Hi again everyone! After a long time I managed to find some for my map. So here comes Overland map version 1.3.

As you may notice it is a fairly big update, which is only fair given the amount of passed time since last update. Changes to previous version are:

 

- Slightly changed road network and created new roads as well in the city at the southwestern most corner. Most of those new roads are located at the island in the middle of city.

- Created extensive railroad networks with multiple stations and terminals throughout most of the map. Most of the rail tracks so far are at the ground level or above, but there are parts that go under which are marked as grey lines. Those are either track in tunnel or subway, as is the case with the metropolis at the central western area of map.

- Done most of street network in a major city at the central most area of the map where artificial sea channel is located. That will be a major industrial city and as such will be named as city of Olind. I came up with that name by combining starting letter of Overland with first three letters of word industry, and inserting l in the middle. So in essence it sounds like all industry which is pretty neat.

 

That's all so far. I'll keep doing updates when I'll have time, but I'll also try to release them more often now.

 

Btw before I finish, can someone give me advice how to remove blur from the lines. I'm working in paint.net which is so far decent program for making map, but those blurred colors are not helping me at all. Thank you in advance!

Alright, as promised here comes another update.

 

Overland 1.4 changes:

 

- Added another subway track at the western central most metropolis area (biggest island on the right), and slightly changed existing crossing.

- Expanded upon road network of Olind city's eastern shore. As I explained in my post above that's a city in the central area surrounding the artificial sea channel.

- Added Olind's city airfield with its infrastructure (hangars, airport terminal, control tower, fuel/water tanks). It is located at the southwestern part of city.

- Placed a small village east from the large lake and to the south from Olind city's airport.

- Started work on another major metropolis located at the southeastern edge of the map. That's around third of its planned area. Given the size of its railroad yard you can be certain that this city will most probably be the largest one on the map.

- Oh yeah, last but not least I managed to come up with another name for a small town/village east of the big swamp area that will be appropriately named Swampico.

Geez, it's been a while since I posted a map, but I got kinda inspired a while ago, and this came out. I thought I'd try something different with the colour scheme (still need to tweak it a bit), plus more realism in the road design (if you've ever seen my other maps, it tends to get pretty twisted). I don't see this map getting awful big in the future, but I'm interested to see where it goes. 😃

I know saving as a .JPG file compresses the image, and causes everything to blur like that. I'd suggest saving the map as a .PNG. Good luck w your map, it's crazy big. ☺️

Thanks for the advice man. I'll certainly try that, but first I'll have to fix everything that's blurred which seems like a lot to do. So it will take a while before I do any updates.

 

P.S. Your map looks very decent so far. Keep up the good work. And thank you!

Okay, feedback for you, @MurdaCopsEveryday:

 

- You should use a line tool for making the airfield runways and roads straight.

- some of the roads don't make sense at the moment (e.g. the bridge across the bay)

- If you use a distortion tool for the edge of the islands, then don't use an outline. And then rougher distortion for the edge.

- Good colors, no need to change them.(San Andreas, I presume)

- Good interesting street layout, but there should be some grid too.

- Why is there so much water? I mean if you're not making more islands, it makes sense to shrink the overall area.

But for a first map, this looks good!

I made a concept map for Grand Theft Auto VI if it were to take place in Vice City. Areas like Lake Okeechobee and Belle Glade ( One of the most dangerous cities in the U.S and kind of regarded as the Sandy Shores of Florida ) are fictionally represented. Still a very early concept map!

Planning to add the Everglades and Key West as well.

I suggest you make the left side of the city bigger and expand the right side.  Well, you can also leave it. @Prokan

Awesome job man! You can immediately get the Vice City feel from that map so kudos to you. Suggestions wise I'd say to finish filling in the mainland parts of VC; Downtown, Little Havana and the like as well as adding the iconic Fort Baxter airbase somewhere along the edge of town. The concept itself is almost perfect, I love the roads and the color scheme so just keep adding on and before you know it you'll have a complete map.

The coastal road southeast on the map ( Based on U.S 1 ) will lead to Florida Keys-style islands based on Key West. The central region of the map will be primarily swamp, farmland and wetlands as well as towns based on south-west and central Florida.

Examples include the already included town of Belle Glade, one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S.

It's been a while, but here's a little update. 😉

 

I broke a bit the grid pattern around the Brickel area, layed out some grey color, and did the roads of Dodge Island. Hope I can make a lot more progress for next time, I just need some motivation lol.

Nah I left Key Biscayne out for scaling reasons. Similar to how Rockstar Games removed the mountain that is present in the Los Angeles basin south of LAX. Key Biscayne isn't that significant or special for it to be added I feel and it would stick out like a sore thumb with the scaling proportions I estimated for this map. I designed Vice City in similar fashion to how Rockstar did Los Santos. EDIT: I might add Fisher Island eventually.

Always nice to see other people working on VC ! I really like your road details on Miami Beach (way better than my own road pattern haha). The color palette from GTA V give it a nice look too.
