GTA IV Patch 7/EFLC Patch 2

Recommended Posts

Sweet, download 180.84 beta from nVidia's website now and uninstall your present drivers.

You will instantly see in-game difference. I am surprised that ppl don't talk about these drivers more.(?)

You know to force v-sync off right?

Yes, I know how to force off vsync.

I turned it off in nVidia Control Panel.

People never talks.

They complain too much only about R* and the game.

Funny thing, Im on 180.85 tounge.gif

That driver gives me the best performance.

The newer one makes the game stops 1 or 2 seconds and 10 seconds later it happens the same.

So the 180.8x are so far the best drivers.

Just a thought...

We only complain so much because we own (most of us) expensive hardware that should run this game without breaking a sweat. We all see the massive potential that GTAIV has, as a world simulator, and also as a life simulator. The game is f**kin' awesome, when it works(!).

Call us perfectionists, but when things aren't right we try to fix 'em.

That is why people on these boards sometimes seem p***ed off or bitch at each other.

I understand we bitch about the performance.

But...why you all bitch at each other??

R* ported(?) the game and they didnt optimised the game.

So we should blame R* and not the people here.

They have broken the game more.

But we still dont have to blame on people but on R* itself.

And I understand exactley the game doesnt run on top-end machines.

I myself run other games at max but this game not.

It must be mixed with low, medium and high.

Im not happy with the FPS too but its not a slideshow FPS.

i have to accept this and I can live with it.

It's still R*'s fault with this broken and bad optimised game.

7 patches already, the last 2 are nightmaires.

And this completely proves that you are idiot.

You have equal FPS both with patch 5 and patch 6 (just 1fps difference)

But conditions absolutely different!

1st, you have had your 50fps when you played with default CPU clocks at 2.67 ghz

Intel® Core i7 CPU         920  @ 2.67GHz

with patch 7 you have same 50 fps but your cpu is very overclocked to 3.34 ghz (seems like lie to me, because i have same CPU, it starts to shutdown at 3.20+ ghz to prevent damage because it temperature in GTA 4 is more than 90+ Celsius)

Intel® Core i7 CPU         920  @ 3.34GHz

I hope you know at least simple math because when you have same results = 50fpst after you overclocked your system, this means that your performance in game dropped!

So generally your system performance now is better than it was before (and you should keep in mind that GFX quality is lower now in GTA 4), but game results equal so, if your will install patch 5 now (dont forget to install RGSC u certified lamer) you will see better performance than what you have now! 55-60 fps with same settings.

Also both of your benchmarks shows totally different settings, and some of settings just missing (which looks like you manualy removed to cover LOW settings, or they was turned off).

your patch 6\7 settings are

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1920 x 1080 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: High

Shadow Quality: High

Reflection Resolution: High

Water Quality: Very High

Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x16

Night Shadows: Medium

View Distance: 25

Detail Distance: 31

and

patch 5 settings are

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1920 x 1080 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: High

Texture Filter Quality: High

View Distance: 29

Detail Distance: 36

texture quality is equal, texture filtering is not, 4 settings missing due of low or turned off values (yep u cant cheat us on this), and your V/D Distance: 25/31 in patch 6/7 results much lower than V/D Distance: 29/36 in patch!

Both physically 25<lower<29 and 32<lower36 so your quality of graphics in game now 100% lower, also you should count that even if you have had same values in both patch 5 and 6 benchmarks like 29/30 , they are not equal, because patch 6/7 have VERY REDUCED RENDER DISTANCE OF EVERY OBJECT (which is reason of insane objects pop-ins), so when with patch 5 your was able to set maximum distance ast 40, now you can set 100 and will still not look as good as 40 looked like in patch 5.

So generaly you are blind lie ass punk.

Because you cant see yourself, that even your benchmarks proves what i and others here say:

PATCH 6 and 7 reduces QUALITY OF GRAPHICS AND PERFORMANCE comparing to PATCH 5

Your benchmark results says that you managed to keep same FPS as before by reducing quality of graphics.

And you call it performance boost and you think that your game runs better??

After that, are you totally dumb or what?

If this not enough for you to see that you are blind (lol how can blind one see that he blind if he cant see anything, lol?) and absolutely wrong, I will do benchmark now with patch 5 then will install patch 7 and will do benchmark with same settings, to totally blow all your misinformation bullcrap out of this thread.

And this proves you are just talking out your ass. If you look at the benchmark files, you will see I having modified or removed anything. Again, I did note that it wasn't a fair comparison because my settings have changed. Also, the only reason I didn't edit out the FPS is because I knew you would say something about it if I did, however benchmark's FPS can't be used in true comparisons. The only reason I'm able to run such a high clock is that I don't air-cool. Anyone with a brain would likely deduce that. (Though I have seen someone get it to 4.0 on air, not stock cooling of course.)

The 4 settings that you say are missing are not in the report that benchmark saves. Thus I didn't post them because they aren't there. THE GAME HAS CHANGED since patch 6, and so has the benchmark.

And yes, my settings are a tad lower in some areas and higher in others. But as I have said TIME AND TIME AGAIN, to get the same or similar performance, you have to use lower settings, because the lower settings in the new patch are equal to the old higher settings. So yes, when you do a benchmark with the "same settings" in both patches, the patch 7 benchmark will be lower FPS. However if you do it with true same settings, you will see the same performance in both.

Anyway 'voodooman' and 'jnzooger' IDK which bitch I rattled but quit whining about benchmarks - they mean f**k all.
This had nothing to do with you or benchmarks from my side. I was just showing what benchmark shows as my settings cause it was easier than going to the screen and coping them all by hand. I know that benchmark FPS results mean absolutely nothing, but clearly other people don't. Again, I get slandered because some kid thinks he knows it all and tries to use benchmark results as a reason.

Jnzooger: (If that's your real name) What CPU cooler do you own? What frequency does your DDR3 operate at? What wattage is your PSU rated at, and what is it's peak output?

The answers to all these questions will tell me what to have for breakfast tomorrow. Ooh mystical.

180.84 driver would be great to test, but i have a 200 series card so it doesnt support the beta drivers.

Games should work better with newest drivers anyway.

DX runtime update made my game smoother, i just need to tweak my memrestrict to equal framerates and game smoothness (no popups or stutter).

Since R* got a lot else to do for $ they really dont have much time to update this game and that doesnt give any $. I just hope that they would do one last patch to fix memory leak and possibly flickering textures from far away.

So if we want R* to support us, we need to support them; i dont know how but arguing here pointlesly will not help anyone.

Don't really know how this helps with other people running GTA IV. Of course jnzooger isn't my real name, but it is one of 2 nicks I use all over the net.

At the moment I'm using this waterblock: http://www.dangerden.com/store/mpc-cpu-i7-...1366-block.html with this radiator: http://www.dangerden.com/store/black-ice-x...i-radiator.html (Yes, I know the radiator is overkill at the moment, but I am going to hook my video card into the loop sometime in the near future.)

My RAM is running at stock DDR3-1066 (533 MHz) 7-7-7-16.

My PSU is a 950w Coolmax as reviewed here: http://www.techaddicts.net/reviews/cug950/cug950.html (It may not be the best but it gets the job done.) I've never tested my current actual power draw, but I estimate it somewhere in the 650-750w range.

I like you, thanks.

Do you know anything about the "-refreshrate 30

-frameLimit 1" commands? They don't seem to be working for me, the fps does what it wants. :>

Thanks, water-cooling is cool, and therefore you are cool.

Coolness everywhere now.

One day, migt be dreaming, but I'm gonna buy a phase-change cooler: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1793. About $1000.

£870-940.

Those commands should be same as vsync but lock framerate to 30, of course if you look with fraps they are always under 30 fps, about 25-28 fps, so use something like -refreshrate 35 to get it near 30 fps.

It works fine for me.

i got a problem regarding patch 1.1.2.0 of EFLC, in related to Original GTA IV Patch.. I'm posting this because maybe some of you might also experience this or some of you are already experiencing this...

As we know patch 1.1.2.0 for ELFC adds a feature of having separate settings from GTA IV.. so it wont affect the Original GTA IV game..

I installed version 1.1.2.0 for EFLC, and i stayed in 1.0.0.4 (1.0.5.0) for GTA IV... before, i got problems with EFLC, cause playing EFLC resets the settings for GTA IV, until 1.1.2.0 came up.. i thought this fixed my problem, but unfortunately, my GTA IV wont start when i have 1.0.5.0 for GTA IV and 1.1.2.0 for EFLC.. so i tried to update my GTA IV to 1.0.6.0 / 1.0.7.0, and it works.. but having 1.1.2.0 for EFLC and 1.0.5.0 (1.0.0.4) for GTA IV, makes the GTA IV to wont start,.. i already have my separate settings for EFLC, but why does my GTA IV wont start with 1.0.5.0??? i mean.. it starts actually, but crashes before the LEGAL Screen comes up.. confused.gif

Hey I just have a quick question regarding GTA IV, i'm looking to buy it for the PC and was wondering do I need to install all of the patches released thus far one-by-one or do I only need to install the latest patch as it includes all previous fixes or what not?

Thanks

You just need the latest patch, that includes all fixes and few more bugs of all the patches.

I seem to have a problem with downloading the latest patch.

The "UpdateTitle" seems to have installed correctly, but "TitleUpdate" refuses to install, i get a window saying: "Installation failed. Run setup to install update."

Does anyone know how i can fix this?

Spider-Vice

You can't, it's just like that.

Hey Vorobev,

Sorry for my English, it is not my first language and i had the equivalent of 8 to 10 341 ml bottles. Not baby mix stuff...

MicroSchmuck's Game for Windows Live ofthen mess things up. Try downloading and installing the patch manually from this link:

http://support.rockstargames.com/help/rock...s/GTAIV_patch_7

If you have GTA IV Episodes from Liberty City Title Update download this insted:

http://support.rockstargames.com/help/rock...es/EFLC_patch_2

If you still have problems, try installing the patch MicroSchmuck's way when you start up the game (if your internet firewall allow it).

Good luck!

PS:

Other things that may cause problems installing the patch:

- Mods

- ANY unorthodox stuff

- Pirated copy

In the case of mods; bring back all the original files if you made backups and install the patch. Else uninstall/reinstall the game if you feel like it and install the patch

Well Rockstar Toronto aint a very active member but they do visit here. Dont think they are porting another game to PC right now, so they should have time on patching this game.

The RAGE engine should have been recreated from scratch to pc, because it still doesnt support it, only 360, ps3 and wii.

They could be working on a PC version of Red Dead Redemption in secret ph34r.gif
