined my computer. But maybe my computer doesn't have this problem anymore. The Windows was reinstalled
luceberg
Sorry, if you wont do as I ask, then I am wasting my time. I want the cpu temperature, not the case temperture. I am away for the weekend, so cannot help for a bit anyway.
cidamelo
luceberg sorry, I thought the case temperature was the pc temperature I'm scared to install anything after Fraps ruined my computer, but ok, I'll do what you ask. I downloaded it, and it says my CPU temperature is 32 degrees (I'm not ruining anything, just Internet Explorer 7.0 and AVG, but I'll uninstall AVG because it steals a lot of memory) Luceberg are you a technical
luceberg
Me, technical? No! I had no idea that Fraps could cause a computer to break. I must be really stupid!!
cidamelo
luceberg but you should be one! You're very inteligent and you know a lot about computers Thank you for help me! I don't know why Fraps ruined my computer too. I searched on internet for people who had problem with Fraps, and I haven't found anyone Maybe it was a key problem?? It's so strange...... I think the technical messed up with something in the instalation, and blamed on Fraps!!! (I think he wouldn't be crazy to blame the The Sims or the GTA, I'd be mad. )

Star-Lord
I'm going to take a shot at the dark here, but it sounds more to me like you having a power issue. You said you just had to change your power supply, while continuing to have power on issues. So that's where I would start. If you still have the old power supply make sure you compare specs and that your system is getting enough juice to operate under normal load. Even though it might be new that doesn't mean it didn't arrive defected from factory or that it could also be under-powered for your specific hardware needs (Ghx, amount of drives, add-ons, etc, ect). Note: Viruses, Trojans etc..etc. DONOT prevent system from powering up. You could remove memory, HDD, etc..etc. and it would still power up as long as the power supply and motherboard were good. cidamelo
Hi pcguytech_2005, how do I know my PSU is ok? I think it's ok. My computer turns on fast, and I don't feel the "burnt smell" which I always feel when my PSU is dying.
luceberg
Hi cidamelo, can you go to this link and download Macrium Reflect? http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp There is an option to create a recovery cd. Choose the linux one. Make a cd per instructions and boot up with it. See if it works and that your drives are recognised.
cidamelo
Thank you luceberg, I'll do it! But unfortunately I don't have a empty cd right now When I have one, I'll create this disk!!!!
Star-Lord
Hi pcguytech_2005, how do I know my PSU is ok? I think it's ok. My computer turns on fast, and I don't feel the "burnt smell" which I always feel when my PSU is dying. Well in that case I wouldn't worry. However, just pay close attention to things like random lockups, spontaneous reboots, and even some odd error messages. If you are a person who shuts their PC off at the end of the day -- leave it on all night. If when you wake up in the morning everything is OK, I would then rule out the power supply. cidamelo
Since I formated my PC nothing strange happened yet. But I haven't install almost anything (I only installed The Sims 1). I turn off my pcs at night and then I turn them on in the morning, they don't stay on all day
