cool i was thinking this too i know for a fact that the diamonds are in a dump truck then end up in the trash in meadows park when they should be taken to the dump place but no they end up in the trash i remember reading the original news artical the finding the diamonds in meadows park wasn't there only that he lived near a dump and found the diamons amongst the dump and how the ownership could not be proved so he got to keep the diamonds and would go on to open a gunshop in vice city....

After the exchange of Gracie Ancelotti for the Diamonds, the diamonds everyone was after were thrown onto a passing truck. Kapowitz had been living near the Liberty City dump and surviving off of things he salvaged from there when he stumbled upon the diamonds valued at over $2 million in Meadows Park after bumping into Luis Lopez.

 

See how it acknowledges the Ice was at the dump at one point?

 

Also see how it states he lived NEAR THE DUMP and SALVAGED ITEMS from there?

 

Also see the fact the Ice happens to end up in the park (supposedly) magically and without explanation?

 

it seems more likely he found the ice at the dump and he kept them. Then he was walking through the park and bumped into luis, the reason he picked up the ice was

NOT BECAUSE HE FOUND THEM THERE BUT BECAUSE HE DROPPED THEM WHEN LUIS BUMPED INTO HIM!! THE SOLE REASON LUIS BUMPED INTO HIM (imo)

WAS TO SHOW THE ICE THAT LUIS MADE HIM DROP, otherwise they could've just made a cutscene of the bum finding the diamonds, theres no need for luis to bump into him other than to make him drop the diamonds he already had.

that sounds really good, i think that's the way it happened ,otherwise i can't imagine some other way that this whole thing could have happened...

And they couln't just make a cutscene where we saw the Bum finding the diamonds. I reckomend that you go play GTA again. We can only see what the Protagonists sees.

your just some nerd combing through facts because you cant form you're own theory about how the diamonds got back there. You still have no reason why the diamonds got back there. you choose to believe that the diamonds magically teleported to meadows park, the same park the bum (who lived near the dump) was at. You choose to believe it's all just a coincidence that the bum and the diamonds were at the park simultaneously.

 

The only way the diamonds could've got at the park was if the BUM TOOK THEM THERE!

There is no other way.

Anyway, R* altered the story on the news reports in-game, so they recognise the hole they've created for the sake of the player witnessing the bum finding the diamonds whilst tie-ing in with Luis' story.

the diamonds dropped into the truck after the exchange and landed into a half-eaten sandwich,the truck transported them to the dump,the hobo found the sandwich and placed it into hes pocket because he has already eaten some junk...after that he roamed around in the park where he bumped into Luis right next to a trash bin,the sandwich with the diamonds dropped in it,the hobo wanted to pick it up from there,and then he saw the diamonds! That should be what happened, and it is what makes the most sense. It is strange how the diamonds get from the dump to the park. But I just looked at the in game internet, and it says this-

 

"...they were in a small pouch amongst the trash in Meadows Park. Mr. Kapowitz had been living near the dump and surviving off things he had salvaged from there."

 

That sentence kinda contradicts itself. I guess that is because they edited the story in BoGT because they just HAD to show him finding the diamonds.

Personally (note that I didn't watch all the previous cutscenes thoroughly) I thought Luis bumped into the bum on purpose and gave him the bag of diamonds. I had noticed R* made a big deal about him running into the bum, putting a lot of attention into it, so that added to the belief. Also the name of the mission where they get Gracie back (Ladies Half Price). Luis may have seen the bad luck in the diamonds and decided to just get rid of them and what better gesture than to give them to a bum.

 

Though even if this were true that still doesn't explain the GTA:IV article saying the bum found them in the dump. Couple that with the article in TBOGT saying they were found at the park it doesn't really matter how they ended up there, it's told to us by R* that they were found there.

 

The only answer at that point (given the contradicting articles) is that there was a goof.

That makes no sense because Luis didn't have the diamonds on him, by the time he meets the hobo the diamonds were already thrown onto the truck by Niko and Packie. That said, it would be an awesome ending if Luis accidentially dropped the diamonds, turned around and saw the diamonds in the hobo's hands and would be like "I don't want the damn things".

It's just a plothole. Nothing more. Rockstar apparently wanted to end the IV franchise story with something interesting, so they altered the story for that last cutscene. It's impossible to fit this in with the original story from GTA IV.

 

Dunno why there's so much discussion about this still. This was known and discussed from the moment TBOGT came out for XBox.

I can't believe no one has posted this yet. The Gracie ransom mission in TBoGT is called "Ladies Half Off" or something similar. I'm pretty sure Luis took half the diamonds and just dropped them on accident when he hit that bum.

I say he found them at the park, like the creators of the game say in the news report. If he took a sandwich from the dump, then he didn't find them at the park.

Why can't you check for yourself? Instead of sitting here and coming up with stupid theories involving a sandwhich or Luis dropping another set of diamonds?! Lazy buggers.

Even if you do look at the news report, it says what I quoted earlier.

That sentence itself creates a plothole. It starts off talking about how he found them at Meadows Park, then goes on to say he had been living near the dump. You can tell it's edited. Apparently R* thought it was such a big deal to see the hobo getting the diamonds they created a plothole.

 

For the record, florisinfernus wasn't the one with the sandwich theory. Plus, I think it was a half joke anyway.
