Then why is the 1941 Bombing Memorial still there? I can assume that must've been an oversight on your part. But, I'm sure you'll get rid of it or change it for 1926.

sh*t, I forgot that was there. I'll have to change it. Thanks for pointing it out to me. I think I'll make it the 1915 memorial bombing or something.

The City of Gatsby 1926 - Version 1.7

H2OTfcH.jpg

Welcome to the City of Gatsby, Hudson State!

I was thinking of perhaps turning Oceania into mix of 1920's Australia and America. I'm still working on some draft concepts at the moment. I'll let ya's know when I come up with something concrete.

Change Notes

  • Shi District added
  • Roads added for Old Town, Sinatra Square and Little Dublin
  • Roads for July Park updated
  • 1915 Gatsby Bombing Memorial updated. (During World War 1 in 1915, remnants of the German Navy in the Pacific bombed the city of Gatsby as well as other cities along the south-eastern coastline of  Oceania including Port Arthur, Cresant and Colton)

aHn0pr6.pngThis was a screenshot from my photoshop "Idea's" file where I mess around with different map ideas and came up with this New Jamestown concept with the neighbourhood's and districts shown in colour. I made it with a more accurate Brooklyn type design in mind.

That is some fine work dude, i'll take my hat off for you sir!

It won't be the final map exactly ofcourse but it surely could be something like this as Rockstar ultimately want the whole North America's as a map. Maybe they will get inspired by this, i know i do! how cool would this be!

One point of criticue though: you used the LS-map twice, in my opinion you could've just wipe the east part of that duplicate, or start from scratch. i don't know what that eastern part is based off?

There is a rumor going around that Cities Skylines is getting a sequel which will give players more building room (at least 3 times more room) and have multiple cities and other stuff included. That means "IF" true, people can build the GTA regions instead of just one city, so that means we could get a chance to finally get the regions of our dreams! https://dailygamingreport.co.uk/latest-gaming-news/rumour-cities-skylines-2-is-in-the-works/ (Still working on west coast don't worry, just thought that this news would be interesting to share)

sounds awesome, cities skylines is cool and all but some of the build restrictions pisses me off, even with mods.

Santiago, Chile

Good afternoon everyone.

A long time ago, i said i would make a map about Santiago, which is the city i live in, so here i am, posting my progress :D.

uM1PWbc.png

It's still a work in progress, as i've only made Santiago Centro, one of Santiago's communes.
I featured some visited/popular/important buildings and places around there, like:

  • Palacio de La Moneda.
  • Entel Tower.
  • Palace of Courts of Justice.
  • Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.
  • Metropolitan Cathedral.
  • Plaza de Armas (The Main Square).
  • History Museum.
  • PDI Headquarters.
  • Museum of Fine Arts.
  • Cultural Center.
  • Museum of Visual Arts.
  • National Library.
  • Santa Lucia Hill.
  • Forestal Park.
  • A bunch of ministry buildings.
  • Some commercial buildings.
  • And some residential buildings.

And of course, the main Avenues (which some of them are also highways):

  • Alameda Avenue.
  • Central Highway.
  • Andrés Bello Avenue (This one has multiple names, so i chose the nicer one).

And let's we not forget:

  • Mapocho River.

I guess that's it, i plan on updating this in a few days when i have more progress done (And yes, the GTA Chile thing is ridiculous lol).

Have a good day!

Mini Update For my San Andreas Map

I decided to post a mini update for my map. I took the Downtown Los santos portion of my map and took the real life Los Angeles counterparts and put them into google sketchup, You also get a sneek peek in the building map for Los Santos ;)

Response would be appreciated

OK but the dark tall tower (AoN) or what its called should be right in front of the Maze bank tower. and it also should be tased toward the MB tower. But awesome creation. Love it. I wish they would've added more buildings like this. Great Job. Love it

San Andreas Map - Update 3

I have decided to sort out my map update schedule. Once a week, I will update the map and post it (any more and I will overwork myself). Here is the map:

Fpmb6Tql.png

Link to the big map is here:http://i.imgur.com/Fpmb6Tq.png

Changelog:

  • Halved the size of the map (now 3500x4000 pixels)
  • Added Cassidy Creek above Fort Zancudo
  • Worked a lot on the Vinewood Hills
  • Expanded the Marlow Vineyards
  • Connected Dillimore, Blueberry, Montgomery and Palomino Creek together.
  • Made a airfield near Montgomery.

Hope you like the map everyone. This is turning into a very big project, and I've only just started. Thank you Libertyking for suggesting I made the map smaller, seeing as this thread takes ages to load anyway, that should help a bit. As will the fact that the preview map is a large thumbnail. In the next update I will have finished up the Banham Canyon area and most of the Zancudo Valley (between the river and the Tataviam Mountians. And greasy_rainbow, I will add San Fierro and Las Venturas when I get to them. Feedback is appreciated, and don't be afriad to be blunt.

Thanks for reading.

what software are you using to create these kind of maps. I wanna know so I can create one myself.

Looking very good! Can't wait for South America.

I like how drastically the road layout changes between USA and Mexico, and that you maintain the main parts of every city :).

Thanks. I try to get the whole city and then make it fit the place it's supposed to be in (terrainwise). Sometimes I make the Terrain bigger in places so that it fits. I try to condence the city by taking only the main roads, and if that isn't enough then also condense the area of the city.

And here's Red Dead Modern Day, Version Five.

It's been about five months since the last update, but during that time I waited for RDR2 to come out on PC and someone to create a satellite map of the entire map, inaccessible areas included. So huge thanks to DuPz0r and his satellite images of the RDR2 Map.

With the corona panic preventing many of us from going to work or attending school, this was as good a time as ever to work on this little project.

The next update will hopefully actually have the portions of the map from the game itself (New Austin, West Elizabeth, Ambarino) finished, and after that, I'll probably start working on the new surrounding areas and begin mapping Guarma.

If you really want to create good maps, use illustrator, it uses vectors, which keep the entire size of a map like this a lot smaller for your pc.

Thank you, thank you! It is a combined work with a few other creators, but this is (to me) the ultimate GTA Map.

I edited some things and tried to get it online in an higher resolution:

This is basically the best SA map I have ever seen. The sizings and all, very realistic. This would be a realistic rendition of the SA state in a future GTA. There is enough space between the cities, you wouldn't see SF and LV from Vinewood Hills with V's draw distance for example. You also combined Blaine County with all other SA counties properly, along with all those little details and own ideas. Great job, I applaud you. Hopefully something like this will be reality in the future, although I don't think it is realistic for GTA VI. GTA VI will propably come out for PS4 and Xbox One, and I doubt that our current consoles will be able to handle a proper state of San Andreas that is similar to your map.

Great job!!!

@killdrivetheftvehicle: I'm sorry but I have to say it: Your map looks amazing! I love the streets and the way you made the cities all fit and nothing looks out of place or weirdly shaped. You've even included the little city I'm from.

So, uh, I got a new PC. I've only been playing Cities Skylines for the past week and found out it has a really good map view mod. It is a little bit resource intensive so be aware if you haven't paid ungodly amounts of money for your computer. It generates SVGs through an external program. You can make it whatever size/resolution you want and save that as a PNG. You can also choose which elements you want (terrain, buildings, roads, text, etc.) and if you disable the terrain (which leaves to be desired, unfortunately) in the view tab, it'll render a transparent image and you can draw it yourself.

(I have not been paid nor asked to say this, by the way lol.)

The result looks oddly like some of my own maps, but it's quite pleasant-looking.

Full size.

Also, welcome to the city of New Empire, the largest city in Numerica. Only 60% based on NYC!

So if you want to make maps for this page as well as the cities themselves, you can!

Thanks, I try. To be honest it's not perfect, but I want the big cities big enough to be called cities, and because my computer can't handle a map of a bigger scale, then the terrain needs to be reshaped if necessary. The cities are more complex in real life, but I think they look playable enough with just the barebones of biggest roads. Some cities need to be small, but like Ottawa/Gatineau needs to be there, because Ottawa is the capital of Canada. You just have to have the capital of the country, don't you? Also some cities have so dense road networks, that I need to take some out to create bigger blocks for buildings. Ofcourse you could just have the city center in every city, but what's the fun in that?

Well since Gatineau is the little city I'm from, yeah, I agree. And putting the city center only is what The Crew did and it doesn't look very good. I think your map looks awesome.

My new project (fully in Illustrator to cut the gpu power for my PC). Version 0.1: Vice State. Tried to keep distances realistic and include well... my beloved New Bordeaux, albeit a tiny bit updated.

if any one has a tip on how to create a mountain from top down in this color graph; let me know. I am not happy with the current colouring of the mountains. Yes I know Florida doesn't have mountains (Except in the themeparks); but it would be very boring to have a flat island 😛

So I'm not going to update this too much because this is GTA Mapmaking, not "Show Off Your Cities Skylines Maps", but I still wanted to post a little update with more pictures of the city to show how it changed since last week.

The map is completely empty and mostly flat because it's custom and I didn't feel like making the landscape of the whole map before I could start building.

OK, so when I said 60% based on New York, I meant the city as a whole, including the parts I haven't built yet. This part, Normandy, is like 90% Manhattan, 5% random buildings from other cities and 5% me.

That's it. I probably will not update this any further on here.

Nice! I see many inspirations from GTA III Staunton Island.

I'm thinking about remake some city in CS too. Maybe San Francisco or New York too...

@Yannerrins Funny you'd say that cause I haven't looked at GTA 3's map once making this. But now that you mention it, the stadium is quite similarly placed. And the park with the skyscrapers to the right of it... Yeah, maybe I was subconsciously inspired.

It's actually a remake of a city I made on the PS4 version of the game before I could afford a good PC. There was a time when the stadium wasn't there. That space used to be empty, then, when the Disasters DLC came out, I put a Disaster Response Unit there. Then, when Campus came out and they added an option to disable fire spreading, I replaced it with an American Football Stadium for the University that I haven't built yet where it's labeled College Point.

I had to include the picture because I love backstories... and pictures. Here is New Empire City back in April of last year (With the Disaster Response Unit). Really, it still looks like GTA 3 with the island with the airport surrounded by the creek. The other side even looks a bit like Portland. It really looks a lot like Liberty City. I swear I had no inspiration from GTA 3 at all. I'm shook.

Spoiler

msr6tGU.jpg

I literally have 20 GB of pictures of Cities Skylines on my PS4. About 60% of it is from this city. The console version is great if you don't have a gaming PC. That is if you don't care about mods or making custom maps... which I do. BTW, I was using the "Windfield" map from the Park Life DLC.

But if you're thinking of building a real city keep it mind a lot of assets can be quite complicated to work with. The Brooklyn Bridge, for instance, is one single building you have to put down entirely on water., unless you have you have Road Anarchy, which is barely compatible with the newest patch right now, but luckily I put it there before the update. It doesn't snap to the height automatically, so I had to use Move It to raise it, which caused every single pillar to reappear, so I had to remove them one type at a time by selecting one with Move It, which was made more difficult by the size of the bridge's collision box... And the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges from SF do exist on the workshop but they're quite difficult to work with... Basically, brace yourself if you're making bridges. For San Francisco, if you're building it 1:1, the bridges should work perfectly though. Anyway, didn't want to discourage you... Good luck!

OK, I really need to stop talking about Cities Skylines now.
