- Difficulty:Easy. The only thing the player has to do is to drive Luca to his house.

Undertaker's request

- Length: Short, as it can be done in about 3 minutes. The player has to go to a certain location and beat up a man.

Meeting the Don

- Length: Short, as it can be done in about 3 minutes. The player has to drive to the Don's house where he meets the Don. He welcomes Mike to the family.

- Variety: Good. Characters include Tom, Mike, Sonny, Tattaglia's goons, Don's guards. Weapons include SMG, shotgun, piston. Vehicles include Hustler.

The meeting

- Length: Good, as it can be done in about 6 minutes. The player goes to a restaurant to kill McClusky and Solozzo. Then flees to Sicily via a ship.

- Difficulty:Hard. Killing the two is easy as they have no weapons. But the escape to the docks can be a bit hard under a three star wanted level.

- Variety: Decent. Characters include Mike, Sonny, Solozzo, McClusky. Weapons include pistol. Vehicles include Hustler.

Overall the missions were good icon14.gif . The story started with the basic missions and the missions got harder and more action packed as the story progresses. Most of the missions are short in terms of gameplay. Difficulty of missions are varied so, there is no problem in that. The missions were well designed by the author and hope the author continues with the good work biggrin.gif

A question to the mission reviewers on this page. Do you use DYOM V6 or DYOM V6.1?

Cause I have a storyline (2 x 8 missions) almost ready to get uploaded but it is important that I know wich version you use. Because in DYOM V6.1 your heatlh slowly regenerates so if you use DYOM V6 (where your heatlth doesn't regenerate) some of my missions might be unfairly hard.

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review four missions made by alucardiff. These are part of The Aftermath mission pack.

You can download the four missions there: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=14104

Now to the reviews;

- Writing: Very Good. There are a few mistakes, but they are not a big deal to mess with the understanding of the missions.

- Presentation: Very Good. The cutscene angles are generally good, though some are a little bit showing too much instead of showing only the main thing: the actors.

The Great Escape

- Length: Too Short. The mission lasts one minute and his only made of cutscenes showing how the main character is freed of his slave life.

- Difficulty: Very Easy. The mission is only made of cutscenes showing of the character is freed of his slave life.

- Variety: Decent. There are seven type of actors which are mechanicians, LS rappers, and few other casual ones. The only vehicle in it is a Barracks (Barrack OL).

A Few Years Ago...

- Length: Short. The mission lasts two minutes and his only made of cutscenes showing the main character in his savior's village.

- Difficulty: Very Easy. The mission is only consisting of cutscenes showing a discussion between one of the main character savior's and the protagonist.

- Variety: Could be Better. There are no vehicles, weapons, or objects in this one, only two actors which are a mechanician and the protagonist.

First Blood

- Length: Good. The mission is six minutes long and the main character must take the local dam from a band of slaves.

- Difficulty: Medium. The difficulty varies from the parts of the mission. The part where we need to clear up the slaves near the 'entry'of the dam can be hard if you don use cover, but a heashot is your best friend in this situation. The rest of the mission is easy as you can simply headshot the enemies from distance.

- Variety: Very Good. The mission has thirteen different type of actors which are LS rappers, the main character, a mechanician, two casual pedestrians, and drug dealers with the grey hoody. The cars are a Boxville and a Pony. The only object in this one is fire and it is spawned four or five times. The weapons consists of SMG, Micro SMG, 9mm, AK-47, and Shotgun.

Too Many Choices

- Length: Too Short. The mission lasts one minute and only consists of a few cutscenes in which the protagonist is offered a place in the three different main factions roaming the desert and driving.

- Difficulty: Very Easy. The mission is split half cutscenes and half driving. There is nothing dangerous during the driving.

- Variety: Good. The are eight different type of actors which are mafia guys, bikers, usual peds, mechanician and the protagonist. The only vehicles found in this mission are two Freeways and the same fire object from last mission is there.

Overall, the missions could be better... bored.gif Someone looking for usual medium missions will be disaproved by these ones as they are mostly easy. The drawback in the missions is that when there's a good criteria like difficulty, there's another one lowering the rate of the missions. The designer should try to balance these factors to make them more interesting. I liked the use of cutscenes describing some of the protagonist's actions, but some of them were unecessary. The story promises to be interesting, though post-apocalyptic mission packs are the current currency nowadays. If the designer could improve what needs to be improved, he could turn out a good one. Anyway, keep improving and keep up the, hum, good work (?). icon14.gif

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by IXMJXI. They're part of his Dark Synopsis series.

Please click on the link below in order to view the topic and find links to download them:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=482206

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good There are no noticable mistakes in grammar and the text is understandle. Coloured texts have also been used.

- Presentation: Very good Cutscenes have been used in some cases to explain the story. The cutscenes are well focused and timed. The characters have been given animations to make the missions more lively.

Dark synopsis

- Length: short as it can be done in two minutes. A plane is transporting a dangerous hitman who is trained to kill and survive. The plane crashes and Walker assigns some officers to investigate.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission is only cutscenes.

- Variety:Decent. Characters include officers, the hitman, pilot, Walker.

Prisoner on the run

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in about 10 minutes. Gamble and Frozt start in a forest looking for some clues. As they make their way to Angel Pine, they come across strange things like dead bodies and destroyed cars. At Angel Pine they find Harry who is seriously injured and dies after sometime. Gamble and Frozt finds out that there is more than just a criminal on loose.

- Difficulty: Normal. Even though the enemies are few and easy to kill, the long walk can be tiring for players and also searching for the checkpoints with no markers can be a bit difficult.

- Variety:Good. Characters include Walker, Gamble, Frozt, Harris. Vehicles include Helicopter, Pick-up trucks.

Dead ahead

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in about 13 minutes. Gamble and Frozt split up to search for clues. Gamble finds a series of notes which leads him to Mt. Chilliad.

- Difficulty: Hard. Although the enemies are few, the weapons they carry makes the mission hard. There are two enemies in a house in Mt. Chilliad who carry sprays, so if one of them gets you its very difficult to survive. There is also a surprise attack by a Zombie in a truck, and the player has to react very fast to it. There are also a series of notes the player has to look for and there are no markers kept for it.

- Variety:Good. Characters include the Zombies, Gamble, Kutch, Frozt. Weapons include chainsaws, SMG's, spray cans.

Mysterious cliff

- Length: Excellent,as it can be done in about 10 minutes. Gamble climbs to Mt. Chilliad where there are more zombies. He finds a lot of information in a computer.

- Difficulty: Normal. Although there are many Zombies, the fights takes place in the open so giving a place for the player to keep distance from them. The notes are also not that difficult to find because of very few houses.

- Variety:Decent. Characters include Gamble, Zombies. Weapons include chainsaws, spray cans, knife.

Overall the missions are good icon14.gif . Gameplay and storyline has been well balanced. The story has also been developed with great detail using the time out and phone objectives. The missions have a great aspect of originality by the use of notes and diaries to explain the story. This mission pack involves a lot of thinking to do as to where the next checkpoint is because there are some which have no markers. Nevertheless, the author did a good job in designing the missions and must keep up with the good job. biggrin.gif

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by GTAIndonesia. They're part of his Raw Danger: Duty Calls series.

Please click on the link below in order to view the topic and find links to download them:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=481199

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Good Even though the text was not so many, there were no noticable mistakes. Also coloured text was used.

- Presentation: Could be betterVery few cutscenes have been used.

Living quarters outbound

- Length: short as it takes about 3 minutes to complete. Officer Thompson talks to some officers.

- Difficulty: Easy. The only thing the player has to do is to walk around and look for officers.

- Variety:Decent. Characters include Thomson, Timothy and some other random officers.

Insecurity

- Length: short as it can be done in about 2 minutes. Thompson has to make his way to the lift and fix it. Later the whole place starts to blow up.

- Difficulty: Easy. The only thing the player has to do is to make his way to the lift under a 5 star wanted level. The mission is still easy because the police are not that effective and is easy to escape them.

- Variety:Decent.Characters include Thompson and some scientists.

Duty calls

- Length: Very short as it can be done in about 1 minute. Thompson has to go to the top floor and look for a scientist who later gives him a password.

- Difficulty: Easy. Although there is a 5 star wanted level, the police are not effective if you just run past them.

- Variety:Decent. Characters include Thompson, scientist, and the police. Many random objects also included.

Surface

- Length: Very short as it can be done in less than one minute. Thompson has to escort Riley in to room.

- Difficulty: Easy. The only thing the player has to do is to escort Riley to a room.

- Variety:Decent. Characters include Thompson, Riley. Many random objects also included.

There is still a need to put more effort in the missions as most of them have just 'Go to .....' objective. The story is not understandable as there are very few texts used. The author has not included any detail of the story. Nevertheless, the author tried to design the missions and should improve on his missions next time. biggrin.gif

General Scrotum

As I posted this review on alifjenius thread and he asked me to post it there, here it is. A complete review of his first chapter of SA Noire. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=485561

- Writing: Very Good. The missions generaly contain basic and advanced English, but there are some repetitive errors here and there. Still, it doesn't mess the understanding of the mission, for most of the cases.

- Presentation: Very Good. The cutscenes present in the missions have good angles and each of them has their own feeling; war, sorrow, etc.

First Case

- Length: Good. As the mission can be done in five minutes, the player plays as John while he is walking around Las Barancas then hears a gunshot.

- Difficulty: Easy. There is no shootout or car chase involved in this mission. The player have ten minutes to find a gun that will prove he didn't murder the person Paul, a friend of John which is also a Sheriff, says he killed. The gun is close of the player.

- Variety: Decent. The actors include John, Paul, the priest, the ex-army and the two paramedics. The weapon and object used in this mission are a Desert Eagle and a breakable barrier.

Behind the Patrol Desk

- Length: Very Good. As the mission lasts seven minutes, the mission mainly base itself on one of John's souvenirs of the Civial War in 2009.

- Difficulty: Medium. The player launch an assault on a terrorist base and most enemies have good weapons with good accuracies and somewhat good health. The best way to get rid of them is to shoot them from distance and use cover when possible.

- Variety: Very Good. The mission contains John, soldiers such as Luis, county sheriff, many different terrorists, Rhino's, M4, SMG, Shawn-Off Shotgun, and many objects that constitute the base.

Armed and Dangerous

- Length: Very Good. As the mission lasts for nine minutes, John and his partner Luis respond to a bank rob in Las Barancas.

- Difficulty: Hard. Most enemies outside the bank have weapons capable of shooting from distance and the rest have powerful close range weapons. The best way to deal with them is to shoot them from a distance and use of their vehicles' explosions to deal extra damage. Inside the bank, enemies carry powerful weapons and the best way to get rid of them is to stick to one of the walls and headshot the enemies, note that they are not headshotable, to knock them down on the ground then doing the same with another one making it easier for the player to finish the mission.

- Variety: Good. The mission contains Shotgun, 9mm, Landstalker, AK-47, The wrecked up truck, Rancher, Luis, John, Boris, one or two more weapons, and a few cover and bank objects.

Fallen Idol

- Length: Very Good. As it lasts seven minutes, the player needs to head to a radio station in Fort Carson to assist in the protection of a politician.

- Difficulty: Medium. The player needs to protect a politician making an interview at the local radio station of assassins hired to kill him. Although the enemies have good weapons, the best way is to blow up their cars and take cover in the Pay n Spray shop which is nearby.

- Variety: Good. The mission contains the usual wrecked up trucks owned by the criminals, the 'Brand New' car, the usual weapons; a 9mm and a Shotgun, John, Luis, Brando, the police officers, a Stretch, objects; doors, the usual terrorists skins, and their usual weapons.

Memories

- Length: Good. As it lasts five minutes, it shows a flashback of John attacking a terrorist farmhouse two years ago in the Civil War.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission consists of attacking a terrorist base, in one of John's souvenirs of the Civil War, with your allies. The enemies have good weapons, but yet again, you can simply shoot them from distance and use cover if they are to close.

- Variety: Excellent. The mission has many objects making the base, around fifteen, John, Luis, Vito, Boris, the 101st division, the 95th division, the three usual terrorists skinned enemies, a Rhino, a plane which I don't remember the name, the usual weapons used by the terrorists, about four, plus the weapons used by John and his allies.

Money Talks

- Length: Very Good. As the mission lasts seven seconds, the player must attack a terrorist base to take back the truck containing the money from the bank rob of a previous mission.

- Difficulty: Medium. You must assist some Sheriffs assaulting the Tee-Pee Motel where the Securicar having the money from the bank rob of Armed and Dangerous. The enemies have good weapons, but you can shoot the ones near the entrance easily from distance. Once you are inside, use cover because they can wound you badly easily and pretty quick. There's also an hidden Sniper Rifle on the nearby bridge.

- Variety: Very Good. The mission contain John, Luis, Paul, Boris, some county sheriffs, the three usual terrorists skins, at least six different objectto make the base, a Sniper Rifle, the usual weapons you get; a Shotgun and a 9mm, and other weapons such as a AK-47 and the usual used ones by the 'Traitors'.

Funeral Situation

- Length: Very Good. Lasting eight minutes, the mission is pretty straightforward. You are at Luis funeral and the 'Traitors' attack you.

- Difficulty: Hard. The 'Traitors' attack you while you are 'celebrating' Luis funerals' at the police station. The ones with the vehicles can be dealth with easily, the ones on the roof requires you to take cover, and the final wave consists of three Hunters attacking you with a suck-ass RPG team assisting you.

- Variety: Very Good. The mission consists of Paul, John, a priest, some county sheriffs, four different type of terrorists, some objects, two or three, the usual wrecked up trucks of the terrorists, three Hunters, Body Armor pickups, M4's, Rifles, Rocket Launchers, and some more weapons.

Roll Over Podolski

- Length: Very Good. As it lasts eight hours, John and the San Fierro Police Department launch an attack on Podolski's Ranch.

- Difficulty: Medium. There are two groups assisting John and Paul in the assault on Boris's Ranch; the County Sheriffs and the SFPD. The best way to complete the mission is to shoot Podolski's bodyguards from away and to use cover when in close combat. Most of them can be killed from distance leaving a few ones to be killed from close combat.

- Variety: Very Good. In this mission, we can find some SFPD cars, some Ranchers, some Police Mavericks, M4's, Tear Gas, Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, the usual weapons and vehicles used by the enemies, a moderate ammount of objects such as crates, garage door, etc., Paul, John, George, the hostage girl, and Boris.

Overall, the mission are good. icon14.gif While they are not too hard, they can still entertain the players. Some cutscenes such as the protagonist presenting himself in the first mission were good, though the repetitive cutscenes with reference to DYOM can be a little bit annoying after while (i.e. RPG team saying they have stupid AI, the sky saying to us to prepare for a two years back or ago, etc.) The story is interesting though some factions or characters could have been developed more (background story, and all the like). Anyway, the story is pretty good. I'll definitly play more missions and don't forget: keep up the good job. I give this mission pack a 8/10. biggrin.gif

GTAIndonesia

Nevertheless, the author tried to design the missions and should improve on his missions next time. biggrin.gif

Do you have time to review the other missions?

The police wasnt supposed to be there so use No police cheat

Anyway thanks

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by Gorgonit. They're part of the 2nd episode of his Harry Gibson's story series.

The missions can be downloaded at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=482514&st=0 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good, as most dialogues and descriptions are very well written, although a few of them have structural and typing mistakes. Also, nice text colorings in order to facilitate the readings.

- Presentation: Excellent. Nice viewing and timing between different cutscenes. There's also a noticeable amount of objects, vehicles and actors that can be found in these missions, which make the missions much more alive and massive.

Time Bomb

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 10 minutes. The player plays as Harry and has been tasked by Ryan to kill one of his loan sharks named Mr. Carl by luring him inside a decoy car armed with explosives in which looks identical to his car. Most of the mission involves lot's of road travelings.

- Difficulty: Hard. This mission can be very confusing, especially the decoy car explosion part, as the player might fail the mission without knowing what is going on. To avoid this, the player must spread the police cars away from the explosion radius, as they have the "must survive" options. Anything else is average, such as killing the enemies with average accuracies and less tight time limits.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Harry, Ryan, Mac, Mr. Carl and his guards. The weapons include desert eagle, shotgun and pistol. The vehicles include police bikers, Harry's, Ryan's decoy and Mr.Carl cars. The objects include crates and boxes.

Home retake

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 10 minutes. The player Harry has been tasked by Ryan to protect his Las Venturas quarry by killing a invading army soldiers and their commanders and must escape the area from an ensuing explosive sequence from ground level. This mission involves massive gunfights and racing through checkpoints around narrow obstacles.

- Difficulty: Hard. Most enemies have strong accuracies and carry m4s. Fortunately, the player has a sniper rifle for a range advantage and most enemies can be headshotted. Unfortunately, the first time limit part is the hardest part of the mission as the time limit is very small and the enemies there have a large amount of health without headshot options. Also, there's alot of platforming elements which tolerate less screw ups.

- Variety: Excellent. The characters include Harry, Ryan, the army soldiers and their commander. The weapons include desert eagle, m4, ak-47, sniper, rocket launcher. The vehicles include patriots, bunkers, cement trucks and sparrow helicopter. The objects include crates, cranes, ramps, metallic platforms, fences and boxes.

Jackin' Chan

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 10 minutes. The player Harry has been tasked by his friend Connor to save his brother Mac who has been kidnapped by the Yakuza members at the Esmerald Isle multi-story parking lot in Las Venturas with the sparrow helicopter. The mission mainly involves massive gunfights.

- Difficulty: Hard. The enemies carry have strong accuracies and mostly carry mp5 and ak-47. Fighting the enemies while the player is inside the sparrow helicopter is the hardest part of the mission as one enemy carry a rocket launcher which can destroy the helicopter in one hit. Kill the enemies from a distance to avoid getting hit by rockets. There's also a time limit near the end of the mission where must kill his last target very fast.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Harry, Ryan, Connor, Mac, the Yakuza members (Da Nang Boyz) and a Russian kidnapper. The weapons include mp5, rocket launcher, ak-47, micro-uzi and shotgun. The vehicles Yakuza cars, trucks and sparrow helicopter. The objects include crates, cranes and boxes.

Payback

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. The player Harry and Mac want to kill the remaining Russian gang members as a revenge of thier kidnapping fiasco at their base in Palomino Creek town, just south of Las Venturas. The mission mainly involves massive gunfights.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies are numerous, have a high health, carry mp5 and ak-47 and have average accuracies. There's a cutscene where some local allies fight against the enemies but die afterwards. Some of these soon-to-be-dead allies drop a minigun, so use it as an avantage for a quick massive killings.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Harry, Mac and the Russian mobsters. The weapons include mp5 and ak-47. The vehicles include speedboat, Harry and Russian gang cars. The objects include crates, cranes, security guard rails, metallic platforms, fences and boxes.

Overall, the content of these missions are impressive icon14.gif . However, these missions can be tedious to play for an average player because of the length, can be confusing (see Time Bomb mission) and have some stricter time limits. Otherwise, great job for the author and keep up the good work biggrin.gif .
