Lol, the French team has descended in a total farce. The squad is refusing to train, Evra got in a fight with one of the staff and had to be separated by that oaf Domenech. Then the footballing director had enough, quit his position and has gone back to Paris.

 

They really need Blanc to take over asap.

My french is a bit rusty, but it seems Evra and Duverne, a physical prep nearly erupted into a boxing match, Domenech had to get in between them, and the squad refused to keep training so as to protest about Anelka. Duverne stated that the players will have to be the ones to explain what happened.

Paraguay seems especially fit this year. Great for them! The last generation was really solid, yet they underachieved.

Two weeks ago they were getting beat by Slovenia and Chile, and today the 78th ranked New Zealand have held the 5th ranked World Cup Champions Italy to a 1-1 draw! What a performance, what a team! G'won the New Zealand!

 

Potentially England vs Germany, Italy vs Holland, Argentina vs Mexico and Spain vs Portugal in the Knockout round!!

If I were to put a bet on a team to win it right now I'd go Argentina. Even if their absolute powerhouse of a team falters they have Lionel bloody Messi to fall back on to inspire them. Sure their defence is a bit makeshift- two midfielders at fullback and the inconsistent Demichelis and volatile Samuel at centre back- but they seem to be doing well and have a great team spirit. Also, Maradona is the perfect amount of crazy and inspiring to get the best outa his players.

 

Of course I'd love to see England spank the Argies on the way to winning the cup but I doubt Jamie Carragher and John Terry could handle a one legged Emile Heskey at the moment, forget Higuain, Milito, Tevez and Messi.

 

Oh and congrats to the Kiwis! I'd love to see em qualify with Paraguay above Italy

The only Bulgarian sides I know are Levski, Litex and CSKA Sofia. While the only Bulgarian I know that plays for Levski is Ivanov...

 

Anyway, the Italians are dwindling, England are stalling, the French are collapsing (surprise? ), so is it the Brazilians turn next? Will Kaka get a taste of Drogba's medicine?

Levski... I remember them from my days managing Nesebar on Football Manager 2009 CSKA Sofia dominated that league.

 

I'm pretty gutted for Patrice Evra tbh. He's had a sublime season at Manchester United- probably the second-best player of the season in the team and he's only behind Rooney by the slimmest of margins- and I'm sad to see his team suffer like this so early in the tournament. I hope Blanc keeps him on as captain. Proper quality fullback and a big personality in the dressing room. Also a bit of a character when it comes to talking to the press which is always a good thing (on this, how terminally boring Steven Gerrard in giving interviews? ). In fact I'd probably put him up there to take over from Nev as United captain when he retires as he has a better head on him than Rooney and is less injury prone than Rio.

Wow! Denmark have been impressive i thought, Good 45 mins against Holland and were unfortunate, I'm pleased they beat Cameroon, i've always liked a few of their players (Sorensen, Rommedahl, Gronjaer, Bendtner, Tomasson) Some pretty big names.

 

I've seen it from the start and i still believe Chile will be the team to prove their worth, great positive playing side.

Nice goal, great technique by the Brazilians. Ivory C only attacked a bit in the last 15 minutes, but if they are to chase the draw, it must be more then that.

I really want this game to pick up the pace a bit rather slow in the first half, it was dragging, would like to see IC get at least 2 goals to a Brazil 3.
