managed to reconstruct beta peds

Ok so after today merrily browsing though beta files I found some old peds, looking into it onepiece also found these a while back but because of corrupt textures we just had blank boring old white models, well being the nostalgic little devil I am I have figured out how to restore the textures, yes beta peds people, beta peds!!

Question about this

Did you found a way to restore those textures and this is original beta texture, or are you being the nostalgic little devil and you made those textures your self and asigned to the model ? (hope not)

Anyhow, this sh*t looks great, i love it.

I have restored the textures enough to allow me to use generic parts from other gta3 characters to make up what the original peds looked like

 

However I have found the face used for the busker 3 and fixed the jeans

Group shot, 2 are done 1, which turns out to be a Mexican immigrant with a poncho is half done and the other mexican isn't started yet, and IMO it looks like he is holding a slice of Pizza??

How would 'busker3' be put into the game? It clearly shows that he needs to be sitting on the ground (and possibly actually playing drums), but creating new animations for GTA III is impossible at the time being. So you would have to do one of the following:

 

- Move his body parts in the right position so he can just be walking.

 

- Turn him into a dummy model so he's loaded up with the map. Problem is, you couldn't kill him or provoke any behavior beyond just sitting still.

 

BTW, good work, I've been waiting for something like this to happen for a long time. smile.gif

 

Just a quick question, though: How do you open PS2 models in all their entirety? I've been wondering how, since on GTA VC's PS2 disc, there's quite a few very interesting beta models.

well vc's ps2 dffs have bothered me for a while too cant open em, id love to enable vc's nailgun, and on topic gm guna see if anx beta anims, ie sitting busker and reenable them

Oh BTW, I think another member named Ghost Bear found a way to actually fix the original textures. I would link you to the topic where he found them, but the pictures are down. Although, I distinctly remember 'busker3' wearing a black shirt.

 

Also, 'g' uses the same textures as both the South Side Hoodz members (I forgot what their files are called, but I bet you know).

Okay, but Ghost Bear doesn't come on here anymore, and EVERY picture is down, so this is useless:

Also, buskers are street musicians, so that 'slice of pizza' is probably actually a pan flute.

Bumping this because I'm still interested in un-corrupting the txd's, I've tried everything I can think of, but the fact ghost bear managed to makes me think I'm missing something, so in the hopes that someone could shed some light on it.....

 

Oh and on a semi-related note in pedstats.dat I found a left over group called "buskers"

 

STAT_BUSKER          17.0  7.5    50  20  40  90  1.0  1.0  17

I'm 99% certain that it's related.

Nice work, dude. He definitely strikes me as a street musician. But it would have been funny if he was a contact who appeared in all sorts of places in GTA III.

Interesting, also on another not I read a little while ago on another forum someone said using gameshark or something similar they manage to play as the bongo busker, anyone know the code?

It is possible to make them but I dont know how to, I dont know if it is possible to convert them.

Well, someone converted a working model of Novy from the PS2 disc for a beta mod, so I don't see why not. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

On another note, Ghost Bear still uses the same e-mail address. I'm going to ask him for his reconstructed textures.

 

Alright, I got back to him. He gave me the trick to fixing the textures, and he even gave me a sample!:

 

 

Hello. I just checked it and looks like only 1 converted texture left. The trick was to define different offset for texture's palette because these textures use some very old format and no of texture viewers\converters can open it properly. Open up texture file with hex editor and region which looks like "00 xx xx xx 00 xx xx xx" and so on which is palette. (Don't remember exactly, maybe it was FF xx xx xx) and use start of this region as palette offset in texture viewer\converter.

 

But then he found the rest, and gave me this package:
