Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by Nitesh aka AAAAAAA. They're part of his GTA San Andreas 2 storyline.

The storyline file can be downloaded at: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=12044

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good. They're generally very well written with very few mistakes. They really serve the purpose of explaining the mission objectives and the storyline, even though they aren't many texts overall.

- Presentation: Good. Nice timing and viewing shots between different cutscenes, even though they're actually few of them. The main character, allies and enemies fit very well into a gangster theme.

Discovery

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player plays as CJ, and he wants to steal a bag of money at the Los Santos airport from Grove Street with his red turismo car, but got intercepted by a ballas sniper.

- Difficulty: Easy. There's only one enemy to fight against, and it's the ballas sniper. Since the player doesn't have any weapon and that the enemy is a the top of the cargo boxes. The only way to kill him is to lure him at ground level and run over with the car.

- Variety: Decent. The characters include CJ and the Ballas. The weapon includes sniper. The vehicle includes the red-purple turismo. The item includes healthpacks.

The ballas...

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player CJ defends against the invading Ballas members near the Grove street base, including their Black buffalo car.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies have average accuracies. But they can be defeated by shooting them beyond their sights with an m4. The black buffalo car part is actually easy, due of the glitched route path. Watch out for the cop interference though.

- Variety: Good. The characters include CJ and the Ballas. The weapons include ak-47, mp4 and m4. The vehicles include the buffalo black cars. The items and objects include armor, healthpacks, crates and boxes.

The gang wars begin...

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player CJ wants to get rid of the Ballas around a residential area in Idlewood, near downtown, before they start invading Grove Street again.

- Difficulty: hard. The enemies have average accuracies. But since the gunfight happens inside a residential area with lots of houses and balconies, they can attack the player from many different sides once they got spooked by gunshots. Not to mention the constant cop interference with makes the whole mission tedious. Kill them quick, while at the same time, run away to avoid getting busted.

- Variety: Good. The characters include CJ and the Ballas. The weapons include m4 and pistol. The vehicle include the black motorcar. And the items include armor and healthpacks.

Glen Park

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player CJ wants to get rid of the Ballas and the LSPD officers who corporate with them around Glen Park.

- Difficulty: Normal. The enemies have average accuracies and carry some lethal weapons such as grenades and flamethrowers. Despite their numbers, the best way to kill them all is to jack a car around Glen Park and run them over. Fortunately, there isn't any cop interferences (wanted level) in this mission.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include CJ, the ballas and the LSPD officers. The weapons include pistol, grenade, flame thrower, ak-47, mp5, tec-9, pistol, sawn-off shotgun and m4. No scripted vehicles can be found in this mission. The items includes armor and healthpack.

Overall the missions are good icon14.gif , as they're pretty much the same format and length as the original GTA SA missions. The only thing that needs more work would be having a little bit more cutscenes for the storyline. Otherwise, good job for the author and keep up the good work biggrin.gif .

Thanks for the review. Those missions were my first ones. I will surely improve my missions by following those tips. I will wait for the reviews of my other missions from GTA SA 2

Also GTA SA 2 CHAPTER 3 is ready. Please also review that one. It is a mission pack. Not a DSL folder. Thanks. biggrin.gif

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by wK commander. The first 2 are part of his shantorians last stand series, while the last 2 are part of his Life in San Fierro series.

- Shantorians last stand(prt.1)

- Shantorians last stand(prt.2)

- Life in San Fierro(prt.4)

- Life in San Fierro(prt.5)

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Very Good. They're generally very well written, with very few mistakes. For some reason, we don't know the name of the main character of the Shantorian last stand series. Nice text colorings too.

- Presentation: Very Good. Nice timing and viewing shots between different cutscenes. Nice use of animations in order to put more life into the storyline of the missions.

shantorians last stand PRT.1

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays as an unnamed army soldier, and he has been tasked by his boss to find the hacker who blew up their Patriot cars by using the computer inside the Los Santos cia building (Las Venturas Photocopy interior) and find his IP address. He found the whereabouts of the hacker and goes after him.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission generally consists of moving from point A to point B and watch the cutscenes in order to understand the storyline. So there's no gunfights or lethal actions to do whatsoever. The only way he can die is to go into the fires of the explosions or doing careless traffic accidents.

- Variety: Good. The characters include the army soldier protagonist, his LSPD officer boss, the CIA receptionist girl, an old pedestrian who accompany the protagonist into a room of computers and the hacker as a street black guy. The weapon includes an mp5. The vehicle includes the patriot cars. The objects includes the explosions.

shantorians last stand PRT.2

- Length: Very Short, as it can be done in 2 minutes. The player as an army soldier pursues the hacker who escaped from his crack house in Idlewood with his car by heading into a tall building rooftop in downtown Los Santos.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission generally consists of moving from point A to point B and watch the cutscenes in order to understand the storyline. So there's no gunfights or lethal actions to do whatsoever. The only way he can die is to jump off the tall building or doing careless traffic accidents.

- Variety: Decent. The characters include the army soldier protagonist and the hacker as a street black guy. The weapon includes the mp5. The vehicle includes the hacker's car. That's about it.

Life in San Fierro(prt.4)

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player plays as CJ, and he got informed by his Burger Shot manager Shelly that he got fired by forgetting to lock up everything during his closing shift. Unable to withstand her, he killed her out cold. Noticed that he just committed a murder, he escapes his garage to take refuge to his cousin Sweet's house.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission generally consists of moving from point A to point B and watch the cutscenes in order to understand the storyline. So there's no gunfights or lethal actions to do whatsoever. The only way he can fail the mission is to get busted by the cops or doing careless traffic accidents.

- Variety: Good. The characters include CJ, Shelly, Sweet and the pimp who threat CJ's life while being unnoticed. The weapon includes the mp5. The vehicles include CJ, Sweet and the pimp cars.

Life in San Fierro(prt.5)

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player CJ tells his cousin Sweet about the murder to his manager Shelly. By saying her name, Sweet discovered that CJ killed her girlfriend and will kill him for revenge with his shotgun upstairs inside his house.

- Difficulty: Easy. While the main enemy carries a shotgun and have good accuracies, he can't aim directly to the player if the latter stands on the stairs of the house. Use this shooting flaw as an advantage in order to defeat the enemy and his enormous health.

- Variety: Good. The characters include CJ, Sweet, the officers and the pimp. The weapons include the pistol, shotgun and mp5. The vehicles include the police and the pimp cars. The items includes healthpacks and armor.

Overall, the missions are good and simple icon14.gif . The only thing I would suggest to the author is to make missions with a longer length, as it seems that some missions listed above (shantorians last stand) can be putted together as one complete mission. Otherwise, good job for the author and keep up the good work biggrin.gif .

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by Jimmy_Leppard. These missions are part of his The story of Leon Ridge series.

The missions can be downloaded at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=473647

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Excellent, there's a lot of dialogues in these missions, and they're pretty much perfectly well written. The author really put a lot of depth into this storyline.

- Presentation: Excellent. Nice timing and viewing accuracy between different cutscenes. Along with the writings, the cutscenes also put more depth into the storyline. There's also a lot of actors that are scripted, which brings more life to an already impressive storyline.

Camping alert

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player plays as Leon, and he has been tasked with his friends to look for the Rifas in Battery point, San Fierro with the blue Sultan car. While they are heading there, Lucho and his Rifa goons blew up Bob's garage in doherty.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission generally consists of moving from point A to point B and watch the cutscenes in order to understand the storyline. So there's no gunfights or lethal actions to do whatsoever. The only way he can fail the mission is to get busted by the cops, doing careless traffic accidents or murdering his own allies.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Leon, Renny (Kent Paul), Bob, Max, Lucho (T-Bone) and his Rifa goons. No weapons can be found in this mission, The vehicles include Bob and Lucho cars. The object includes the explosions.

Cradle of fire

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player Leon and his friends are getting some explosive equipements in Bob's friend house. After that, they went into Lucho's clubhouse at Battery point and set explosives there to start a major gunfight against Lucho and his Rifas goons.

- Difficulty: Normal. There's many enemies that are carrying pistols and have average accuracies. The enemies at the exterior of the clubhouse can be defeated by running them over with the blue sultan car, just be careful not to run over your allies. The enemies inside the club can be defeated by gunning them down, while at the same time, staying closer to your allies.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Leon, Renny (Kent Paul), Bob, Max, Lucho (T-Bone) and his Rifa goons. The weapons include mp5, micro-uzi, desert eagle and pistol. The vehicles include Bob's car and the scripted cars near the clubhouse. The object includes explosions.

Judgement

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player Leon and Renny have been caught by the cops after the destruction of Lucho's clubhouse and are both convicted into the State prison (Area 69) for mass murder while Box and Max managed to escape the cops. In prison, Leon and Renny brawl fight against some inmates who threatened their lifes.

- Difficulty: Easy. The main action consists of a 2 vs. 3 brawl fight. Try to focus on knocking down 1 enemy at a time in order to defeat the enemies without too much trouble.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Leon, Renny (Kent Paul), Bob, Max the police officers from different cities and towns, and a large amount of inmates. The weapons include the pistol and mp5. The vehicles include the police cars, barracks and patriots.

Boxed in

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes, Leon and Renny meets an immate friend named Derek and together, they're discussing about a plan to escape the SA state prison (Area 69) by looking to the Prison Industry at the adjacent side of the main prison yard. In the meantime, Bob and Max take refuge to their friend Tony in Las Venturas.

- Difficulty: Easy. The mission generally consists of moving from point A to point B and watch the cutscenes in order to understand the storyline. So there's no gunfights or lethal actions to do whatsoever. The only way he can fail the mission is to get busted by the cops, beaten by inmates or knocking down your allies.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Leon, Renny (Kent Paul), Bob, Max, Derek, Tony the police officers at state prison and a large amount of inmates. No weapons can be found in this mission. The vehicles include the patriot and barracks.

Overall, the missions are very good icon14.gif . Like his last project (The Forgotten), the author put a lot effort of making a deeper storyline with a large cast of characters. I liked the intense gunfights at Cradle of fire mission, as it was really fun to play around. Otherwise, great job for designing the missions and I hope the author will keep his great work biggrin.gif .

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review a mission made by Scream... . The mission name is Matt and Rodger.

The link of the mission can be found at: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=12291 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Good. There's a few amount of mistakes that can found in this mission, but it doesn't detract the whole reading experience. The comma (,) also tend to stick together between different words. Nice text colorings by the way.

- Presentation: Good. Nice timing and viewing accuracy between different cutscenes. There's also a good amount of animations between different actors. However because of the interior glitch where the actors falls off, which happens occasionally, the overall presentation feels less polished.

- Length: Very Short, as it can be done in 2 minutes. The player plays as Rodger, who meet to his brother Matt after 1 year of absense in Matt's house. After having watching horror movies, Matt decides to take a smoke outside near his house, before he got hit by a stranger with a baseball bat. While inside the house, Rodger is worried that Matt didn't come soon as expected.

- Difficulty: Very easy. There's no gameplay at all in this mission. The player only have to watch or skip the cutscenes and he will get the MISSION PASSED! message.

- Variety: Could be done better. The characters include Matt, Rodger and a stranger. The weapon includes a baseball bat. That's it.

Overall, despite having a good amount of cutscenes and dialogues, the whole mission feels rushed. There's no gameplay at all. It would be a little bit better if the player can take control of his character, enabling at least his freedom. Anyways, this is a decent mission by the author (which is banned, but could read this as a guest), but it could be done better.

Personally, it doesn't really matter if he's banned or not, he could still see the post while being as a guest. Besides, I already done a review of an inactive DYOM user for years at the first page of the topic.

Yeah, but how do you know he check the site?

Maybe he doesn't do that at all and then you have reviewed a mission and put alot of work into a mission they dont even watch....

If I were you, I would only review missions of active members, not that it is any of my business ofcourse.....

Hello again,

Today, I'm going to review 2 missions made by SatournFan. These missions are part of his Taking Out from the Trash storyline.

The storyline can be downloaded at: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=11842 .

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Decent. There's an occasional amount of typing and structural mistakes that can found in this mission, but it doesn't detract the whole reading experience. The punctuations also tend to stick together between different words. Nice text colorings by the way.

- Presentation: Good. Nice timing and viewing accuracy between different cutscenes. Nice animations for the characters when they're interacting. For some reasons, the enemies tend to appear out of thin air during the gameplay.

Family of rats

- Length: Good as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player plays as protagonist named Luca, and has been tasked by Hans to assist him fighting against the Tantanellos (Russian) gang members inside the motel parking lot in Redsands west in Las Venturas from Hans house in Last dime motel.

- Difficulty: Very Hard. The enemies have 100% accuracies and they're large in numbers. To make things more tedious, the cops will also interfere you whenever you start shooting and the player has an ally which he must protect in order to pass the mission. In short, this is a mission that needs more persistence by killing the enemies one-by-one while, at the same time, staying away from the cops.

- Variety: Good. The characters include Luca, Hans and the Tantanellos gang members. The weapons include ak-47, m4, micro-uzi and mp5. The vehicles include Hans car and the Tantanellos limousine cars.

Enemy meeting

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player Luca has been tasked by Jared to assist him fighting against the Tantanellos (Russian) gang members inside the an industry parking lot in Blackfield in Las Venturas from Jared's house in Whitewood estates.

The characters include Luca, Jared and the Tantanellos gang members. The weapons include ak-47, m4, micro-uzi and mp5. The vehicles include Jared car.

Overall, the missions are good icon14.gif . The main issue would be the difficulty, as explained at the difficulty section of the 2 missions. It would be better if the difficulty was toned down, like lower accuracies and no cop interferences, in order to make the whole gunfight more enjoyable to play for the average players. Otherwise, good job for the missions and keep up the good work biggrin.gif .

Ok look, I understand we don't share the same mentality about how the reviews should be done, but let's just get over this already without starting a long debate. What is done is done, it's time to move on.

Ok look, I understand we don't share the same mentality about how the reviews should be done, but let's just get over this already without starting a long debate. What is done is done, it's time to move on.

Geez, sorry, I was only trying to help you, with giving you a little advise...... confused.gif

Scream was banned, why do you review his mission?

Personally, it doesn't really matter if he's banned or not, he could still see the post while being as a guest. Besides, I already done a review of an inactive DYOM user for years at the first page of the topic.

Yeah, but how do you know he check the site?

Hello everyone,

Today, I'm going to review 4 missions made by Maliksusanto. The missions are part of his Dead rising series.

The missions can be downloaded at the following link: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=474550.

Now, it's time for the review,

- Writing: Good. While there isn't too many dialogues or long mission instructions. They're a noticeable amount of typing mistakes. Otherwise, good text colorings in order to make the readings a little bit easier.

- Presentation: Very Good. Nice viewing angle between different cutscenes. Since this series has a zombie apocalypse theme on it, we could expect a lot of destructive stuffs going around. The author did a very good job for this by adding a lot of different actors, objects and vehicles.

Intro

- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays as Chuck, and he just came recently to Las Venturas and live in an apartment in Whitewood estates. He decides to go meet his daughter and her uncle in San Diego by going to the Las Venturas airport. Inside at the airport, an explosion takes place and the room is filled with zombies and as with other survivors, he must survive the infection.

- Difficulty: Normal. There's a lot of zombies and they only carry melee weapons. As the player has a pistol, it is recommended to keep distance between the enemies and shooting them, preferably into their heads as they're headshot-able. Just be careful not to get stuck as the corridors can be very narrow.

- Variety: Very Good. The characters include Chuck, the zombies and the survivors as various citizens, gang and law force members. The weapons include pistol micro-uzi, police stick, chaisaw, pool cue, shovel, katana and baseball bat. The vehicle includes Chuck's car. The items include explosions, crates and fences.

Airport battle

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 2 minutes. The player Chuck fights against zombies at the corridors of the Las Venturas airport, while at the same time meets 2 survivors: Usher the rapper who wants to stay at the airport and Sullivan who follows Chuck in order to escape the infected area.

The characters include Chuck, Usher, Sullivan and the zombies as various citizens or gang members. The weapons include pistol, country rifle, police stick, chaisaw, pool cue, shovel, katana and baseball bat. The vehicle includes Sullivan's truck. The items include explosions, crates and fences.

Find a plane

- Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player Chuck and Sullivan are catching up a plane in order to escape Las Venturas. While attempting to catch the plane, they have to fight against hordes of zombies.

- Difficulty: Hard. The flying plane part is tedious as there isn't enough distance to lift off the plane and get the 1st ring objective on 1st attempt, so the player has to lift off the plane and turn around the airport slowly many times in order to successfully going through the ring objectives which are very close together. As for the zombies, just keep distance on them and be careful as some of them carry molotov cocktails and mp5.

- Variety: Excellent. The characters include Chuck, Sullivan and the zombies as various citizens, gang or law force members. The weapons include pistol, country rifle, police stick, chaisaw, pool cue, shovel, katana, mp5, molotov cocktails and baseball bat. The vehicles include many different cars and trucks, along with the passenger plane. The items include crates, doors, metallic platforms and fences.

Crash

- Length: Short, as it can be done in 3 minutes. The player Chuck and Sullivan, following their failed attempt to escape Las Venturas via the plane, are escaping Blackfield, Las Venturas and heads up into the army base in the desert. While they're doing it, they must fight against a horde of zombies and are also assisted by some local survivors.

- Difficulty: Easy. There's a lot of zombies and they only carry melee weapons. As the player has a pistol, it is recommended to keep distance between the enemies and shooting them, preferably into their heads as they're headshot-able. As the action takes place in a wide open area, it is easier to get away from the enemy attacks.

- Variety: Excellent. The characters include Chuck, Sullivan, the zombies and local survivors as various citizens, gang or law force members. The weapons include pistol, country rifle, police stick, chaisaw, pool cue, shovel, katana, mp5, molotov cocktails, ak-47 and baseball bat. The vehicles include many different cars and trucks. The items include crates, metallic platforms and fences.

Overall the missions are good and fun to play icon14.gif . The only drawback is the "Find a plane" mission where the ring objectives should be a little bit bigger and further away from the plane in order to make to keep distance between them and make the lift-off more doable for the average players. Otherwise, great job for designing these missions and keep up the great work biggrin.gif .
