sorry to sound like a noob but how is the water ment to look? because as far as i can tell from the pic with the boat and heli, the water looks fine. is it because it's missing the waves? i never really paid much attention to the water quality level of my game and now i wonder if mine is how it's ment to be.

thanks

i dont know about ATI but with an nvidia crad when i get this(usually after changin drivers or stuff in nvidia control panel)

i have change the "texture filtering -Quality" in nvidia control panel, it doesnt matter if you increase or lower it, just change it, and next time i start the game water is back to normal

No matter what settings , but when i set lower in-game and then to High quality and very high water quality looks fine for some seconds then back to this ugly quality -.-

Same with GTA IV version 1.0.0.4

Same bro

I have Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Stock 1GB DDR5 850M

The water just gets lesser waves and clear reflections

After that, i get 5 FPS Boost.

Each time I change the resolution in the Options setting, the waves mysteriously came back.

But after awhile it slowly disappears

By Right it should be like this

Both Are High Quality water [Left=Highest/Right=Normal]

From what I have known

This is my experiment

1st, to get high quality water. Change ur resolution in the options [between 60HZ and 75HZ] you will get high water quality

2nd, 1 minutes later, Lesser waves

3rd, 2 minutes later, Even lesser waves, better reflections but worse water quality

Test #2

Helicopter above sea

again set resolution

I have the same problem too, when near the water i lag which makes it diffcult to play.

I'm using Nvidia Ge-Force 9800gt, with latest drivers.

Lagging near water means you havent patched the game to 1.0.7.0 version (or EFLC to 1.1.2.0), 1.0.6.0 has a bug that makes slowdowns near water edges, I would want to know what causes that bug, im guessing the new shadows.
