UrbanAdventuring: Cool, very intricate map you are making there. Are you using that colour scheme in the map overall (with the red, blue, yellow)?

aqwaqwaq8: Now that looks big! I see you are doing a ..erm... slightly more realistic rendition of the San Fierro area.

It is my birthday, and that ends the busy two weeks I have had. Work on the map has resumed, and is there anything you want me to add? I am fully open to requests! See you guys later.

Finally, I started working on some maps again, currently working on a GTA version of South Florida:

djkm3k5v.jpg

That's the main part of the map. There's still some land to the south and the Florida Keys, but first I want to finish this area. The Everglades will be located south west of Vice City. Fort Baxter based on Fort Myers will be a town located in the north west and I'll probably at a little village to the big lake too.

The quality of the image is bad but it's just a preview anyway. :p Also, the final map won't be much bigger than IV's map which might be a bit disappointing for some people but I think the size is okay for this location.

Hope you like it so far. :)

My new map for my Dixie GTA concept (Still working on a title) its based in the state of Gelania which is heavily based on Georgia but with elements of Appalachia thrown in and swampy marshes like Louisiana. Ozark lake in the top right is roughly the same size as the Alamo sea.

Athena is based on Atlanta and is huge. Probably atleast 2 or 3 Los Santos in size. Just look at the scale of Ozark lake vs the city. The dark grey is the urban center of Athena (Downtown and older neighborhoods surrounding it) and the light grey is the more suburban area and the sprawl around the city. In this Version Downtown and Midtown are mashed together in the dark grey area and Buckhead is depicted but has a smaller skyline and is located about half way between the dark area and the loop freeway. So the cities entire skyline isn't spread out and flows together more.

The small towns aren't necessary based on any real life towns just stereotypical southern towns.

The area to the north of Athena is farmland and the area to the east is thick pine forest and the large Merit Swamp. Once you hit the mountains it is similar to Appalachia in Tennessee/Kentucky/West VA.

Liberty City: Update 12

-snip-

Click here for the version without names/icons.

Click here for the version with icons only.

After weeks of silence, here is the 12th update of my Liberty City map. The only reason it's been so long is because I wanted to post this update as my

:D:D ----1000th POST!!!!!!!!!!---- :D:D

So the change log is:

  • Started South Alderney City (Jersey City) and Alderney Meadows,
  • Continued Bohan (I did that a long time ago.),
  • Created the general shape of Southern Broker (Too small. I will change it later),
  • Made the islands (Happiness, Blodau and Colony) smaller to match the scale better,
  • Remade the International Exchange Center (World Trade Center) to make it under construction,
  • Renamed "Bridges Midway" as "Midway",
  • Corrected the roads and the highway in South Eastern Side and Midway,
  • Made the Broker Navy Yard a bit better,
  • Started Blodau Island (Ellis Island),
  • Started Colony Island,
  • Maybe some other details.

So thanks for reading, I hope you like it! Please leave feedback or like the post!

If you have any suggestion for the map, post it in this topic.

-------------------

@Carmain2K: I love your map and I am excited to see more about it. I also like how you make small towns.

@phoenixShine: Wow, that's a big map! It's a map of Chicago, isn't it? Good work!

Do you plan on writing a concept to go along with this map?

The_Anti-tragedy

Made a map in SumoPaint. Took me, probably, 12 hours to make across two days.

It's a county. Not based on any particular place, and haven't thought of any names for places yet.

3hcoTzw.png

2 cities, 8 towns, 6 mountains, 20+ islands and 1 desert.

So... I continued my work on my second map, and here's the update

KvvE371.jpg

I almost finished the freeway system of the map, added a town in the left-upper corner, added the boundaries of two more town in the south east portion of the map and changed some colours. Now the mountains are brown, while the dark green represents forests.

Hope you liked and please leave feedback! Thanks :)

@Carmain2k: Happy Birthday! The 15th April it's my birthday, it's not far away from yours xD

@The_Anti-Tragedy Looks really good! Great map!

Continuing the work on "Pureland", which is my take on New England, I have completed the road grid for the second largest city, Impotence. This city is based on Providence, Rhode Island.

I changed the color coding for zones to a brighter scheme. Still, red = residential, blue = commercial, and yellow = industrial. New colored areas are bright green for sporting venues, and purple for miscellaneous public buildings like city halls, hospitals, and police departments. There are some icons visible on this map showing hospital and airport locations, but they are small. I need to enlarge the icons.

I have added some small updates to my map. Added some roads, a dam and changed the form on the right side a little bit

This is my first map ever, made for a planned Gotham City (Non-Batman) concept thread. I know it sucks, and it´s obviously not finished.

Green=parks, green lots and residental areas with a lot of grass (Including projects).

Blue=water.

Light grey=ordinary buildings.

Dark grey=industrial areas.

Whit=parking lots.

Pink=carnivals, circuses and funlands.

Yellow=beaches.

The premise of this map is that it´s based on different cities in America, mostly New York and Los Angeles. The mid-island, which is basicaly finished, is called Kingston, and is the central business and commercial island with many historic landmarks and supertall skyscrapers. Between the historic Financial District in the south and the touristy Midtown, there are a lot of hit-and-miss neighborhoods. Over midtown is the large King Park and it´s surrounding, affluent neighborhoods. Then you have the historical black and latino areas Northside Village and Quebrados Heights, then the commercialized neighborhoods of West and East Greenwood (Based on Hollywood), then the rich suburbs, Lakeside Beach and King Hills.

The eastern island, Rockford, is very diverse, with trendy, redevoloped neighborhoods in the west, and industrial ghettos in the east. The western island is Westerson, with the southern part being very rich. The northern and central parts are outside Gotham City borders, dominated by a large countryside and many small, unique towns. The airport is also here, and the largest city outside Gotham in Gotham County, North Beach. Gotham County is supposed to be located on the New Jersey side of the Delaware Bay.

Yeah, kinda. Just the general character of each island is very much like LC in GTA III. Westerson is like Shoreside Vale, Kingston is like Staunton Island, and Rockford is like Portland.

San Andreas Map: Update 10

Hey there guys, I have continued working on the map and now I have enough done to make a update. So, with out further ado, here is the map:

2xqja2V.png

Changelog:

  • Revised roads in San Caballo in order to make it less dense.
  • Added Ocean Flats (just south of the airport)
  • Cleaned up the Salt Lake and added more coast effect.
  • Started Buchanan (Fremont)
  • Edited the mountains.
  • Added lakes.
  • And the most change of all - SAN FIERRO HAS BEEN STARTED. So far I have done:
    • Hashbury (Haight-Ashbury)
    • Paradiso (The Presido)
    • Juniper Hill (Nob Hill)
    • Calton Heights (Pacific Heights)
    • Chinatown
    • Missionary Hill (Mount Davidson)
    • Easter Basin Docks (Bayview)

I hope you like what I have done. Today I have really got back into mapmaking, and I have had a creative burst recently. Lets hope it stays that way! Anything you want me to add? I will be happy to, as long as I can fit it in. Hope you like the map, and please leave feedback. It helps, a lot. Thanks for reading!

That looks awesome, man. Pretty different from my sh*tty map.

Also, I´ve added neighborhood names. Not all, but all on Kingston, atleast. Done some work on the eastern island (Rockford) aswell. Unfortunately, I decided to add an highway around Kingston and a new avenue, but they go over some of the neigborhood names, and I can´t seem to delete the names and add them onto the new roads. Anyone know what I should do? I´m a n00b at Paint.

If you are using Paint then there are no layers, meaning that you will have to cover over the names and do them again. Then again, I cant say much as my picture only has one layer to minimise lag. It is good, but use curved roads!!! it looks way to square at the moment. Also, reduce the amount of intersections, because they look a bit messy. But it is good for a first attempt, well done!

@Carmain2k and Aqwaqwaq8 It's nice to see two different maps of the Bay Area. Both of them are great, keep it up guys. :D

@Aqwaqwaq8 I think you should use darker colors, IMO that light green doesn't fit that well but everything else, top!

Thanks for the feedback.I've tried to make the light green a little bit darker to match the dark green.

I will probably experiment a little more with the colors when the map is finished.

Damn, its good to see how this thread has taken off recently. I mean, early last year (when I was Carmain2013, I think) this had only just really started up again after being dead for 3 months. Then it died again until October, when LibertyKing started posting his map. And now we have 5? maps going at once from 5 different people, its brilliant!

^^^Yep, this thread is alive again, finally. :D

So here's an update of my South Vice - Map:

dHdb8kW.jpg

Decided to place the lake more to the north, extending the map. I'm almost done with the streets, so I will start soon with the northern area and the south + Keys. After that I will probably add buildings and improve the shores.

PS: Ignore those little lines in the ocean and on some of the coasts, will remove them in the next update. ;)

Better quality: http://i.imgur.com/3RSUDPM.jpg
