DustyRider
IV era ain't over, rockstar probably creates new VC as we speak, more miami look-a-like this time, bigger remodeled with some swamps with rednecks maybe? hehe
mediocore
The way I see it, It's stupid to call it 'IV era' Every game has had a completely new era with new characters. Yes, III and VC had Tommy but other than that it was a whole new story and setting. I think we'll have a completely new character, in a revised version of one of the cities we've already seen and it's more than likely the game will be loaded with familiar faces. I imagine finding a Niko who's given up on life, living on a bench or under a railway bridge or something.

That is what defined it as a cohesive story. When IV came out, they cut all ties with that story. Not just a new environment or new story, but completely new world. You will never see the Sindacos in the IV era, but they were in every game in the III era.
Sam998
I have yet to see confirmation of this, and GTA IV and two DLCs don't seem like a full Era to me. I mean the GTA III Era had GTA III GTA Vice City GTA San Andreas GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA Vice City Stories. And GTA San Andreas is bigger then the current GTA IV Era on it's own. They could easily go that route again, and then make GTA VI into a giant era like GTA III was, just on the PS4/NeXtBox.

Certainly possible but I actually don't think a PS4 or "neXtbox" is coming out anytime soon. And even if they where I'm not sure it would exactly be that fun to have another one game Era even if it would be followed up by an awesome 5 game one. Which by the way could take a while I think you're wrong. Might wanna check that last bit. Sorry, I'm wrong. Vice City and San Andreas sold more. Thanks for correcting me. Well, what could come out of a one game era is things that could never be in other GTAs, like say, a futuristic setting, with jetpacks and flying cars being common sights and the killing off of all the major characters. That, or they could take it drastically in a different route with like set in a massive area that couldn't be done as a multi story game.

But the (arguably) biggest game in the series so far, San Andreas, managed to also fit in the biggest era in the series. So since i highly doubt they are going to top San Andreas in the next GTA theres no reason they couldn't keep building off the GTA IV era.

GTA III totally led the location for GTA IV, it's just a "modified" version of it. lil weasel
Can you Guys Lay Off the QUOTES. Just use the Fast Reply and Reply button on the Bottom. All the QUOTEs are taking a lot of useless bandwidth and making it more difficult to read. Basics: GTA Vice City (fair graphics) was an interesting stepping stone to San Andreas. I didn't like the idea of Mafia drowning when knee deep in water. GTA San Andreas is fun, Open, and playable game with interesting charactors. GTA IV is (pretty) sad, clostraphobic, uninteresting game with dense boring charactors.

Jabalous
The question that needs to be asked. If Rockstar North is following a certain pattern in their releases of GTA games, why would have they been doing that? is there a clear reason for this?
