Otter 7,900 Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) I'm laughing with you, Tet, but you can't blame him, really. We're talking about a country where the major networks will bleep out words like "penis" or "jesus", in the face of huge fines and criminal charges. ...maybe he's confusing HBO with another pussy network like TBS? [SM]CJZera 1 Posted November 7, 2010 They began airing it here in Uruguay last week... Tip for everyone, don't play Fallout New Vegas while watching it, I ended up having a f*ed up dream about zombies in the desert... Totally boring D: Anyways, I can't believe I've never heard of that comic, I got to get my hands on it... loving comics and whatnot... First chapter was nice though... tubbs51 106 Posted November 7, 2010 Well i just never expected it to be as graphic as it was... what with the FCC and everything... I figured it would be dull because of the lack of graphic violence but i was wrong to assume so before watching it... but its a great show none the less. Menaced 42 Posted November 7, 2010 Watching the first episode on FX right now. So far, so good. The make-up amazes me, "Walkers" have to be the best looking zombies I've ever seen.
Tyler 5,766 Posted November 8, 2010 Wow, that was a damn good episode as well. The opening scene was a bit hard to swallow, admittedly. But the introduction for that racist guy was tense. When they ended up leaving him in the final scene I sort of felt anguished like the black guy. Episode three looks like some decisions are going to come back to haunt some people. Don Garcia 82 Posted November 8, 2010 Ah man, that was f*cking great. Loved every minute of the episode. "We need more guts." Oh, and nothing like some softcore porn to start the episode. Hit it from the back.
Tetsuo2501 176 Posted November 8, 2010 Oh, and nothing like some softcore porn to start the episode. Hit it from the back. The racist was actor Michael Rooker. As for the beginning of the episode: Lori gets pregnant and has Shane's kid if you haven't read the books at all, I really wouldn't mouse over that black bar. Don Garcia 82 Posted November 8, 2010 if you haven't read the books at all, I really wouldn't mouse over that black bar. Too late, DAMN YOU! Ya, my fault. Whatever, that should be interesting to see. I know the actor, and I f*cking knew he would play a dirtbag. Dude is straight typecasted. Why couldn't the black guy just hand him the hacksaw? Made me wanna bitch-slap him, seeing as they were making it look like he genuinely wanted to save the guy.
Otter 7,900 Posted November 8, 2010 Eh, he was panicking. I think he's a wee bit useless. Heh. If I was Rick, I woulda put a bullet in the redneck's head. Glad he didn't though, as according to the preview his brother is hanging out with the rest of the survivors. Great episode... the amount of work that goes into this show blows my mind. Tetsuo2501 176 Posted November 8, 2010 it's been a long while since i read this part of the comics (they came out around 2003-2004) i don't remember if in the book they actually save the guy, if that scenario is even in the comic but i remember for sure that they go back into the city but i dont remember what exactly for though. Tyler 5,766 Posted November 8, 2010 Your trickery will not spoil me further Tetsuo! But seriously, that preview for the next episode looks like some big things are going to happen.

Edit: I just went and dug out issues 1-10 and they dont go back into the city in the comic. We'll see how they plan to work this scenario in with the original story, if they start making huge changes i'm going to lose interest real fast. it's not a huge change per say, but it affects the flow of progression at least, maybe they'll use it to flesh out some of the characters who die off when they get attacked at camp after everyone meets up who knows, guess we'll have to see next week. Pico 85 Posted November 8, 2010 Holy sh*t, I come here to post about this show and here it is at the top of the page I've just got to say, this show is f*cking awesome. I just finished episode one and I'm probably going to sacrifice more than an hour of sleep to watch the 2nd episode. I love how they've started it off, and within the first hour they've opened up tons of excellent future plot points. I can't wait to see how it all goes. DareYokel 6,028 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) 2nd episode was a blast. It's awesome how realistic is the fear of those who survived and how dominant is their surviving instinct above all else. They're not heroes, they're all scared sh*tless. That's what I love the most. Edited November 8, 2010 by GTAvanja
Moonshield 9,919 Posted November 8, 2010 Amazing episode. I was on the edge of my seat when they were walking towards the construction site. Then BAM, axe to the head. Also, I met Tony Moore yesterday at MidOhio Con, it was sweet.
Knife 134 Posted November 8, 2010 It was great again, it feels like a feature film rather than a TV series. I wasn't completely on board with the whole 'pretend to be a zombie' thing though.
Ziggy455 702 Posted November 9, 2010 I've read the graphic Novel of this Sooo many times. The first episode was f*cking brilliant. Finnally a decent f*cking Book to TV series!
Otter 7,900 Posted November 10, 2010 ....So stoked, I bought the collected hardcover copy (volume 1) on the way home from work yesterday. I know it's going to spoil me a little bit, but who the eff cares.

Tetsuo2501 176 Posted November 15, 2010 I'm losing interest real fast. The past episode and a half none of the material has been in the books at all. Even small things that add a lot of detail to the characters, like Carl wearing Ricks police/cowboy hat through out isn't used in the tv series. I guess it's neat that they added having to go back to the city to get the guns for spacing, but they could have just as easy gone with what happens in the book instead. sigh. Gezim 3 Posted November 15, 2010 Pretty decent episode 3, not as good as the other 2 though. I was happy when that guy beat the sh*t out of that fatass wife beater.
Tyler 5,766 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) Tetsuo, you want to see a live-action remake of the book, instead of a fresh new stricken story to you? I don't get your reasoning man, I mean, it's based off of The Walking Dead books from what I hear, Not remade from them. The episode was a bit slower in terms of zombie killing, but that last episode really showcased the dysfunctionally of most of the families in the group pretty well. The thing I was sort of pissed about was at the end of the episode when they found that dude's hand and a saw on the roof. I mean, it's cliché as hell, and I doubt the guy is going to live unless he Cauterised the wound, which is hard to believe considering there was no molten hot metal around. The next episode looks like the real action will be present, and the scene they show on AMC.com seems like more knowledge will be given about some of the characters backgrounds. Don Garcia 82 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) I'll go against the growing negativity here, and say that episode was f*cking great. I got choked up by the reunion. In a regular length season, we wouldn't have seen that until episode 8, so that was great. I love how the gore has been handled so far. Nice effects. And I love the character drama. Makes the lack of zombie killing a real non-problem for me. I'm confused though. If Merl used the hacksaw to cut his hand off, why didn't he use it to cut the handcuff off the pipe? And second question, are they referring to the zombies as "geeks?" Oh yeah, case you fellas didn't know, the show got picked up for a 13-episode second season. Nice. Tyler 5,766 Posted November 15, 2010 They said there was three episodes left in the season at the end of the show, though. Are they splitting the season in half like Burn Notice? You can't cut a steel handcuff with an iron saw, especially when it's not electric. You'd dull the serrated blades Geek = Walker
SIKKS66 59 Posted November 15, 2010 When Rick and Glenn were going through the crowd of zombies acting like them, I couldn't help but think of Shaun of the Dead... But yeah, great show so far. Will keep me happy until Breaking Bad season three makes it's way over the pond in some form (DVD, TV, flickbook, ANYTHING JUST BRING IT OVER!)
Otter 7,900 Posted November 15, 2010 I've been reading the book, and I quite like the differences between the two. Except.... Is Rick still gonna lose his hand? It would seem weird if it happens to both him and Merl, but perhaps this was just a little (overbearing) foreshadowing? There's a lot of significant differences so far. Anyhow, loved the episode. I wish Shane (is that his name?) was a little prouder of beating that guy up instead of doing the whole awkward-stumble-away-in-shame thing. He's trying to be the sheriff here, damnit. Did anyone else notice that it seems Laurie Holden thinks she's in an entirely different TV show? There so many great dialog/conversation scenes, only to have them shattered whenever she spoke up in that way-too-overacting sort of way. She was great on the Shield, from what I remember. Fnorg 1,923 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) The thing that breaks me is that we've just got three episodes left. I hope it's not going to take until next November for the second series to air. I'm with Garcia on this one, I personally thought the episode was even better than the second one in terms of everything but action. When they went up that roof to fetch Merle, I was hoping for some closure, but no, it's another goddamn cliffhanger. Gah, the suspense! I'm hoping he's dead, because there's realistically no way he can survive with his hand missing like that and with so many geeks (heh) around. EDIT: Did anyone else react to how video-gamy it was when Bearded Old Man gave Rick that job? "Quest added: Retrieve Bearded Old Man's Tools." darthYENIK 8,554 Posted November 16, 2010 Really, only three episodes left? Hopefully it's just for a couple of months, because six episodes makes weeds look like 24.
[SM]CJZera 1 Posted November 17, 2010 Three episodes left? Damn... Episode three lacked much action, but it's definitely clearing up to make more of a carnage later on... It was pretty obvious someone was going for the gunbad sooner or later though... You totally can't waste that in a zombie apocalypse... PS: Fox showed in next episode's preview, another gang capturing the asian kid whose name I don't remember right now and exchanging him for the gunbag This can only get better now...
