The Warriors

R* done such a fabulous job with The Warriors (my favorite movie) such a wonderfully written prequel and really fun game.

In a way the game improved the movie for me, for instance, someone like Cleon in the movie hardly played a role so when he died it was just like meh whatever, but the character in the game had such depth that I'm actually sad when he's killed in the movie.

Thank you Rockstar for turning one of my favorite movies into one of my favorite video games.

Hey guys, anyone has The Warriors PS2 Classic version for PS3 or PS4? What are they like?

I'm on PS3 and for a long time I've been thinking I'll get this once it goes on sale. Now it is, but I'm not sure if I even want it anymore - most of the PS2 Classics are pretty terrible. Lately I tried to play LCS and the low framerate actually made me sick. Since I may be getting a PS4 at some point, I might as well skip the PS3 version and wait for that one, assuming it's better.

I mostly wonder whether the PS4 version doesn't have improved framerate. Or how's the framerate of the PS3 version in the first place. I'm normally not sensitive to low framerate but the PS2 classics on PS3 can be pretty bad.

Looks like it was gonna have some sort of spiritual successor!

Posted on the old CVG site: http://archive.is/hLm7

We Are The Mods was originally created for PS2 at Rockstar's Toronto studio, but became a next-gen development at the behest of Rockstar New York. Work began on the game in 2006.

According to Matt Kazan, former environment artist at Rockstar, We Are The Mods was an "unofficial" name for the game. Have a look at some of his early artwork here.

Kazan wrote on his own portfolio site: "The project had begun as a PlayStation 2 spiritual follow-up to the earlier hit 'The Warriors', but part way through the development cycle Rockstar New York asked us to switch Mods from a Sixth Generation to a Seventh Generation development, changing from the PlayStation 2 to the Xbox 360 as the primary development platform. Much of the content here reflects that change, with Mods being the first Seventh Generation project the team had worked on. It was a learning experience for everyone involved. The game was similar in design and style to "The Warriors" but set in 1960's England at the height of the "Mods" vs. "Rockers" era."

They're the same, except that the PS4 version has additional features such as trophies and can be rendered at 1080p. On the downside, the PS4 version has "In the City", "I Love Livin' In the City" and "Remember" removed from the soundtrack.

F*ck... those were the songs that really made both the movie and the game so memorable. I'll stick with my beloved PS2 copy, then. Trophies are cool, though.

A bit off-topic, but that game that never got made reminds me of

with a "60's Mod" theme that was never made into a series, only a pilot that was released 10 years ago, which ended on a cliffhanger. A damn shame that we live in a world where "We Are the Mods" was never released and "The Modifyers" never became a full-fledged series (it only had a pilot, which spawned a porn parody by ZONE, and that's it). Seriously, what do people got against the Mods?

But I digress. I'm a bit dissapointed that the 60's Mod game similar to the Warriors never got made, I would've loved to play it.

To me, the whole concept of We Are the Mods reminds me of this scene from SLC Punk:

Been dying to play this game again. It's one of my favourite games. I was a fan of the film before the game. It was games like The Warriors that made me think that Rockstar were true Rock N Roll or Punk when it came of videogames. They really went outside the box. I mean a videogame based on the movie The Warriors. It also made me feel close to Rockstar in a way that if I mean some of the heads from there, we would probably get along may share the same love for movies, Hip Hop and all those good things from New York.

I wish this would get thrown up on Xbox Live market place. Why not? I'd happily pay 10 euros for it. I wouldn't need any improvement on graphics, just let me play it as it was originally and I would be happy to do so.

I get the feeling we'll never see another company to base a game on a cult classic film like that again which is kind of depressing.

Imagine Rockstar did a videogame of They Live...

I would definitely embrace an HD remake with multiplayer/online content....

Would be amazing.. I loved being able to tag, take stereo faces out of cars, and run into rival gangs out of no where.

At this point you're better off getting a PS2 emulator and playing it on your PC that way.

So I'm currently re-playing The Warriors on PC (using PCSX2) ... this time I go for 100% completion.

I enjoy my time with this game so much.

I can definitely say that Bully, The Warriors and San Andreas are my three favorite Rockstar Games' of all time.

Are you able to play with better graphics? Or is it just exactly the same as the ps2? I know nothing about PC gaming or emulators.

^ You can set the resolution whatever fits your monitor or let's say the power of your pc best.

I for once am just able to run it in native (PS2) resolution with minor frame drops every now and then.

It's a lot of trail and error to find the best emulator settings for your hardware ... and it can be different depending on what game you play on it.

I'm quite happy with how The Warriors runs for me now and after some time you get used to the occasional performance issues.

If a game is great and fun everything else doesn't matter much for me.

I wish there'd be a standard PC version of The Warriors though, that'd make things a lot easier.
