I don't really think GTA IV has any scary places. Not at all.

Theres not really a place that "freaks" me out but I suppose being in the middle of the ocean at night is rather annoying and freaky. Especially if its raining too and you have wanted stars. biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Spooky places in GTA4? Are you joking? It's a bloody game, not a masterpiece like SA. confused.gif

That whole funfairpark reminds me a lot of the Pripyat ferriswheel and bumpercars. Those who don't know; Pripyat was the village near the Chernobyl powerplant, mainly plantworkers and families lived there.

Other than that, I'd go for the subways. I'm not so sure about the airport being abandoned, I do agree however it needs more activity to show it's a high-priority airport of a big city.

The ones I find unsettling have alread been mentioned for GTA IV: Happiness Island, at night with the leaves rustling amongst the trees at night, and defo the innermost parts of the subway. The toilets under Middle Park make me want to puke, and I hated that mission.

Where's that?

OT:

The ocean 20 minutes away from the city biggrin.gif

Made me kinda scared when I unwittingly left the boat and fell into the ocean ... I felt like I if a shark would gulp me at any time biggrin.gif

Ok so in real life I have pretty high OCD......I have to take prescriptions for it (I say this random piece of info to explain my next part):

I am deathly afraid of pigeons. To me they are disgusting....piles of filth that fly around and sh*t everywhere. I really do not like them. The way people feel about rats, is how I feel about them, no difference to me really. I have a huge phobia of them....which makes life...difficult since they are everywhere virtually. So basically whenever I see a red cooing fat pigeon in GTA IV I make Niko run the hell away...the sounds and their stupid animation movements freak me out almost as much as a real one standing next to me. I guess it's object association. Yuck. Good thing I killed them all. tounge.gif

San An was full of wierd places, like those big old cabins in the woods in the middle of the nigh... they were horrible ahaha.

I'd say the most freaky place in IV is that sprunk factory at night; It's since become a multiplayer map in EFLC, and it's not as weird when theres a load people running around but as Niko it can be pretty weird.

Come to think of it, When you're playing multiplayer and theres blips turned off, going up to the top floor from the inside can be quite unsettling, not knowing who's around the corner with a shotty to kill you.

This! wow.gif

I hated going there, but I used to all the time..

I used to be scared of the wood and desert in SA too..That was a while ago though biggrin.gif

The Back O' Beyond in GTA SA was literally that - the back of beyond! Most of the myths were supposed to inhabit it, and you just knew Bigfoot was going to come around the trunk of a big tree, or out of a little shed in the woods. That's the advantage of a game with forests and outback, you have lots of areas of creepiness. It is situated in Flint County, near Shady Creeks.

Happiness Island at night still has an air of spookiness though.

Nothing really at all yawn.gif , I know Bohan, Alderny, Colony Island, Statue of Happiness and most of the Hove Beach very, very good (since I play a lot of MP in this areas) and I couldn't find locations that would literally freak me out in those areas!

The ocean in GTA V, I was curious about what happens if you go so far, I was in a little boat I found and then suddenly the engine failed and the waves got extremely high, my boat started stinking - terrified. I started swimming just to see how far out I could get and a shark got me :( I tried again this time with a plane but again the engine failed as soon as I reached the edge of the map, I did not stick around to see it sink. I'm also scared of the plane wreck you can visit for the money, I keep expecting something nasty to get me. My fear of the ocean of course is no less in gaming. Apart from the ocean the sewers can be quite spooky at night. If you let it get to your mind that is.

No place in GTA IV has freaked me out, but the Sprunk Factory is a scary place with the angry bouncer who come after you if you shoot or drop a grenade. I have never attempted to start shootouts inside the sprunk factory

The old hospital on Colony Island because of memories of NOOSE wasting me during The Snow Storm

The factory in (Bohan) Industrial has a scary feel as well as memories of a Russian almost killing me with 1 shot from a shotgun. If you look closely on the map you can see that is is roughly uzi-shaped.

Some of the apartments and projects can feel spooky, the one used in 'Blow you Cover', because of the hobos inside and the abandoned feel. The Northwood projects because they are very big and the have an abandoned feel, even though they are lived in still.

The subways definitely freak me out. I've parked my car in Easton and went in via that random door near the Grand Easton Terminal, and it was a dark and wet night. Its so weird when you turn your speakers all of the way up. Quiet yet creepy. I haven't found anything out of the norm but it still feels scary.

I remember watching a video where somebody went into the subway and saw a woman just standing by a wall. It was f*cking creepy! She had no reaction at all when you hit her or bumped into her.

I don't have any fear of any area of the map per say. I do enjoy exploring the abandoned structures around Liberty City and New Alderney such as the derelict Sprunk Factory, the abandoned casino and the old hospital in Colony Island.

I have never been scared by any areas in any GTA games, but some places are creepy.

San Andreas: (All of these places are only creepy at night)

Back O' Beyond

The old shack up on Mount Chilliad

Fisherman's Lagoon

Bone County

IV:

Abandoned hospital on Colony Island

Abandoned Sprunk factory

Abdandoned funfair

Eastern parts of Tudor at night, with the boardeted up projects, abandoned industrial buildings, and run-down, suburbiam houses, with no people there. Just the sound of the wind.

V:

Grove Street

El Burro Heights at night

Sandy Shores at night

Nowhere bothered me until I ventured into the subway tunnels for the first time after reading Metro 2033 and watching The Tunnel (An Australian horror film). I don't consider the tunnels outright scary but paranoia can give them an unsettling feel.

I'll always feel bad about standing up Dwayne after I took his call while I was exploring down there. What he didn't know was I had stopped concentrating while I was looking for my bike and was promptly flattened from behind by a train. I'll admit that made me jump.

Nothing in gta4 was really creepy since everything was in the city and you were never far from civiliation.

GTA SA had tons of spooky parts, the small isolated ghosttowns throughout the map, bone county, that wheelchar by Palomino Creek, the empty cabin by Mount Chiliad, Back O' Beyond, even area 51. I'd say roughly 40% of the map of GTASA was unsettling at night

GTAV had the same problems as GTA4, it was hard to get away from civiliation. Unlike GTASA it had very little forest area and it was relatively flat. The large draw distance also made the map seem smaller so you never truly felt alone. The only mildly creepy area in GTAV would be the cliffs where you spot the ghost at night, or the outskirts of Sandy Shores

I always got creeped out by the rock in the water, with the rocket launcher on top of it, north of Bohan. It's like climbing onto a big slimy dinosaur head.

I've always found Firefly Island kind of unsettling on a foggy night. I know it might not be the most popular opinion, but I'm glad it was left abandoned and run down to fit in with the rest of Hove Beach/Broker.

Anywhere where it was foggy felt spooky. Having said that, I always believed that the Amusement Park was just shut for the season. I can only imagine what it looks like when it is open and the hustle, and bustle is at full pace. :)

Sometimes even the PHONE makes me jumpy. I was in the museum looking around. No noise except the clump clump of Niko's shoes. I was having a look at the dinosaur skeletons when all of a sudden the phone rang. I jumped 3 feet in the air.
