Hi! I present you my first car models the 2009 Maserati GranTurismo S and the 2011 Maserati GranCabrio!

I know that a lot of people want these cars as mods (not only in GTA), but nobody made them before I think...and just like most of the people I think that too these are one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

This is why I decided to make these 2 cars. They are made from scratch since I began with an empty white screen. (Not white at all, I had some blueprints luckily.)

These are the SA versions of the GTS and the GC, but I plan to convert these cars to IV in the next few weeks.

I don't want to waste your time with talking (or writing) too much, so here are some pictures, these are from the edited version, it's less specular, the wheel size is now correct and the transparency bug is fixed:

Drunk Russian 9

Man I want this in IV lol, love Maseratis'. Reason no one ever made one is because Maserati doesn't allow it's cars to be in video games i believe, meaning someone had to actually make one instead of just converting it. Seems you did the job quite well.

Oh wait wheels are huge.

too much specular

+1, it makes your great model look all sweaty. Also...no headlights?

Otherwise, nice job! cookie.gif

Thank you guys! I'm happy you like my car!

@Drunk Russian 9: LOL I didn't notice that the wheels are too big, tomorrow I'm going to make the wheels smaller wink.gif BTW Maserati allows their cars to be featured in videogames, like Test Drive Unlimited or NFS Shift. The GranTurismo S is featured in NFS Shift's Exotic Racing Series DLC which is PS3 and X360 only. I saw that GranTurismo S ripped model on sketchup.google.com, since with ZMod 2.2.4 you can import the cars from the X360 version of NFS Shift....

@Epoxi: There are headlights, maybe this is a bug with the headlight's glass that the material of the headlights is invisible when the lights are off.

is this also going to be in gta IV??

Yes, I will convert this soon to IV.

EDIT: Check the first post for updated version and pictures, I've corrected those things you mentioned before (too much specularity, incorrect wheel size, transparency bug)

gotta say this is too great to be a first time model, all the details look alright smile.gif

and did u make the cabrio's top an extra part?? so the car can be spawned without a top randomly

@Rider916: It's not my first model, it's just my first car. I made two Harley V-Rod bikes before. Those are scratch made too. And yes, the cabrio's top is an extra.

@Epoxi: Which logo? The chrome one on the front grilles?

Its seems to have the wheels to big, the front grill icon is too extruded backwards, and the Shadow seems to be messed up.

Sorry if im being a D!ck but well if you improve this mistakes, then the car will be awsome, try fixing em wink.gif

anything except those lil mistakes the car is awsome wink.gif

Those a good looking cars, pretty much awesome for you first car. smile.gif Whats the polycount (I hope not too high)? Some wireframe pictures would be nice to see. smile.gif

The convertion doesnt look too bad as well. I would add some reflection map to the paintmaterial for people with ENB, the same with the chrome material (tricky in GTA SA) and glass parts (glass needs specular as well, should be the same value as the paint material). The grey windowframes of the windshield and rear window should be darker, black like on the real car. The softtop needs some decent spec as well.

As a whole not bad, really not bad at all. Fix some of those materials and it should be a great mod. Cant wait for the GTA IV version! smile.gif

The polycount is around 20k, its low poly.

Here is your requested wireframe pic:

For the material of the soft top I didn't use specularity, because it's matte in real life too:

There is a reflection map for the paint material and for the glass for the people without ENB.

I'm gonna make that windowframe material black.

I'm going to begin converting my 2 Maseratis to IV sometime this week or next week, I dunno yet exactly.

I'm happy you like my car, if you say it's good then it should be, since as far as I know you are a professional in vehicle modeling. wink.gif

PS.: I loved your Saturn Ion Quad Coupé! I drove it so much in SA!

Whoa, I love you! Awesome to see more great looking lowpoly cars! I really hope to see a well converted version for IV, with good LOD models and everything. smile.gif

The model has some small bumps in some areas, some unnecessary polyrows that cause a dense wireframe in areas where it isnt necessary. I marked some of the areas, you might wanna adjust some things there before you convert it to IV. smile.gif

You are right, that softtop materials doesnt really have any specular. But I always recommend to use a very low (or high in Zmodeler?) value since GTA SAs lighting just sucks. Your model will look much better if you apply spec imo. smile.gif

And thx man. There are dozens of things Id change on the Quad Coupe. Im- and exporting the dff several times completly messed up the model, lots of hard edges where they shouldnt be. There are also a couple of things Id change on the outside, taillights just to name one. But Im glad you like it. smile.gif

I'll try to fix those polyrow thingys before I convert it to IV wink.gif

In Zmod you have to set the specularity to high, higher value -> less specularity.

I think your Quad Coupé is perfect, I never found any glitch or bugs on it. BTW I loved those damage models on that car. Your damage models gave me inspiration when I made my own for the Maserati smile.gif They looked soooo realistic, mine is more smiliar to NFS ProStreet or Undercover damage I think.

EDIT:

I was experimenting with the specularity thing on the softtop, I tried with the value of 100 and 0 of specularity, but both times it looked like this:

with ENB:

user posted image

without ENB:

user posted image

Without ENB the top looks better, but with ENB as you can see it's ugly... So I think I'll stay with the non specular softtop in the SA version. In IV it'll look better, because there I can use specmaps to make it look good...

20k isent lowpoly. 5k is.

/Besservisser.

It's still considered low poly as far as I know. 5k is obviously lowpoly, but a car is low poly until 30-40k polys, that's the amount of polys when it becomes midpoly and over 70-100k it's considered as hipoly.

The rims are already specular, maybe it can't really be seen from that angle I took the picture. smile.gif

Ah yeah, ENB likes to mess around with the materials. What if you try a value of 99? You could always release two versions, one for enb and one for all the other users. smile.gif

And awesome to hear that my damage model is inspirational biggrin.gif Keep up the good work. smile.gif

I'll try that smile.gif

EDIT: No change, with specularity of 99, it still looks ugly in ENB.

I've uploaded the 1.2 version, just click on the big red "Download" text again in the first post to get it smile.gif Now both cars have black window frames and the GranCabrio has an ENB and non ENB version. I'm going to upload some pics of the final version soon. It is likely the final version for SA. Now the next is the IV version!

EDIT 2: Check out the new pictures in the first post!

Yes, it's a WIP of the GranTurismo S conversion for IV! I have to fix many bugs, add some more IV features, fix the handling and make an L1 model. It's far from being done. After I finish this, I'll convert the GranCabrio too and both cars will be released in one archive just like the SA versions.

P.S.: How can I make that the light textures are not always on (lighting)?
