I'm planning to implement a fix for widescreen resolutions based on Squiddy's idea. Here's a preview of things to come:

Ooo, there is a difference between the 2nd and 3rd picture, man, it look very similar to me, what difference are we looking for anyway?

EDIT: If you think about how far the camera is from player, I think after view is better, but that is not that important.

I really hope that this widescreen fix will work with Steam version of the game. As much as Squiddy's mod is awesome, as long as it doesn't work with Steam version, it's useless to me.

Is there anything on the modder's side that can be done to make it work?

It would make me immensly happy.

This mod is entirely version-dependent. Right now it only works on v1.00 US. I'm not even sure if CLEO VC works in the Steam version. If you could send the gta-vc.exe file, then I could try to make it work on the Steam version.

 

Update: 8:5 res will look less squished than the settings I had before. 16:9 is now supported. The stuff I did to get 16:9 support means that the fix should work on all resolutions with ratio higher than 1.6 (8:5). So those super widescreen should look a whole lot better with this fix. The main problem I'm having right now is that the environment that is usually off-screen would usually be unloaded. This mod will make that unloaded environment be a lot visible than before.

After some thought, the only other reason I can think of is not having CLEO.asi updated. The one I supplied is the latest version.

 

Well I'm not at my usual computer anymore again and didn't think of sending myself the file to avoid distractions. Might have to wait until December for another update. I was working on the ability to save the values that you can set. I wanted to use unused global variable for storage so I had invested massive time to compile a giant list of global vars. I hope VC CLEO have the ability to save by the time I return updating my mod.

Sorry, right now I'm working on learning the file formats of the Stories games. When I'm done with that, I may work on the Steam version next.

 

EDIT: I'm sorry, I wasn't able to open the exe file linked above. I don't know why IDA couldn't open it properly. I am currently rewriting parts of the code so that I can implement future additions much, much more easier. Stay tuned.

I mostly like those non-cheat options like setting gang cars or cop weapons, so awesome!

We just need a possbility to save the options (so I don't have to change them when launching game again) but it's still epic!

Offtop: Could u upload your ENB series version and settings?

Dear spaceeinstein, sorry for the bump but I'm just curious, in what version those choices will be enabled as I'm very interesed in them:

Law

- set wanted level appearance of officers

- set weapon of officers

- set accuracy of officers

- set armor of officers

? And aswell, when you answer, when that version of mod will be released?

I had planned to release an update last month with the new features including those but I currently have no access to my computer for at least a month. I'll get the update uploaded when I have the chance. I made the post edit before I lost access to my computer and I didn't feel like reverting it back.

I have huge troubles on trying to find ways to save the settings. The current method is incomplete and will cause problems if I release an update to the mod. If CLEO VC had more people working on it, this problem can be solved by having the settings saved to an external file.

I don't even use native widescreen resolution. I use 1024x768, and Widescreen is set to Yes.

 

What you posted there, seemed very good, cutscenes looked good, the map locations is fixed, but eventually, the aiming went off-point again. No idea why.

Someone had made another one here so I'm not going to update mine anymore. In the future, I might have to remove mine so that the other widescreen fix can be compatible.

 

I have uploaded the source code to this mod. Do whatever you want with it, but provide credit if you are using a large chunk from it.
