Difficulty Setting In GTAV

We all know that from GTA 3 to GTA 4 there aren't any difficulty setting and the game it's not that hard but it depends on the mission. Just wanna add some difficulty setting to be more challanging. Most of the R* games aren't any difficult setting except from manhunt it was hard even in normal mode. That's what I want in GTAV to be more challanging for the player. The only hard mission I know in GTA serries was the Last level in GTA 3 and in SA the mission where u use a RC plane to destroy the delivery van. That's all I remember.

I think having adaptive difficulty would be fine. If you've gotten through the majority of the game without being arrested, the cops will become much more aggressive, while if you're failing a mission constantly, the game begins to give you some breathing room. Anything else might interrupt the flow of the gameplay.

I wouldn't like It If NeXt had difficulty setting. It just doesn't suit GTA lol

IV era games were too easy.

I went and played VC after being used to IV era...

I GOT SMOKED!.... for a while until I stopped being a little pussy that's used to the easy IV era.

It was like you almost couldn't fail in IV vanilla.(a few missions were hard, but cmon)

Difficulty setting? In my opinion I think that's stupid. GTA Missions are all set at a different level you can't set them. Even if there was a difficulty setting in V, then what does that mean. More enemies in the mission? Better Accuracies for the enemies? Like what the hell is that? Keep GTA Missions at their level don't make it harder it just ruins the way you play. Keep GTA at it's normal difficulty because that's what makes part of Grand Theft Auto Fun and exciting.

I want to say make a difficulty setting but I don't know how that could even be implemented. For those of you who want an ultra hard game, keep in mind that everyone isn't a gaming wizard like you.

Unlike the others I think it's a great idea.

GTA IV was very casual/beginner/mainstream friendly with the Gameplay. I would love a difficulty settings, Hardcore and Casual.

They could also add a realism setting like in Fallout New Vegas with its Hardcore Mode. When playing the game in this mode, your ammunition weights (unlike Fallout3), you can die of dehydration, you get week if you don't sleep, and health packs don't heal instantly but over time.

I would love something like that in GTA, even though it's not a RPG.

GTA does have a degree of adaptive difficulty. If you keep failing a mission, eventually that mission gets somewhat easier.

And if you want to play IV in "Hard mode" on the consoles at least, just turn off auto-aim. That's basically all RDR does. biggrin.gif

I wouldnt something like this

Normal Mode- the difficulty the game is automatically set to, the same difficulty as GTA IV was.

Hardcore Mode- No autoaim, enemies bullets do more damage, enemies have more health

what I'm saying is I want GTAV to be more challanging. Yes and it is still add some realism if the game is hard especially when ur in a shootout with enemy. GTA games wans't that hard enough for players like me. Perhaps majority of the gamers here can't handle a hard mode.

What the hell is up with all these foreigners who can't speak English making posts recently?

A difficulty setting is a bad idea for these reasons:

1: It's been traditional for GTA to not have difficulty settings

2: Different parts in the game greatly differ in difficulty, so you could have it set high for a certain part because it's normally too easy then all of a sudden be launched into a normally difficult setting and die instantly.

3: It takes the fun and challenge out of games when you can just knock the difficulty down to easily complete a part - and the option would be too tempting for certain frustrating scenarios.

4: There has secretly been a difficulty reduction setting in all GTA games this entire time, they're called cheats. And if you care about achievements you have to play the game at the set difficulty, you're also an idiot.

5. There is already a difficulty setting option in GTA: Normal - auto aim on, Hard - auto aim off. You want to make it more difficult play the game with no body armor and limit yourself to using sh*tty weapons.

While I must admit GTA IV was easy, I want the next GTA to have adaptive diffultculty.

For example, on your first playthrough, it will be a walk in the park.

On second, the difficulty will increase.

It wouldn't fit in with GTA IMO. I like how GTA missions play out. You might have to do a really intense shootout, and for the next mission you may have to do a simple errand. I like the level of un-certainly.

Keep it the way it is. If you want it to be more challenging then simply don't use any aids the game offers. GTA IV was alot harder without auto aim, armor, cover etc.

I think you miss understod somting...

Almost all of your points are auguring why not to have a "easy" setting, and that's not what we want.

I hate this please stop saying this, I know it's not just you. Playing the game without Auto aim doesn't make the difficult just crappy. The aiming mechanics of GTA are really really bad, can't explain it but they feel stiff and clunky. and it's not because it's in 3rd person, games Like Uncharted handes aming great, Rockstar just don't, and it's the same with RDR, the aiming is sooooo bad!

there's more to making a game difficult then just removing AA, checkpoints and give the enemy more health.

Omnia sunt Communia

I prefer the progressive difficulty levels that already exist in Grand Theft Auto. If you keep attempting to complete the same mission (without dying and reloading) then the game will start to become easier. The script reads how good you are and changes the game according to how well/bad you're doing. I think this is much better way of doing things, otherwise you get into the whole "difficulty level" ego thing (e.g. "you only completed it on easy? lol I completed it on hardcore").

How about we pc gamers? We generally don't have an option to make the game harder unless we limit ourselves. Since having difficulty setting doesn't suit GTA, the shootouts and car chases should be more unpredictable and harder IMO. Scripted car chases aren't bad, but they kill the randomness and sandbox game style.

+1, exactly what i was going to say

this would give the game more replay too, you could play in normal mode and then see how you do in hardcore mode

In general, I'm not in favor of difficulty levels. I view them as something like two versions of a film: a 'regular' one, and another where everything is meticulously explained to the viewer. Having said that, I would really like to have a 'hard' setting in GTA V.

I've found all the 3D GTAs quite easy for the most part, but that's not the main issue. I don't necessarily even want a really difficult game. What I want, though, is to feel some sort of fear when I'm playing. When I go to the toughest part of the town, with little more than a knife with me, I want to feel uneasy. When I shoot down a pedestrian just for the fûck of it, I want to feel like I'm in serious trouble.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy GTA games the way they are, but I'd like to sometimes have a more realistic experience.

This. In GTA 4 my balls are to big for my own good. For a few hours it's fun but after a while I start to long for some consciences of my actions. That it's a bad idea to walk around Bohan at night because after 3 bullets I'm dead. Diffuculty settings that can make the game harder would be highly welcome. Because all they would do is add realism.

Auto-aim makes it easier to shoot at enemies, but it does not increase/decrease the difficulty of the game in any way. There are plenty of games with lockon/autoaim that will still kick your ass if you screw up.

You shouldn't have to cripple the controls to get more challenge out of the game. Otherwise, why not rip out the analog sticks entirely? That'd be pretty challenging.

The manual aim of GTA IV on consoles is pretty jacked up. Using it wouldn't increase the difficulty of the game, it would just make it annoying.

The topic here is the difficulty of the GTA games. It was stated in previous posts that simply not using the auto-aim feature would increase the difficulty. Which it doesn't. I simply posted my argument. Now, can YOU please discuss the topic instead of just attempting to start fights?

Anyway, I stand by my earlier suggestion of an adaptive difficulty setting, which GTA IV seems to already have to some extent, but the game does still feel very easy.

You should really try modifying the weapons.dat file. To make the game more 'realistic' I have modified it so that all the guns are much more powerful, and you take more damage yourself, and I have decreased the amouth of ammo you can carry, e.g. you could carry like 300 rounds to the M4 Carbine, but now I have 30 round clip + another 30 rounds, and after Niko has shot the 60 rounds he throws the gun away.

About the difficulty setting. I really wish that the next GTA would be much more challenging and harder to complete the missions. I liked it in previous GTA games when completing a mission and had like 3% of your health left, and you just had to fight to survive and pray that your not going to get killed, or you'll have to start all over..

This has happened to me many times in GTA IV. Talk about snatching life from the jaws of death.

Infact I was playing TBOGT earlier, and I only had about 2% health. I was hoping, and praying to make it to the end of the mission.
