GTA IV Patch 7/EFLC Patch 2

I downloaded my GTA IV and Liberty City copies from Direct-2-Drive, with its download manager.

 

Can I safely install this patch?

I own a legitimate copy of GTA IV and just updated from "stock" to 1.0.7.0. Now I can't open the game. The patch applied and anytime I go to open the game now the goddamn social club opens up with "Cancel," "Play Offline," and "Play" (if you login) options. None of which do anything (except cancel). Ugh.

 

I downloaded a crack and can play the game but my saved game is lost. So, despite BUYING the game, I still had to get a crack to get it to work. Wtf is this?

 

Any ideas on how to recover my saved game would be great. I have the populated savedgames folder but the game never seems to pick it up. Thanks.

It should, but between 5 and 6 there were some major changes that could possibly cause issues if you don't go in order.

I must say that the Very High shadows are utterly broken.

All settings lowest with Very High shadows gets the same god damn FPS/stutter as all settings highest.

Meh, I use ENB on Patch 4 so it doesn't matter me any; looks better and get's better FPS (double win).

 

Well, it looks like R* have completely given up on the PC now anyways. No Red Dead, no LA Noire.

Even if they do port them at a later date, we'll just get what we have now with IV... which still looks and plays better than the consoles but is still a shoddy statement on their PC gaming stance.

 

Has Dan Houser ever mentioned the PC platform?

Downloaded and installed this patch. The game has stopped running since. It says "SecuRom Launcher has stopped working", and "Grand Theft Auto IV has stopped responding."

 

I installed this patch to upgrade the game directly from 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.7.0.

 

Is there a solution for this, or do I need to install an older patch to be able to use this patch? !

I have Patch 7 and one thing I noticed right off the bat was the colors compared to Patch 4 didn't seem right. It looks like there is a gray tint to it and looks a bit blurry. Patch 4 for me was colorful and smooth. Here are a few pics of what I mean:

how do you get back to RTM ? and where do i get to dl 4 ?

If I install this patch over the original game (v. 1.0.0.0) it will work and remove the RESC10 FATAL ERROR?

About the RESC10 error all information I found is from 2008 and nothing of that fix the problem, is this new patch 7 the only way?

In rockstar support website http://support.rockstargames.com/templates...t+Auto+IV&nlpq= there's only patch7 not the other ones.

I ask this because some people said that the game has stopped running after installing the last patch.

If patch 6 is more reliable here can I download it?

how do you get back to RTM ? and where do i get to dl 4 ?

Uninstall the game and reinstall from the disc.

I have the same experience with patch 6 & 7, I've lost about 5-10 fps vs the earlier patches, along with pop-up problems that are only partially fixed with command lines. The newest patches push the game into borderline unplayable territory, since 20fps feels a lot jerkier than 25-30.

 

I'd take the original dithered shadows over this any day of the week.

With Patch 7, I can almost max the game and the engine still runs fluently. Finally a job well done.

For some reason since the new patches for EFLC and vanilla the game wont launch from steam. I have to go to the directory and use the Launch exe

BTW: I’m a legit owner of the disc but I don’t want to use my optical drive too much during the 12 weeks of the Sandy Bridge MOBO wilderness

Medium shadows setting remove the stuttering and they are equal/better than higher quality pre-1.0.6.0 version shadows

(with 1.0.6.0 patch they changed engine's shadows, correct me if I'm wrong).

 

For silky smooth gameplay on high spec computers: select higher than normal process priority for the game (not sure if this is really necessary), core affinity to 0-2-4-6 (only for i7 cpus, you can gain up to 10 fps doing this), shadow and night shadow to medium, visual distance to 40, detail distance: 70, cars density to 50, vsync ON and do not use record gameplay functionality.

(All other settings to maximum)

 

I use a humble 1280x1024 resolution (my monitor is not very big and this is the max supported res) and latest 11.1a catalyst drivers.

Probably using bigger resolutions may give some problems.

 

If you have noticeable decrease in performance after 20-30 minutes,

I suggest you to create a commandline.txt file and put it in the game directory, open it with wordpad and add this

-memrestrict 629145600.

 

Sometimes you may notice some minor stutter when turning a corner with your car or moving the mouse but this is not a big problem.

 

Someone said that you can disable intel speedstep technology in the bios for this game but I can't confirm it will be of some help.

In some forums they said these stuttering problems are often related to Ati cards.

Nope... it didnt work. I can change all the settings but when I press save the screen goes black and then it goes back to the original settings.

Hmm, I remember this happening to me whenever I loaded a save and then tried to change the settings. Are you doing the same too? If yes, then start the game and change the settings before loading a savefile.
