GTA IV Patch 7/EFLC Patch 2

Recommended Posts

Ultra, actually you're right. I don't know what I was on about, since I'd just installed the game and didn't notice the sh*tty performance. I used to be able to play GTA 4 patch, whatever before the sh*tty patch, with medium shadows and high if I felt like having a slightly laggy game. Now with this new patch, medium settings are too laggy for me to bear and low just looks damm ugly and isn't worth the performance hit. So now I play with no shadows on TBOGT. Is there a way for me to get the first EFLC patch that didn't have these damm shadows?

I'm on about one thing lately; I have noticed that the water tends to eventually kaleidoscope into really unnatural patterns. It's like aspects of its display are off timing, slightly.

GTS 250 1GB, Win 7 64, Intel inside, Quad, fully patched, steam version. Game runs surprisingly well considering the issues inherent naturally in 3D implementation itself, and also those specific to a big open world urban game like this, with such unique content throughout that in itself is probably hard to batch and I bet overdraw sucks. The water really is a big part of the picture though, and I really want that vice city water to not do this, especially not in the video editor as it persists there as well in liberty city. So plox. Plox, I say. Fix the water.

EFLC update 1.1.2.0 came out few mounths ago but i still cant find RUSSIAN version!!! I already wrote a letter to R* support three weeks ago and there was no answer! How long should russia wait!? I hate all this bugs and other crap happening to my game! After 15 minutes of playing it crashes with my ATI RADEON HD 5970!!!!!!!!!!!!! suicidal.gif

I downloaded and installed the latest EFLC patch. Still no performance boost. Wait 4 another one. Or anyone can give me tips on how to increase framerate? I play it on my laptop, ASUS K50iN, 3GB Ram DDR2, 512 MB video Geforce G102M Cuda 2.2GHZ Intel Core Duo Processor, Windows 7.

your laptop is the problem

I don;t have the add-on's, I just have GTA IV. I installed the 1.07 patch today and wow - what a boost! Before 1.07 I was playing with view on 20 and detail on 20, now I have them both on 100 and even though I have done that, I am still getting better framerates! So they must have optimized the code really well!

On leaving the flat I was welcomed with a heavy rainstorm. This did not slow my framerate either, which I thought it might! Also, with the better shadows, the lightning created much better shadows - certainly as good as STALKER's!

So a big thanks for 1.07, as I am now playing this as it should be played in terms of settings and it looks so much better without any frame-rate loss!

It would be nice if R* were to say whether they are working on a new patch to:

1) Resolve Z-Fighting issues throughout the game

2) Add LOW night shadows.

3) Fix any other business which needs tweaking (some form of subtle line Anti-Aliasing OR a more subtle blur like the cut scenes would be nice to take the edge of the jagglies)

All i'd care about now is for them to fix shadows being cut off from your character/pedestrians/vehicles, vehicle light textures in TBoGT, and laggy spot near Algonquin-Alderney bridge, the small one close to Luis' safehouse.

As i drive past the bridge into Alderney, i take the highway and then around that area it lags for some reason, under the highway aswell. General area around Pay n Spray.

But seeing as they haven't responded for so long, i doubt there will be another patch.

I have the same issue. Whole Alderney lags for me like a motherf*cker for some reason. Other islands are fine, just that last 3rd one...

OK, this is kinda weird...

I just got GTA IV again the other day and it's been running strangely. One moment, it'll go the normal speed, like it does on the 360/PS3. Then... it'll just go ridiculously fast.

Just now, Niko got ejected out of an ambulance into the "freedom zone" or whatever the area is with the barricades blocking the bridges. lol Then the cop car that landed on him seemed like it was on rockets. After that, the camera was going way too fast as well.

Normal behavior or not? I remember when I had this game on my old system last year, it never did anything like this. That's why I'm wondering if it's this new patch or something else.

My system:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 635

MOBO: Gigabyte MA-GA785G-UD3H

RAM: PQI PowerSeries DDR2-800 2GB (2 of em running in dual channel)

GFX: Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 1GB

HDD: Samsung 500GB SATA

DVD: Plextor DVD-RAM SATA

I have the same issue. Whole Alderney lags for me like a motherf*cker for some reason. Other islands are fine, just that last 3rd one

Same here, I find that a lot of the third Island has issues either with lag or stutter, this is with SLI enabled as well as disabled and details turned down to below what the game sets.

All other islands (even Star Junction) are as smooth as silk.

My guess is either a glitch, or something more complex about the third island?

(not meaning to be thinking too far on a tangent, but has anyone noticed how most of the Z-fighting occurs on the third island too?)

Oh yeah and one more thing which needs to be fixed is how cars behave when a train is driving under the bridge! They STILL go crazy when a train drivers underneath the bridge.

the "z-fighting" - in most cases, is really shadow artifacts.

Some of it is indeed polygons fighting for order, but for the most part, the black banding, is shadow artifacts.

Better be another patch for the water animations being off time >_<

Dear R*, make your game compatble for nVidia Fx 5200 series.

I want to gain atleast 30 FPS on that.

Also fix that sh*tty shadows and attach the shadows back to peds/player/vehicles.

And last request, fix your own ass.

Thanks in advance and sincereley yours.

The 5200 series came out in 2003,you could barely play SA with that.Stop asking completely useless posts like that.

This is the case with most idiots expecting to get 30 FPS on their seven year-old card. Like they say, "Blame the operator, and not the equipment." (The operator being your card, and the equipment being GTA IV.)

I dont want to see next GTA for PC in this condition

This is probably a late reply but that statement really bothers me. So you're saying Rockstar should port their next games like past GTA games? Release only one patch? No proper support for widescreen? Having only one option or none at all to control graphical quality? No video editor? Or not make a port at all like the Stories games? The list of problems from previous PC ports goes on and on. GTA IV fixed a lot of these errors and added a lot of new features that previous PC ports never had and you still want more? Like OutOfTimer said, careful what you wish for.
