Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review Devil's drop point made by jetjatin. The mission is part of his Just Cause series.

The missions can be downloaded at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=476911&st=0 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good, the mission is very well written, with barely any text mistakes.

- Presentation: Very Good. The mission is very action-packed and contains a good storyline behind it. The many action moments quite surprise me, although not all of them worked perfectly.

Devil's drop point

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. The player is Rico Rodriguez, who just dropped into San Andreas in a government war and joins the Guerillas. He has to save his ally called Sheldon and escort him and his van to their safehouse.

- Difficulty: Easy - Medium. At first, the enemies have quite good weapons and a decent accuracy while your allies are mainly armed with pistols. You can better shoot them from a distance, since some of them are armed with sawn-off shotguns. The escort part is interesting, although it can be frustrating if the van takes a wrong route.

- Variety: Excellent.. The characters include Rico, Sheldon but also Guerilla and Mendoza government's goons who have both the army skins. The weapons include pistols, desert eagles, uzis, sawn-off shotguns, parachutes and SMGs. The vehicles include Patriot, Burrito, motorcycles and and Sheldon's van called MV. There is also a huge amount of objects.

Overall, the mission is very good icon14.gif I really like how many action this mission includes, although the van escorting scene can be somewhat frustrating. I had to replay the mission to finish it. But for the rest, the mission is well designed. The author should keep up the good work biggrin.gif

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review a mission made by crow41798. The mission's name is Quarry Escape.

The mission can be downloaded at: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=12909 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Excellent, as it is perfectly well written and comprehensive for everyone. Nothing more to add.

- Presentation: Excellent. Nice viewing and timing between different cutscenes. The overall design in this mission is very creative, as there's a lot of use of different objects and most of them are essential in order to pass the mission.

- Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 8 minutes. The player plays as quarry worker named Paul, and he notices that he's alone inside the quarry site, at southwest Las Venturas, as the place is about the blow up with dynamites. He must escape the quarry by using his motorbike and go through the convoyer belts and metallic platforms to the exit. Once there, the player learns that he has been betrayed and must get revenge.

- Difficulty: Normal. The mission on 3 different gameplays: Bike stunts, melee weapon fights and shootouts. The bike stunts can be tricky as some platforms and conveyor belts are very narrow. Fortunately, there's always some alternative ways on which the player can back up. The melee weapon fights is about 4 enemies against the player and the shootout part is against the enemies with long range weapons and good accuracies. Use distance and covering obstacles to kill them successfully without too much damage.

- Variety: Excellent. The characters include Paul and the other quarry workers, as construction workers actors and pedestrians. The weapons include shovel, knife, baseball bat, ak-47, sniper and country rifle. The vehicle includes the sanchez motorbike. The items and vehicles include armor, healthpack, explosions, dynamites, metallic platforms, convoyer belts and fences.

Overall, the mission is impressive icon14.gif . I'm really amazed of the amount of stuffs that the author puts in this mission at manages to make it complete without crashing. I also like the larger amount of gameplay that the player has to go through, which gives this mission a high replay value. Impressive job for the author and must keep his great work biggrin.gif .

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 2 missions made by Jimmy_Leppard. The missions are part of his Brian Thompson's Heist series.

The missions can be downloaded at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=476920

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good Decent dialog, I haven't seen any text mistakes.

- Presentation: Very Good. The story keeps the players waiting for more missions.

The Heist

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player is Brian Thompson, who just robbed a jeweler and stole a diamond worth 20 million dollars. His partner however wants to rip him off. Brian will soon be arrested by the cops.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission contains two gameplay parts, first you have 20 seconds to hide the diamond in an alley. Then, after you get out of prison, you have to pick up the diamond from the same spot but you encounter a problem.

- Variety: Decent. The characters include Brian, his partner, Diane as well as the police and FBI. The weapons include pistols. The mission contains many good cutscenes.

Diamonds In The Rough

- Length: Very good, as it can be done in 8 minutes. The player is Brian Thompson, who just robbed a jeweler and stole a diamond worth 20 million dollars. The Yakuza will kill him and his partner if they don't get the diamond back. Brian learns that his partner gets him in a lot of trouble.

- Difficulty: Easy. The fighting part isn't very challenging, just lock onto your enemies and fight them.

- Variety: Decent. The characters include Brian, his partner Garry, Wade as well as Garry's enemies and the FIB. The weapons include knifes. The cars include Brian's car, Garry's car.

Overall, the missions are good. The author created a very interesting story. Although next time, the missions need a little tuning by adding more variety and maybe some colored text. For the rest, the author should keep up the good work biggrin.gif

I'll review the other 2 later.

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 2 missions made by Nitesh aka AAAAAAA. They're part of his Hitman series.

The link to find and download the missions in this series can be found at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=478339 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good, as it is very well written with few typing and punctuation mistakes. Also nice text colorings.

- Presentation: Very Good. Nice timing and viewing accuracy between each cutscenes. The cutscenes are mainly used for interactions between different characters and to understand better the storyline. So, there's no crazy or jaw-dropping scenes to be expected.

Hitman intro

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays as Agent 002, aka Hitman, and he has been tasked by Agent 001 to kill a police inspector (Tenpenny) who is talking with a pimp in purple clothes (Jizzy) at Glen Park by sniping him afar from a vintage point.

- Difficulty: Normal. The mission is mainly focused about killing the enemy afar with a sniper while being unnoticed by the security guards as they have 100% accuracies which can murder the player in less than a second. Also the mission is heavily scripted so the player have to go to specific points and read the mission objectives very carefully.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Agent 002, the police inspector, the purple pimp guy and the security guards which look likes the naval captain actors. The weapons include m4, combat shotgun and sniper. the vehicle includes the LSPD cars.

Welcome to San Andreas

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays as Agent 002, aka Hitman, and he has been tasked by Agent 001 to kill a scientist and steal his valuable documents at the Los Santos airport. But by doing so he must steal a security guard's clothes so that he won't be noticed from the other guards.

- Difficulty: Hard. The mission is mainly focused of stealth-killing a security guard with a knife and steal his clothes while being unnoticed by the other security guards as they have 100% accuracies which can murder the player in less than a second. Also the mission is heavily scripted so the player have to go to specific points and read the mission objectives very carefully. Proceed with extreme caution before doing any actions.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Agent 002, the scientist with glasses and the blue-shirted security guards. The weapons include knife, police stick and m4. The vehicles include a motorbike, a passenger plane and a blue and red cars. The object includes the wooded ramp with crates.

Overall, the missions are good icon14.gif . This mission series, like his namesake, is mainly focused about stealh-killing, having a good sense of observation and some cognitive thinking. Also because of the heavily scripted objectives, the player is forced to go to specific points in order to pass the missions. So for the players who are into the brainless killing actions or like a one man army protagonist, unfortunately this series isn't for them. Nonetheless, the author did a good job for designing these missions and must keep the good work biggrin.gif .

Note from the reviewer: Storyline reviews take much more time and are harder to write, since I can't replay the missions. If I forgot about something, the author should feel free to mention it.

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review a storyline made by Rytuklis. The storyline is called Episodes From Vice City and can be found here.

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Decent. There are a few minor grammatical mistakes but the story is still very enjoyable. Nice use of text coloring in some mission.

- Presentation: Good. Many enemies wear the same skin and wield the same weapons. There are barely any objects, otherwise it would make crashes since the storyline is in GTA United.

Welcome to Vice City

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire. The missions mainl contains cutscenes. But I understand it because its the intro mission.

- Difficulty: Very easy. Gameplay-wise, you just need to enter the hotel and follow the security guard, but as I said above, I understand it because it's just the intro mission.

- Variety: Good. The actors include Nick, Vic, Hotel owner, security guard and cab driver. The cars include taxi. Very good camera angles on cutscenes.

First job

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire, so he starts working for Diaz. The mission length is decent.

- Difficulty: Easy. First off, we need to drive Vic to Diaz's estate. Then we have to go on our first job, to get protection money from Tooled Up. The enemies have decent health so the mission is easy to handle.

- Variety: Decent. The actors include Nick, Vic, Diaz, store owner and his goons. The weapons include baseball bats. The cars include Vic's car.

Pigeon Hunt

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire so he starts working for Diaz. The missions contains driving and shooting.

- Difficulty: Medium-hard. Wanted level is enabled on this mission. After we kill the cops, it can become hard since more cops surround the shop and have good aiming. My tip: Run!

- Variety:Decent. The actors include Nick, Diaz and cops. The cars include a pink car (Diaz's car?). The enemies are all police officers, who all look the same.

The Deal

- Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire. He goes on a drug deal with his new friend, Vic.

- Difficulty: Medium. The shootout parts can be a bit tricky, but they're not impossible. Just don't run out to the open and stay in cover.

- Variety:Decent. The actors include Nick, Vic and the drug dealer. The weapons include uzis and pistols. Unfortunately, all the enemies look the same.

Donut Festival

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire so he starts working for Diaz. We have to kill a cop that has been causing trouble.

- Difficulty: Easy. The author forgot to add the ''kill all enemies: on'' feature, so we only have to kill one cop. Afterwards we receive a 4 star wanted level but our destination is very close.

- Variety:Could be better.. The actors include Nick, Diaz and the cop. The cops who stand near our target use the same animation. The weapons include pistols.

Witness Protection

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire. We have to help Kent kill a target.

- Difficulty: Medium. We have to kill the target before he reaches his destination. My tip is to go in front of the car and shoot it.

- Variety:Decent. The actors include Nick, Ken and the targets. The cars include Ken's car and the target's car. This time, the enemies look quite different.

Keep your enemies close...

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. We step into the shoes of Nick Muerte, who came to Vice City to build an empire. I don't want to spoil too much on this mission.

- Difficulty: Medium. The enemies have decent health but are well armed.

- Variety:Could be better. The actors include Nick. The enemies use a couple of skins this time, although just 2 different skins. The weapons include M4, SMG.

There's also the outro mission, but it contains only cutscenes.

Overall, the missions are fun to play. The grammatical errors aren't a problem, but the author should improve his variety and detail in missions. The missions felt like they were kinda rushed. But still, the story is pretty interesting and the missions are enjoyable. The author should keep up the good work biggrin.gif

I was wondering if you could review the second part of my introduction mission (there will be 3-4 total parts to it):

http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=13074

I know the actors appearing/disappearing isn't smooth; I haven't found a way to prevent that yet ;~;.

The mission doesn't really give any information about the storyline yet; I'm saving that for the first mission after the introduction/prologue.

The part I really want reviewed though is the boss fight at the end, I tried to be creative as I could using the little space available in the house. Also it isn't a "shoot him 'till he's dead" boss; it requires a bit of strategy, mind you tounge.gif. It's REALLY hard if you try it normally.

If you're curious about the storyline and want to deal with watching a 3 minute cutscene introduction (not quite an introduction actually; more like a prologue with no information on what's happening yet) then you can check it out at http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=13032 but honestly I don't think it's well done so I'm probably going to remake it later on x3.

The introduction is set 10 years prior to the current time, when PvC first began their takeover.

Here's the story background:

Bane revolves around the Dystopian country of Nerath, which is currently under control by a criminalic and corrupt organization known as PvC (Protection via Containment). Under the guise of a peaceful, Utopian government, PvC wreaks havoc behind the scenes of watchful eyes; murdering innocents, purging threats and burdens, brainwashing, torturing, committing drastic acts of violence to acquire servants and/or agents; all contained within its heart of darkness that slowly grew over the ten years prior to PvC's ruling.

Not much is known about the deeper core within PvC. They say the farther in you go in their ranks, the more corrupt and reckless they become. Those who do enter their ranks are said to never return to live their normal lives...

...But all is not lost! Within the oppressing darkness lies a shimmering light of hope; a light that is determined to illuminate forever the corruption that grasps them. Those few who see PvC in its true image have rose up against their oppressors, willing to face all odds to bring back light into the world.

But there is more than meets the eye... there are unknown, enigmatic forces working behind the scenes. Rumors spread through the Rebels about a presence not of this world watching over them, guiding their every move, and writing history as its own...

...These are all rumors though. The supernatural is only a myth, of course...

...No One has proven otherwise...

And yes, it is a supernatural series o3o.

Thanks for reading <3

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 3 missions made by Nitesh aka AAAAAAA. They're part of his Hitman series.

Please click on the missions below in order to download them:

- One...two...three...

- Agent 001

- At last, a normal day

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good, as it is very well written with few typing and punctuation mistakes. Also nice text colorings.

- Presentation: Very Good. Nice timing and viewing accuracy between each cutscenes. The cutscenes are mainly used for interactions between different characters and to understand better the storyline. So, there's no crazy or jaw-dropping scenes to be expected.

One...two...three...

- Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 8 minutes. The player plays as Agent 002, and has been tasked by Agent 001, via his radio, to steal the scientist briefcase while at the same time, killing the target and his security guards by blowing up the Eastern Bay Chemicals factories, in south-east of San Fierro, with explosives.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies carry rifles with 100% accuracies, in which can murder the player when he's spooked. Fortunately most enemies are far apart to each other, which gives enough room to stealth-kill one enemy and taking his clothes unnoticed. There's also a 1 minute time limit which can be tedious for some players who don't know which way to go.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Agent 002, the white coat scientists and the blue-shirted security guards. The weapons include knife and m4. The vehicles include some scientist and security guards cars. The object includes explosions.

Agent 001

- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 10 minutes. The player Agent 002 has been tasked by Agent 001 to retrieve the document briefcases at the countryside North of Los Santos, Montgomery town and the Greenglass college compound in south-west Las Venturas.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies carry rifles and sub machine-guns with very good accuracies. Fortunately, there's not many of them to fight or kill against. The real challenge is to read carefully the mission objectives in order to get a clue of your directions, as they aren't shown as dot points on the radar at all.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Agent 002, the rival agents and the college students as normal pedestrians. The weapons include silenced pistol, mp5, micro-uzi, sawn-off shotgun, parachute and sniper. The vehicles include the Agent 001's objective car. The object includes briefcase.

At last, a normal day!

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player 002 decides to take a day off by taking his car and touring Los Santos when some unknown assassins out of nowhere want to kill him. He retreats into the countryside for safety, not far from Blueberry town.

- Difficulty: Easy. The enemies have good accuracies and carry rifles and sub-machine guns. Fortunately, they're quite apart to each other, not to mention that the player is inside his car, going through checkpoints at faster speeds. Drive to the destination carefully while at the same time, not stopping at places where the enemies are spawn.

- Variety: Decent. The characters include Agent 002 and the rival agents. The weapons include silenced pistol, mp5, micro-uzi, knife and sniper. The vehicles include the Agent 002's car. That's it.

Overall, the missions are good icon14.gif . As the mission series progresses, the player is forced to do some more critical thinking in order to get a clue of his directions. So for the players who are into the brainless killing actions or like a one man army protagonist, unfortunately this series isn't for them. Nonetheless, the author did a good job for designing these missions and must keep the good work biggrin.gif .

Thanks for the awesome review mati! I will use your tips. However, i avoided variety in missions because while browsing through skins-weapons my game likes to crash.. so.... smile.gif. Anyways, that was an AWESOME review

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by Maliksusanto. They're part of his American war series.

Please click on the link below in order to view the topic and find links to download them:

American war

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Good. There are some considerable number of grammar mistakes, especially in terms of punctuation, but they are easy to understand. Also nice text colorings.

- Presentation: Good. Although not too many of them, nice timing and viewing accuracy between each cutscenes. The cutscenes are mainly used for interactions between different characters and to understand better the storyline. So, there's no crazy or jaw-dropping scenes to be expected.

Training

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays Pvt. Price, and he is under training. He is told to kill some enemies and finally a bike test.

- Difficulty: Easy. All the player has to do is kill some enemies who have good accuracies. Then during the bike test, he has to go through some checkpoints.

- Variety: Good The characters include Pvt. Price, Cpt, Morris. The weapons include M16. Pickups include weapons, health and armour. Vehicles include Previon, Sanchez.

Mafia attack

- Length: Good, as it takes about 5 minutes to complete. The player has to kill some terrorists who have Cpt. Morris with them.

- Difficulty: Normal. Enemies have good accuracies and some of them are even in cars. But fortunately you have some allies with you. There are cars available for the player to run over the enemies.

- Variety: Good. Character include Cpt. Morris, Pvt. Price, General Patt. Weapons include M16, Uzi, AK-47. Objects include explosives. Vehicles include Walton. Patriot,

Mafia hideout

- Length: Good, as it can be done in about 6 minutes. The player has to kill some Mafia guys, follow a strange Mafia guy to their hideout, storm into the Mafia hideout and finally destroy the helicopter Vito is in.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies have good accuracies and powerful weapons. But the player's M16 kills them very quickly.

- Variety: Decent. Characters include Pvt.Price, some Mafia guys. Weapons include M16, Uzi, Combat Shotgun, Pistol, Silenced pistol AK-47. Vehicles include helicopter.

Vito end

- Length: Too Short, as it can be done in less than a minute. The player has to chase a car and kill Vito.

- Difficulty: Easy. The car has good health and the partner of Vito is also shooting.

- Variety: Decent. Characters include Pvt. Price, Vito and his partner. Vehicles include Infernus. Weapons include sub-machine gun, M16.

Overall the missions are good and fun to play icon14.gif . There is a lot of gameplay in terms of gunfights and chases. These give the missions a great replay value. The bad side of these missions was difficulty. Although the second mission was a bit difficult and challenging, the others were a bit easy, so my advice to the author is to increase the difficulty [maybe by adding more enemies]. Nonetheless, the author did a good job in the designing of the missions and must keep up the good work. biggrin.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

You guys have been doing a wonderful job so far.

I kindly request you to do me a favour.

This set of missions I've made in DYOM. I'm amazed by the types of missions in DYOM.

I'm a beginner in DYOM (not to GTA though!) and would be really glad to get my missions reviewed and helped to develop my skill.

Thanks in advance.
