could you "repair" that opening post? all links and thumbnails seem to be broken. When I click on one of those, I will just get the opening post again. It just refreshes the page as it seems.

What app or program do you use to create the maps? I've had to use the drawing tool on keynote.

I had to cut the map into 3 parts just to make it fit. Goes from north to south. Here is the WIPs:

https://sta.sh/0vn0xrqevfp

https://sta.sh/018gnv8znedn

If someone was to make these in cities skylines with all the DLCs included I would be very impressed and Carmain might be too wherever he may be right now. God bless that man for he is ONE of the MANY great inspirations to GTA San Andreas map makers.

Project: Oceania (Spinoff Area) - Illville, New Ford

63TxRKw.png

Taking a break from the main Project: Oceania map which is primarily being made in an area called 'The State of the Hudson', I've moved on to create a different map for a different section of the map called Illville which is located far away from the Metropolis of Empire City and the surrounding towns, on the island state of New Ford.

I may occasionally create different cities in different planned states from time to time to exercise my imagination outside of the Hudson State, next planned two spinoff maps after the completion of Empire City would be an inland city in the State of Morsby called Turnbull and the Metropolis of Redding which is also located in Morsby. Eventually these maps (once made) will eventually be incorporated into the main Project: Oceania map but until then, stay tuned for update 1.2 of Project: Oceania which is nearly complete with only two area's that need completion, the borough's of Emporia and Splitrock.

Any critics and reviews are much appreciated.

I used photoshop and Illustrator,
This map's MB's are sky-high, 500 MB or something :')

EDIT: 930 MB

If you really want to create good maps, use illustrator, it uses vectors, which keep the entire size of a map like this a lot smaller for your pc.

All the maps here are awesome and I particularly like this one. It's a talent for sure.

I'm definitely on the side of hoping for a massive map in the next GTA. But it did occur to me that a huge map would need an enormous, almost unrealistic number of missions to allow the storyline to play out across the whole of the game world.

Then I remembered how relatively large parts of the GTA5 map had very little if any story going on in them, but it was still fun to have all those places to explore and figure out.

Here's some progress on GTA World 2 map

The way that the towns here are tightly-defined blocks kind-of reminds me of the way the Nile Delta, or maybe Hebei in China, have developed. (Presumably the farmland in places like this is so valuable that the towns tend to develop in tight and dense urban blocks rather than to sprawl out in ever-expanding directions. In the Chinese example, zoom-in to those tiny grey dots and you'll see that they are little town units all of their own.)

That's not a criticism of your map at all by the way, I'd love to see things like this in future GTAs.

Project: Oceania - The City of Gatsby

sUj0NMW.jpg

Welcome to the City of Gatsby! This is going to be a more in depth remaster of (the formally) Empire City. This will include a new and improved road network, a new 1920's Art Deco colour scheme and of course, that brilliant logo that I love so much! Note that I decided to create this remaster sortly after watching 'The Great Gatsby" (And yes, that's where I got the name) and found myself inspired by the architecture and style of 1920's New York City and decided to try and reflect that 1920's style with this map.

Current Progress

 - Borough's have been named (or renamed in Aquitaine and New Thame's case)

 - All Districts have been named (lot's have been added)

 - All sea/ bay areas have been named.

 - Logo has been completed (It's beautiful:D)

 - Terrain has been enlarged and slightly edited.

 - New colour scheme to reflect the 1920's personality of the city.

Future Plans

 - Road Network for all Borough's

 - 1920's Art Deco themed blips

 - A short history of the City of Gatsby

Please tell me your thoughts on the map! It would be much appreciated.

Oh my god this is amazing, kudos man, for real, that map and the styling and colors just exude the roaring 20's, again it's an amazing map. I really like the islands and the layout of the city as well, really reminds me of the godfather, maybe in your history of Gatsby you can expand on what kinds of criminal organizations call this amazing city home.

The City of Gatsby is very loosely based on New York City (hence Borough's, Statue of Hope) and Chicago (It'll become more noticeable when the city and history is completed) with the terrain being frankensteined together with bits and pieces of the American North-East and Canada. The style is based of the 1920's Art Deco style which was largely present in Chicago and New York City during the 1920's.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it heaps! I'll be sure to include criminal organisations and mafia's in the history of Gatsby (I didn't really consider that, thank you for the suggestion!). Hopefully I can finish this map soon!

This is great!

A lot of art deco was quite decorative rather than minimalist, after all it bridged the gap between the old and the new. The style you used feels to be a modern ultra-clean interpretation of the AD aesthetic, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's entirely a question of style, but I'd love to see a map that reflects the dark clean blocks but also the almost dream-like direct symbolism and quirky detail they were still fond of back then. But then on the other side of the same coin we risk straying into modernism, which is a whole new world of cool in my view.

Changes Notes

  • Added road network for Districts of Old Town, New July, Robertson and the Statue of Hope

City of Gatsby - Version 1.4

V90nNwt.jpg

Welcome to the City of Gatsby! Whilst to some, this might be a step back and it is. I've decided to redo the terrain placing as the previous setup had a lot of issues for me. The New York City style of grid system looked too ugly and repetitive on a wide map and overall, the new look I like a lot better.

Aquitaine (Inspiration - Manhattan Island)

  • Aquitaine has been rotated to a more vertical position.
  • Districts have been moved.
  • Old Town has been removed.
  • Downtown has been renamed Midtown.
  • Shi-City and East Circuit have been added.
  • Hope Island has been moved closer to Weston.

Jamestown (Inspiration - Brooklyn)

  • New Jamestown is now just Jamestown

Weston (Inspiration - Chicago/ Staten Island)

  • West Circuit has been added

Splitrock (Inspiration - Bronx/ Providence)

  • Endeavour Isle has been moved directly east of the main islands.

Kingsley (Inspiration - Queens)

  • New Thames has been renamed Kingsley
  • The District of Kinglsey is now Manchester Beach

What are your thoughts on the new look?

The City of Gatsby - Version 1.6

1m9l5FH.jpg

Welcome to the City of Gatsby! (Big Update)

Hey guys! I just saw the forums Annual Awards and discovered that my map Project: Oceania got second place in the Best Fan Map for the GTA Category. Despite my short time on the forum, I was completely blown away that I had made it there. I'd like to thank the administrator's and everyone for their support in my map making endeavours, it is really appreciated and gives me the motivation to create and update all these maps. I promise that as soon as The City of Gatsby has been completed, I'll will return to Project: Oceania, Return of the King style and finish of the State of the Hudson (With the completed City of Gatsby included).

Much love you guys! - Solstron

Changes

  • Louisville, Midtown, Little Italia, Gotti, Capone and July Park have been added.
  • Del Lina Bridge has been added.
  • The year of this map now takes place in 1926. The Roaring 20's
  • I'll have to change the 1941 Gatsby Bombing Memorial to the 1915 Gatsby Bombing Memorial with an updated history to go with it. Thank you @Ivan1997GTA
